    Another great video...In a pinch if you don't have the compression tool to get new seals on the injector, you can slide the new seals down the tip of a pen to stretch the new seal, place it onto the new injector tip.. then place the cap of that pen over the injector and in about 15mins it shrinks back down to a nice tight fit over the injector....I've done this on my old N54, but based on your measurement it should work on these injectors as well.

    I ran into the same information. I've seen plenty of videos where they do use the seal compression set AND they use the hold down bracket to "force" the new injector and seal into the head! You are the first person that has shown concern over this method in the diy videos. I am replacing a new injector, and like you said, the n20s do not have a compression sleeve! So I will be using the correct tools to compress the new seal. We swapped motors, and I reused the old injectors but with new seals and decouplers, so I have the tools and have become aware of the procedure for proper install, and now, even more from your video! Thanks!

    When I bought my used ‘15 328i xDrive, one of the first things I did was check the spark plugs as they are a good indicator of what is going on in the engine. Cylinder 4 smelled of gas. No engine codes or symptoms. I bought the same Bosch injector and slowly pushing it in by hand, even though I DID see a video where the guy compressed it first (N20). Didn’t have the tool or time to wait (daily) so I put it in as careful as I could and all was fine. Year later I think it’s still fine lol. Even though I got ISTA+, the new injector was the same flow rate! Awesome video. I’ll revisit my injectors in the near future when I can buy the proper removal and compressor/cutter tools.

    You don't need a computer to locate a bad injector. All you need is a cheap stethoscope, you can even use a screw driver (you would put your ear up against the handle part of the screwdriver for this). Put the stethoscope or screwdriver against the back of the injector and listen for the pulsation. You should hear uninterrupted pulsation (clicking) if you don't hear anything or the pulsation is inconsistent then you know you have a problem.

    Nice DIY! I did 6 on my N55 recently. I didn't see any guides that recommended compressing the seal though. But I did blow out everything real good before removing and used the tool to install them, not just the bracket. Been fine for several months. Biggest pain was ISTA. Friggin program never works when I really need it. Spent forever installing/reinstalling it only to find out my USBC to Ethernet adapter was bad. 🤷

    One test you can do is richen the fuel manually with brake clean and watch the O2 sensors in OBD mode and look at raw voltage and ohm draw because many times one of the O2 sensors is lying to the DME. After injector install I know the N63 has a injector calibration process where it adjusts injector calibration while the engine is running. If you can't get through that process (it's 5 steps) O2 sensors are bad.

    I can't say that injector failures are common on the N55. I've owned my M235 since new in 2/2016 and 55k miles haven't had any injector issues. Also, I've been on the F2x and F3x forums since 2014 and haven't heard of injector issues on 2014+ electronic wastegate equipped N55s pretty much never. I know they're a HUGE issue on the N54s and potentially the B58s with injector leaks causing washing of the cylinder bores which then kills the plasma bore coating and wrecks the piston and short block.

    Very nice DIY. My 335i n54 did great after I bought it ( 2009 and only 52k miles). But now, only 1500 miles later the engine starts shaking at a cold start. I read the codes and it has a 2AAF shadow code, saying the fuel pump plausibility, by age. Warm, the car performs great, even at full throttle!
    My plan is to change the fuel low-pressure sensor for the better Bosch one. If this doesn't work I will change the fuel pump and put a Walbro 450 in the tank, following your DIY about this pump. Thanks for showing us the way, to great running BMWs. Dutch regards, Nico.

    • @VehicularDIY
      @VehicularDIY 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, that sounds like injectors leaking when the car sits, they drip on the pistons and cause the an over rich situation and they car has to burn off that excess gas and it'll run fine until the next time the car sits overnight. The fuel pump code means your fuel pump is drawing too much current from the electrical system which could mean its failing or had some restriction like a clogged filter sock etc. Wouldn't hurt to replace the fuel pump for maintenence but should be a separate issue from your cold starts.

    If you remove the injectors for inspection and reinstall them, I’m reading that if it takes more than 5nm of torque to remove it from the cylinder head, the whole injector needs to be replaced. Why is that the case? Is it due to scoring the teflon sleeve? What actually goes ‘bad’ that you cant just refresh the teflon seals/washer and reinstall? Thx

    Hi there , love ya DIY's but I have a question, I have a BMW X6 2012 , 55 engine, had rough idling for some time, but the other day the truck went into limp mode, fuel injector number 4 went out, I started smelling gasoline and computer told me I had multiple misfires . I had the truck towed home, I changed my high pressure fuel pump as a precaution , drained the oil and it smelled like gasoline, so I know one of the fuel injectors dumped fuel into the cylinder.
    I checked and the spark plugs, all of them were black but one smelled like gasoline, which was cylinder number 4, which is the code I got from my Autell scanner, telling me that fuel injector 4 shut down , low fuel pressure .
    I am changing the fuel injectors tomorrow and spark plugs, I am worried that I may have damaged the engine already due to the fuel dump in the gasoline, I didn't drive it but I don't know if damage has occurred already ?

    For EU6 injectors, if you order them off FCP euro for example, they come with the Teflon seal/o-ring, so does it still need to be tightened with the o-ring sealing tool? Confused as to whether or not that’s necessary on a new injector that already comes with it

    • @mikewalko536
      @mikewalko536 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I know I'm 5 months late but no- the ones on FCPEuro are done. Teflon is like clay, they dont spring back when you stretch them. O rings are rubber and bouncy/stretchy. When you stretch the teflon ring to get it onto the shaft, it's larger than the recessed groove now, which is why you need to compress it back down. The ones with the teflon seal already on it have been compressed and are good to go. If they weren't you'd be able to slide the teflon ring off.
