For the past 3 to 4 years I've been wearing my hair in a stretched style. I blow dry my hair on a medium to low heat setting then blast with cool air. I put my hair in either flat twists or mini twists which last me 3 to 4 weeks at a time. I normally wait until December to straighten my hair with heat. It last for a whole month. Looking into investing in the revair reverse hair dryer to do more stretched styles since my hair is getting longer. I'm almost at waist length.
Speak that truth sis! I love being a straight natural because my hair is much thicker my hair was long when I had a relaxer but not as thick….also what I do is give my hair a “heat break” (for a month or two or even longer) so I don’t lose too much of my curl pattern
Yeah I feel like I couldn’t understand why people didn’t make their kids a straight natural instead of relaxed. Straight natural has only one difference in perception and it’s whether you call your hair “heat damaged” or “heat trained”. It takes the same amount of time, if not less, to wash and flat iron your hair compared to getting your roots touched up with relaxer. Like I was a straight natural basically my whole life and if you always wear your hair straight, it lowkey is easy to manage because your hair texture will loosen over time if that’s your main concern. It’s better than putting harsh chemicals in your hair and not being able to scratch your scalp, limit if you can dye it or go swimming. Like just make sure you have a good wash and deep conditioning routine with decent/great products and a good style routine like a good blow drying method and a good flat iron. Or go to someone you trust.
Yep my cousin was basically a straight natural. Her hair was long thick and beautiful even when she dyed it it was still healthy. Then she messed around and got a relaxer in college smfh 😢
Glad I found this video! Love seeing licensed professionals on TH-cam. I press my hair once a month but I wash after 2-3 weeks and wear my hair curly or in a protective style for about a week or two until the next month.
I was this close 🤏🏾 to relaxing my hair again and then this video popped up 😂 I’m gonna research this more before I make a decision but thank you for giving me another option that I didn’t think about!
Natural for many years then relaxed Oct '21 til my last retouch Aug '22. Either overprocessing or overlapping caused my hair to shed like crazy, new stylist said it was "melting". Anyway, not bald but she cut it cute retaining length mostly in the front, it's in a bob. She said my hair is too fine for relaxers (and low porosity), to simply heat-train my hair. And in her salon suite I've been getting steam unlike the other stylist, quality products and tools like Dyson etc. I'm grateful.
I'm trying to heat train my hair. I just got my first silk press two days ago and it's starting to frizz (probably due to the weather). Can you do a video on how you maintain your presses throughout the week; maybe different ways to style it? I think I want to put a little oil on it. I have flyaways like it needs to be weighed down.
It just came to me though! I could straighten my hair but not bone straight. I love body when it comes to straight hair. Maintain it for 3 weeks. Wash and treat every 2 weeks before the next straightening session in between. I'm hoping to do this all the way until March. This way I'm ensuring that my hair is getting a good treatment before I go back to wearing it straight each time.
I agree to all these tips! My hair has been thriving, when i don’t do what u recommend i have my hair in braids or a non-extension protective style....literally the perfect regimen now that i incorporate straight hair. Thank u!

There's no such thing as heat trained. You have permanently changed/damaged your natural curl pattern slowly instead of all at once like a relaxer does.
@@Liz-ic6jb that’s what heat training is: Changing/altering the pattern of your hair. I do it and my hair is waist length. It’s a form of damage (to the curl pattern) but your hair itself can still be thick, long and flourishing.

I don't agree with the new straight hair natural trend that I see going in the natural hair movement personally. Straightening your hair gives you more length retention whether you use heat or relaxed it all depends on your hair regimen and how you take care of your hair whether its in a relaxed or natiral state. The same things that are applied to a natural hair regime, can be appplied to a relaxed hair regimen even though they are in a totally differrrnt stste so i dont see the point of being a straight hair natural its not for me personally period. I said what i said. From what ive seen on youtube being a heat trained natural women means your hair is easily heat damaged. I see being a heat trained natural as a new trend on natural hair youtube that is very viral and popular at the minute.
Exactly why she stated this video is not for everyone! It's ok that it is not for you but for others especially women that has lost their hair from chemo, alopecia, etc they may want to avoid chemicals all together ❤️

It’s a personal choice. Natural hair most definitely needs more interaction and some women simply can’t or don’t want to do it. That does not mean their hair is not healthy because it’s relaxed. Ive done both and in both styles my hair was healthy and growing. There are ups and downs to both styles. Do what works for you personally!
Whoa calm down… I never said relaxed hair isn’t healthy…. you can definitely have healthy relaxed hair but relaxers still have chemicals in them that are linked to fibroids.

Please bw be a straight natural if u thinking about relaxers
I want to be a straight natural just to wear Vpart and upart wigs
I'm a straight natural with heat trained hair and I still have all of my curls. It's possible to do it and not have damaged hair. I wear braids in the summer and flat iron once a month in the cold months.
CHEMICAL VS NON-CHEMICAL.
Please exit.
You don't have to 'agree' with it, it's not your hair and women will wear it how they please regardless.
This is where I'm at I was straight natural for years then stopped after moving south. My curls tighten and I proudly was in my glory. Length makes it more difficult to deal with. I'm a new mom and have no time.
