We went on the Disney Wish mid august. At some point someone over heard my daughter say her favorite princess was Elsa. One night outside our room was an envelope addressed to my daughter. There was a card inside hand written by Elsa to her.
Another day my wife was sitting with my 3 year old down the hall from the kids club. Mickey came walking by. Walked past them, stopped and turned around, grabbed my sons hand and took him into the kids club where he showed him how to steer the ship in the play area. Just him 1 on 1. I was so sad I missed it but she took lots of videos.
That’s the Disney Magic people talk about but can’t describe. It was incredible. We’ve done all the major cruise lines now and no other company comes close to that level. We already booked the Disney Treasure for 2025
Money well spent, right?
We went to Disney Fantasy Jan 2023...it was the best family vacation I've ever been on. Cost up front was hard to swallow but after the trip...I would've paid more. Only very minor downside was my youngest was 2 years old so she wasn't old enough to go to the kids club. My oldest was 4 but rarely went to the kids club because she didn't want to be away from her sister. They had a blast either way. We booked the Disney Treasure for Jan 2025. I can not wait since both of my girls will be old enough to join the kids club.
My wife and I have been on other major cruise lines and now have our fouth Disney Cruise. This time we are going to Alaska. Disney has a level of detail and customer service that cannot be matched. We absolutely love it.
Once you know, you know. No other Cruise line comes close!!!
Took my first ever cruise on the Wonder this past May which fulfilled two bucket list wishes - a Disney cruise and visiting Alaska. It was absolutely magical and well worth every penny. I booked fairly early and felt I got a good price even though I traveled solo and paid much more for my cabin than I would have if traveling with others. As an older adult I felt there was plenty for me to do whether I wanted adult entertainment, relaxation, or Disney themed fun. I opted for an ocean view and to save money elected for the cruise line to choose my room which was fine though I feel I would choose my own room next time and opt for a balcony as long as the weather is warm. The food was amazing - I am a vegan and eat a very low fat diet...my servers were wonderful and I had no problem finding meals that fit my dietary requirements. The gym was beautiful and the spa is spectacular. Can't wait to cruise with Disney again. Thanks to Ben and David for giving me so much information and helping me feel more confident selecting my next cruise. :)
Literally everything you said can happen on another cruise line for a quarter of the cost
I'm glad you made this video. I hear other reviewers talk about how Disney cruises are only more expensive because of branding which I disagree with. I've been cruising for a bit now and I notice that Disney's upkeep of their ships is well above others. I considered making a video about it. You guys are spot on, Disney is pricey but I feel they're worth it because of the service, upkeep, and friendly cruising community that sail Disney. Also you can find competitive pricing if your time is flexible.
It's definitely not just the branding. They put a lot into the ships.
Agree that if you have flexible time, you can shop for the best possible price. But the issue is that when you have kids, you really have to weigh whether it's worth it or not to take them out of school. If they're really young, should not be a problem. As they get older, it becomes more of a factor. That's where they can really get you with prices.
Agreed with your assessment. They take really good care of their ships. Lots of pride in what they do.
I was terrified of going on a cruise, but we went on our first ever cruise in January on the Disney Dream. I have never experienced relaxation and service like we did on that ship. I’m an absolute convert to cruising now. Going on a different cruise line this January and I only hope that I haven’t ruined future cruises by having done my first with Disney!
Ha Ha Ha, You'll be back!!!!!
I started with Disney as well. Loved it and fell in love with cruising. I’ve tried Royal, carnival and virgin since that first magical cruise. Needless to say none measure up, all fun but it’s not Disney ya know
Yes it is very worth it- did a 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise in Dec 2022. The Disney magic and service is far above & beyond. The cast members go out of their way to make sure you are happy with their service. My husband and I did the Remy brunch. Our head waiter was so concerned that my husband didn't eat much of his dinner (we had the early time slot) and thought he didn't like the food & offered other options. In reality, he was stuffed from Remy still. We miss our servers as they did cater to what we liked and took note of our dislikes & how we liked our meal timed out.
Remy was a class above & one of the best restaurants we have ever tried. Looking forward to trying Palo next time.
Our son enjoyed the kids club and the nightly shows were out of this world and really broadway quality shows with the lights, moving sets, etc.
Looking forward to using our future cruise credit to book another DCL vacation.
We have been on 30+ cruises on many different cruise lines over many years. Enjoyed each and every one, but our one cruise on Disney was the absolute best!
What did you like most about it and did you feel like the price was justified?
We are platinum DCL guests so obviously we love Disney. We have done two Royal Caribbean cruises, but Disney is still our first choice. Going on Halloween on the High Seas for the first time October 2024. Can't wait. Thanks for your video which is spot on.
I'm so excited we've booked our first cruise on Disney Magic for October 2024. Celebrating our favorite season and our love of Disney!
This is exactly the reason why it is so expensive, people like you are willing to pay just to be on the ship.
@@daveaglasgow Welcome to capitalism.
My in-laws, in their 80s, love cruising on DCL (without any grandchildren!) They have taken us a few times and we love it too.
I have taken a Disney. Took my grandkids and my daughter. My mom also went. Castaway Key their private island was amazing. They don’t charge extra to enjoy their island. (Perfect Day at Coco Cay charge you )
It was pricey but I would do it again. You’re right the detail is impeccable. I have the best memories and it was worth every penny. I have cruised on other ships you can definitely see the difference. IMO. Disney knows how to do it right. Can’t wait to do another cruise with them.
Another one that people overlook is Disney doesn't have casinos. Those are big revenue generators for other lines.
Absolutely Love DCL!! The best and worth the money to cruise! The service is amazing!! Soo many activities for everyone to enjoy! Looking forward to my next Disney cruise!!
Loved our Disney Dream cruise to celebrate a milestone birthday…just my husband and I. The private island is amazing, the shows are amazing and or guaranteed cabin is one of the best cabins we have had. The bed is awesome. We had a super time.
We are going on our first Disney cruise on the Magic. I’ve dreamed of this day for 25 years. Thanks for the great video
@insidecruise I really like the second channel. These videos are well put together and very informative.
I do speculate that the Disney cruises may also be more pricey due to the fact that there is no casino on board. I imagine that the business model changes dramatically when you cannot count on that revenue stream.
1000% They are also very strict on alcohol sales. They don't offer an alcohol package and will not let you get too drunk because they want to maintain the family friendly environment. On our last sailing a man was escorted to his work due to. his behavior from drinking, so alcohol sales are likely lower as well, and that is a huge markup for most lines
I took the kids on the Magic when it was about one year old. It’s was fabulous! Had to drag them out of the kids club, they loved it! One night we were awakened around 1:00 am with a ship wide fire alarm. At the time I just got annoyed that we were all awakened. They had it taken care of in about 20 minutes. Now I realize how serious a fire on a ship can be. We were blown away by Castaway Cay! I’m not sure private islands were a thing then or maybe they were and I didn’t know 🤷🏻♀️ The adults only beach was phenomenal as it was considered a sea life preserve so it was well announced not to disturb the sea critters. Live starfish and conch were in abundance as well a beautiful, tropical fish. A very memorable experience indeed. I agree. It’s hard to put a price tag on intangibles such as service and maintenance. I only say intangible as many feel it is expected. But increased levels are worth the money. Unlike taxes 😂
I’m getting on my Disney wish cruise tomorrow and I can’t wait!
My husband and I went on the Wish in January. We had to admit that we wished this had been around when our son was still young. He’s 27 now, and I don’t think he’d do anything now except sit with his nose in his phone, and play video games.
Oh, the most amazing detail are those split bathrooms, especially for dealing with families.
Echante' will rock your world. That was a 3 1/2 hours dinner for us. Was Amazing Food!
Yessss did the maiden voyage of the Fantasy and a Halloween cruise on the Fantasy are scheduled on the Magic next August
I think it's definitely fair to compare the price on a DCL cruise vs what you could get on another line. A standard room on DCL could get you a premium room on another line, definitely fair to compare and see which is better for your family.
Not comparable.
DCL is in its own class.
It’s not just comparing rooms.
The DCL cruise experience is not offered on any other cruise line
@@Dangic23DCL is a regular cruise line with mouse ears and 2-4 times the cost
@@jcspotter7322 It's beyond the mouse ears. Actually, you need to look for them (mouse ears) on DCL. You won't find any inebriated people crawling back to their rooms like you do on RC and Carnival... Either you go on a classic ship, or a booze cruise...
@@Dangic23 I disagree... haven taken 3 DCL cruises so far, while I find it's a good product, I also question whether it's worth the extra cost vs an upgraded option on another line.
It’s unique.
So it gets away with the extra $$$
We cruised 13 times on Disney from 1998 with our last in 2017 and enjoyed every one. We reached the top loyalty tier. Since the pandemic Disney have ridiculously raised their prices (double pre and post COVID), started charging for things that were previously included, doubled the specialty dining prices, reduced the number of adult only areas and activities, and added a new even higher loyalty tier (reducing the value of our current tier and removing perks). Bottom line, we no longer think Disney is a good value and now cruise with other lines.
My family and I normally cruise with RCCL, and tried Disney last year, aboard Disney Fantasy. We had a great time, but we agreed the price difference - over 2X as much for the same type of cabin - just isn't worth it. DCL was awesome, but a one and done for us unless their pricing is on par with RCCL. We're back to Wonder of the Seas in two weeks' time and saving a ton on our balcony cabin.
Totally agree!!!
I would much rather pay more and cruise less. The difference in experience is day and night.
What adult areas got removed? We've cruise with Disney 3 times post pandemic and didn't notice anything. We're also platinum and nothing got removed from perks. The only real thing removed is the ability to say it's the highest tier. Also, prices have not doubled.
@@Scott__C.... at least 30 percent more than 3 years ago.
My wife and I (no kids) are going on the Dream to Bermuda in TWO WEEKS!
Did you enjoy it?
We went on Disney Wonder on a two week Panama Canal cruise. Although there was only 4 ports and most sea days it was still jam pack with activities and we never got bored. Its the same price as going to a 5 night cruise in Disney Dream. It was worth it.
Worth it!! Loved every moment
I have done the Caribbean cruises, Nordic, Mediterranean and Baltic all with Disney - love the split bathroom, stateroom size, fabulous food, rotational dining and stand out service. I don't care about gambling, the adult venues are nice, plenty of adult entertainment, classically beautiful ships, spotlessly clean. I met many cruisers who were on their double-digit Disney cruise, plenty who didn't have kids or grandkids. I now cruise solo and they make a great effort to put you with other solos for dinner. Yes, I am a big fan! Love the Magic!
We are cruising Europe on the Dream next year. Very excited!
Always cruise a Disney Ship. Been on 23 cruises, and not regretted it at all. Looking forward to seeing you and David soon.
Disney is the preferred cruise line for my wife and me. Our first cruise was on the Disney Wonder for our 25th wedding anniversary. We've sailed on the Wonder, Fantasy and Wish with a goal of cruising on every one of their ships one year. We've also sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. Our order of preference is DCL, RCL, Carnival and then NCL. We've booked an Alaska cruise late in the 2024 season on Holland America Line, so we'll have another line for comparison.
As a show comment, I liked the information you provided. There is one correction that I think is needed, though. Animator's Pallet is only on the Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy. That restaurant was replaced on the Wish by Arendale and on the Treasure by Cocoa.
We just came off the 13-night inaugural cruise from Honolulu to Sydney, Australia on the Disney Wonder. The price was, well, pricey. But it was well worth the cost. Everything in this video is spot-on.
I agree that the price is insane. On a per diem basis, it's sometimes more than the premium lines. BUT the product is absolutely amazing. I can't say enough good things about it.
Still the best family cruise we have ever taken! Sailed on over 152 ships. Looking forward to taking our children and grand daughter in another year!
We have done 11 Disney cruises and continue to pay the significant premium for the Disney experience because it is worth it for us. Cruised Royal Caribbean once and really didn’t care for it. We are going to try NCL Prima next year for Iceland to Southampton and then Celebrity for Galapagos, maybe a Virgin Voyages in between. And since watching your videos I’m trying to get Viking on the list and Christmas river cruise.
I just finished my 28th DCL cruise. 31st by December! We love it. It’s expensive for sure. It’s hard to say if it’s worth it (compared to other lines) because I haven’t been on a different line since 2009
Our first 5 cruises were with Disney. They were great when our kids were young. My daughter lived in the kids clubs. But it became a been there, done that for us so we changed to a different cruise line. I agree the service is excellent and the ships are beautiful. Only thing I truly miss is Castaway Cay.
Our best cruise EVER! After Disney, I don’t see us cruising with any other cruise line after Disney. They spoiled us.
love your review. we booked our first cruise last week for nov 2024. we can’t wait ❤❤❤
We used to cruise Disney often when kids were younger BUT the prices have gone up so much and my girls are now young adults/teens, they want a more sophisticated and cultural experiences like museums, art, etc so we’ve “graduated” to other cruise lines but we have wonderful memories!! We’re big Disney fans and thought yhe kids activities, staff and food were amazing!!
What line are you going on now? Most aren't doing anything educational or cultural.
We are trying Princess cruise Mediterranean next year (Italy, Spain, France, Gibraltar and stop to London) and Celebrity (spring break mainly to eat great food lol) and hope this is more what the fam wants! @@Scott__C
It was worth every penny! Love the Disney Cruise Line. Planning another cruise as we speak!😍😍😍
Our first 4 cruises were with Disney. We branched out to Princess, RCL, and MSC. If I were bringing my grandlittles, we’d do DCL again, but for now, we’re enjoying other lines. Also, it might matter to some that Disney cruises have no casino {a big money-maker on other lines.} Great video!
I did my 1st disney cruise 2 weeks ago . A cousin decided to get married on a cruise ship. The group was asked to dine together and at same time. In the video he stated Disney don't have dinner buffet as a choice, is this true? I've cruised with other big 2 and they give a choice. Thanks
@@APatt-rg3yv I don't think they offer a buffet in the evening on DCL. On Pirate Night, the used to offer a themed Pirate Buffet late at night. Not sure they still do that tho.
What’s a grandlittle?
@@rsvihla I call my 8 grandchildren “grandlittles”
@@APatt-rg3yv That is correct. Tge buffet offers only sit-down dining for dinner where you are served by waiters and order from the same menu as the people eating in the main dining room.
Platinum Disney Cruiser here. That's pretty much what we do on our channel. DCL for the most part. Have 3 in the Pipline right now.
Hey, Ben & David! You are spot-on with the "service exceeds the industry standard" opinion. My wife and I will only cruise Disney, even when our daughter opts to stay home. The adult sections of the ship are strictly enforced, and it is extremely geared around adults. (less "magic"). We made the one-time only mistake of cruising RC, and their older ships do not meet the standards of DCL. One final comment that is rarely discussed is that drink prices on DCL are far lower than RC. (can't speak for the others). And when we did cruise RC, it took 20 minutes in line to get a drink. I would rather take less cruises on DCL, than more cruises on another cruise line. We cruise 3 times per year. Cheers!
We cruise on both DCL and RCL and we love them both.
I would Agree the price is worth it! We have been on 2 DCL's and Love it! we are ready to book the next.
We love Disney cruises & worth the money to us
Great video👍. I’ve been on the Magic and dream and have wish booked for may 2024
It’s just myself 65 and my daughter 40. We are big disney fans . Having annual passes to Disneyland even went to Disneyland paris (disappointed)
Loved how you explained why disney is priced higher . We feel it’s worth it, having also cruised on 3 other lines (princess, royal , ncl. ) listed in order of favorites after Disney.
Having said that our 4 night cruise is more expensive than a 7 night on the other brands.
The entertainment, food quality, cleanliness and attention to detail makes it an easy decision for us. I did take the entire family with 4 grandkids on our dream trip. And the kids absolutely loved it. Still talk about it 5 years later, now as teens. But the price tag for all 12 of us in three cabins is harder to justify when we could go to New Zealand (non cruise) for the same price … it’s all about variety in life isn’t it. Try everything at least once ..
Really enjoy your videos. Keep doing what you do. I find the content just perfect. No unnecessary blab or bad jokes . Just great information and advice , with video showing everything necessary
We cruised on the magic. While a different experience than other cruise lines we did not think it was worth the super expense. to each their own.
Cant wait for the Disney Adventure!
Finally get to experience DCL from Singapore
Started off with HAL. Switched over to Disney and haven’t looked back. Most cruises have been solo, but I’m perfectly happy. I’m good now. I’m playing bingo with all the cruise ships, and I love the theming they have. The Wish is next on my list. I can’t wait for the Treasure, and I’m intrigued about the Disney Adventure.
LOVED my Disney cruise on the Wonder in March. Disney knows how to do it right.
I am not really a fan of Disney, but, I am a fan of beautiful ships. And the Wish is probably the most beautiful ship on the planet right now. I will surely sail her one day. There is plenty of spaces for adult only time and maybe some of the character interactions will melt my cold heart! It is pricey, as I have researched a lot, with your help! But I think the price matches the product. Can't wait!!
Took 3 Disney cruises when our kids were younger, son and his wife just booked their second (no kids). We felt it was well worth it
Definitely more expensive than other cruise lines although Royal’s Icon of the Seas pricing is giving them a run for their money. No pun intended. 😄
Just got off Magic last Thursday and not going into another Disney cruise for our next cruises. My stepdaughter didn’t even like going to the Oceaner’s Club. She came in and was out in less than 10mins. She wanted to give poor rate for that place. She said kids were being yelled at. She had a great time at the Aqua Dunk tho. Food was same every day at the Cabana’s and has few options as well. The only time I liked food was lunch at Castaway Cay. We cruised with Discovery Princess last December and loved the whole duration of the cruise.
he said it all, more bang for the buck,
Enjoyed the video! I took a Disney Cruise before there WAS a Disney Cruise Line! July of 1986, I sailed on a 3-day Premier Cruise Lines Star/Ship Oceanic which was then the Official Cruise Line of Walt Disney World! It was a Senior cruise to the Bahamas that included overnight docking at Nassau. We had an excursion to Salt Cay for snorkeling & Barbecue. That island is located over near Rose Island. I was 17 years old at the time, and the drinking age was 16 so I blew through $200 cash I brought with me on alcohol and gambling! No sail cards to charge to back then! No parents either! Just high school classmates! Lol! I don't recall any Disney characters onboard although if there were any, I didn't see them. Yep, glad today drinking age is 21 on cruises! Lol! We were too wild! I'm more surprised none of us fell overboard! Star/Ship Oceanic was 40K ton ship which is tiny by today's standards. The ship was turned into razor blades back in 2012. That cruise wasn't too expensive whereas Disney Cruises today are pricey! May one day I'll take a cruise on Disney for nostalgia purposes!
So excited for our first cruise this year on the Wish - hoping for an Alaskan one next :)
We went on 20 DISNEY cruises. One RCL and one MSC. The others I really enjoyed but they don’t come close to Disney. We are 2 adults, no kids, and we love it every time. The Fantasy and Dream are amazing! The Wish seems nice, but I “wish” they kept the same inside decor and theme as the other ships. We don’t really want to go on the Wish, but want to try the Treasure.
I’ve been in several Disney cruises. Last time cruised concierge which was really worth every penny; it made it possible to get a cabana on Castaway Csy.
It is a premium cruise and fully immersive and well done. We cruised on the Fantasy 8 days and it was enjoyable. That said, I'm happy with RC, NCL, and Carnival. Which I could cruise all three for the cost of one Disney cruise
I've taken one Disney cruise and personally I didn't enjoy it as much as other cruise lines (read: I still enjoyed the cruise). The Fantasy is a fine ship, but the onboard activities really didn't suit me. But, these are things that you are only going to discover by trying different cruise lines, and I absolutely do not regret trying a Disney cruise.
We went on the Disney Wish this past July. We are two very big Disney fans. We honestly were underwhelmed. There were some reasons unrelated to Disney itself.
But additionally, we met another guest who had been on 9 other Disney cruises, and she told us to try the older boats they were better. We might try them but are going to be sticking to cheaper cruises for the time being.
The Wish is the only ship I haven’t been on yet. I highly suggest the Dream. They’re all gorgeous, but that chandelier is my favorite.
I love Disney Cruise lines!!!!
It’s totally worth it. We love Disney cruises and go on them with family, friends or even just by ourselves. Going on a less busy week is way more practical so just something to keep in mind. I don’t think we will ever get tired of DCL. We have three booked between now and next September!! I tried RCCL earlier this year, but honestly the only thing I liked about it was Cococay. I might give them one more chance but the food was awful and it was so loud and there was literally no where calm to relax on the entire ship. Also, I can’t stand the gambling and smoking on the Royal ships. Also they barely cleaned our room whereas Disney does 2 cleaning a day. I am looking forward to trying Viking ocean cruises at some point though. I will say Chops Grille was pretty good but a family next to us had kids banging the table the entire time. I missed Disney Adult only dining, the Cove cafe, quiet lounges, no smoking and appropriate shows. I was literally embarrassed to be in the theater while they were doing the Grease show with all the younger kids around. I may still give Royal another shot on one of the newer ships but I’m not a huge fan of how gigantic they are. I wish they had a newer smaller ship to try. We may go ahead and just try it one of the celebrity ships that goes to Cococay. But I’m OK admitting that we are just DCL fans. And yes we pay a premium for that. That part stinks! 😂
This man listed all the reasons why except the main one.........because they can!😂
We are Disney Cruise Line regulars at this point. Even people we have sailed with who are top-tier members for RC and other cruise lines have said Disney does it BEST.
We love DCL and are Platinum with 13 cruises and one coming up. Every point you covered is spot on, from the staterooms to the service and food. The cast members are all so nice and attentive. We're trying HAL next year to see what it is like, then back on the Dream for 12-night Fjords and Iceland. QUESTION Ben: what do cruisers on other cruise lines wear during the day on the ship? I doubt my Disney wardrobe will fit in on HAL!
How does one reach platinum?
@@ExoticDoll When you have COMPLETED ten cruises on DCL.
Wow, so what extra do you get as a platinum guest? @@CruisingEngineer
@@ExoticDoll the biggest benefit as Platinum is early (ahead of Gold, Silver, and the general first-time cruiser) in booking the cruise, booking ship activities (specialty dining, wine tastings, etc.), shore excursions, also discounts for purchases in the onboard gift shops, and one free Palo dining.
I would like to know how Disney compares with other expensive cruise lines like Celebrity and Viking. Maybe for a future video?
I loved my Disney Cruise and I'll never get to do it again so I'll cherish all the memories. Charging 200% single supplement is nauseating. They charge that much because they CAN. I was worried about being saturated with Disney but it's very subtle and the crew is so lovely.
Love love DCL…
I've only done 3 Disney cruises. LOVE Castaway Cay. Love the service. I'm not a super Disney character fan, but I found they were never "in your face". Saw a movie that wasn't in the theatres yet. They have fireworks. We tendered to one port - don't remember which one. There were other ships in port. We did our excursion and returned to shore to go back to the boat. There was a HUGE LINE to tender! However, upon inspection, it wasn't Disney - it was another cruise line. Going a bit further, we found the Disney area - and it was empty. We got the next tender and was back on board very quickly. I felt sorry for the people in that long line. Like you said, the main dining rooms are on par with other ships specialty ones.
Disney does lack a casino, ice skating, motor racing, aqua diving, water surfing, and stuff like that. The best they can do it putt putt, rock wall (?), game room, and the floom water rides. Free (included) soft drink and ice cream is very nice too.
Re: the ice skating etc., the ships that have that stuff are much larger to accommodate those things. Disney's ships aren't that large to allow that.
I can really appreciate their attention to detail, cleanliness and customer service. I'd be a little embarrassed going as a solo cruiser😅
I’ve been a solo cruiser on the Disney Wish twice and never felt embarrassed. If anything I felt they looked after me more and made sure I was ok
I've done the Magic as a solo, older traveler. Had a great time. Do keep in mind that cruising solo is even more crazy expensive because you're paying the price for two.
No need for that at all. Plenty of people going solo and they do a good job of matching you with similar folks for dinner times. We don't have kids and always get put with folks who aren't traveling with kids. Likely they'd match you with other solo cruisers.
But DCL can’t be bothered to give you paper cruise guides. You have to look at the app on your phone to see what is going on.
I will never go on a cruise ( for many reasons) yet I watch every video from Ben and David because I just like them!
I was on the Disney Magic for the Westbound Panama Canal crossing…my honest opinion…it was NOT worth it.
I could list a laundry list of things that I made this cruise really bad but here are three things:
1. The characters were not there to greet guest as we boarded the ship.
2. The disorganization to disembark at a port. It took us over an hour and a half to get off at Grand Cayman.
3. The lack of things to do for adults after 1030pm. Once the last activity ended, the ship went quiet. Yes the bars might stay open until midnight, but there was no music or entertainment anywhere.
We did the Disney Wish in January with the grandkids and whilet he over all experience was great but traveling with 6 and 8 year old kids the main dining options for kids were a bit limited and disapointing
Yes Ben. I would like to know why so expensive. Oceanview window on the Treasure for a family of 5 was $19,000 🤷🏻♀️🤦♀️. They have what other lines have but you say elevated. Like the alternating dining experience and the serving staff moves with you. And like their 2 bathrooms. Looking forward to trying Disney. Good to know there’s an adult area and looking forward to experiencing their private island. Thanks for the insight Ben. 🤗🛳️
Looks like you were researching the Maiden Voyage. They are always 10x the cost. At least. And that is on all cruise lines. Try a different itinerary, and it's not that bad. You should be looking at around $7k for the Treasure.
@@shawnsnyder8695 not me. A friend of mine. But Disney is on my list. Have sailed Princess, Carnival, Celebrity, Royal, Norwegian. Trying MSC in November. Working my way up to Disney, Viking and Azamara. Like to experience as many as we can. Thanks so much.
I’ve recently done the transatlantic cruise on Disney Dream
Do you think the lack of a casino and no drink packages can drive the price up to make up for the lack of revenue? Just wondering. I have sailed on the Dream and loved it but the price has kept me away for more cruises. Your video has me rethinking of booking another due to the beauty and the great experience. Thank you.
I also think DCL has fewer upcharges, so you're paying for more in your base price.
Absolutely. If you see the number of people throwing money at the casino and drinking there etc., it has to be a high revenue generator. They're not going to just break even.
I’ve done 3 sailings with DCL: 1 on Wonder and 2 on Magic from 2012-2016.
I loved them all!!
Castaway Cay is wonderful but I prefer Perfect Day and Halfmoon Cay.
Prices these days are out control. I can do multiple 7 night sailings on Carnival for the cost of 1 DCL cruise. It’s sad b/c I was so close to gold status but I just can’t justify the price.
Is your background a real room? It's gorgeous would love a room tour!
We love DCL and have taken 11 cruises with them with 2012. We agree that you can just sense the Disney difference when you are on the cruise. More recently, we have taken a Celebrity cruise (Beyond) and a HAL cruise (Rotterdam). We enjoyed both and have cruises booked on both lines, but we agree that Disney have them beat in service for sure and entertainment in our opinion. DCL and HAL both beat Celebrity on MDR food quality. But Disney's food variety on the MDR menus beat both HAL and Celebrity. DCL is expensive so we have decided to stick with them in the Caribbean when it is more about the ship than the ports and when we have access to DCL's private islands. On port intensive and/or unique itineraries we are happy cruising with Celebrity and HAL (but we do miss that hard to define/articulate Disney difference!)
Is it worth it? Depends on what you want from a cruise. For us, definitely yes. Premium cruise line + fabulous cast members + family friendly + enforcement of adult-only areas + good food + great cabins = pure pleasure. Oh and a real promenade deck with a sea view.
Didn’t really like the Wish though. Too big.
It does sound wonderful! I just haven’t booked one because of the great expense, plus my children are all grown. If I take the kids with the grandkids, since I would pay for their room, that makes it even more expensive. Still, I’d like to cruise Disney some day; a good friend of mine ONLY cruises Disney, and their kids are also grown.
My family and I went on our very first cruise back in 2014 on the Disney dream had a great time. It was a four day cruise. Yes you’re right the food is very very good. You do pay more for the cruise but when you go to the Disney parks you also pay a premium price for the food and most of the time the foods not good, why is that?
Been on DCL 5 times (including Alaska and Star Wars @ Sea). We were very happy with what we paid for what we received. We took a few years off and looked at them again and prices were running more than 3 times what we paid 😮
It also doesn’t help that they don’t have casinos. Definitely subsidizing some of the fares on most lines.
Man I have to disagree on whether it’s worth it. We are huge Disney fans but our last Disney cruise on the Dream was subpar. The kids were allowed in the adult areas including the adult pool and the crew had no interest in enforcing it. I think I prefer not mixing my 2 favorite things: Disney and cruising don’t mix for us so we will choose one or the other each time.
Have you ever considered a Cunard cruise? They are definitely different from what I see on your channel- we travel on QM2 with my in-laws - would love to see your perspective
They price themselves to max profit and capacity. How else would they price it?
One other factor that I didn’t hear is the lack of the casino pushing the price up. Reality is a casino ends up being a decent profit center. Generally to the tune of a few hundreds bucks a person.
They know parents will pay to make their kids happy. Their parks have out-priced a lot of people now. As seniors, maybe some day we will sail on one. They look beautiful.
The thing about the private Island is that every penny spent goes to Disney. Something i really dislike about these private islands.
Wtf are you talking about ITS A DISNEY owned island what do you expect rolls my eyes such a silly comment
Love DCL!
Ben and David have you booked the Treasure yet?
Disney does cruising the way cruising SHOULD be done. The ships are fabulous, the entertainment is amazing, the service is what cruising used to be years ago when only the rich could afford it. The food is above the other cruise lines and frankly so is the quality of passenger. Disney has priced the rabble off their ships. You might get some snobs and a few elitists, but you won't generally get drunken neglectful parents letting their kids run amok. By keeping their prices high they won't have the booze cruise types and I really wish I could afford to cruise with them. Everyone complains about what they charge because they can't afford to sail wiith them. Its not a right, its a privilege. If you can't afford Disney, cruise with another line or do what we are doing, save up for a few years and make it a cruise to remember. You get what you pay for, and you really do have to pay for the Disney experience, high standards and great service.
We have done 31 Disney Cruises with 32 to Panama Canal in less than 2 weeks. We are retired and live in Florida so we can choose less costly sailings which also usually have less people. We loved every single one of them and your review is spot on. Thanks to your reviews we are trying Celebrity next May Transatlantic. The price was some less but we didn't do all inclusive, that would have made it more. We are excited to try Celebrity but will always be frequent sailers on Disney.
We’re on that Panama Canal cruise! See ya real soon!
@@susanpinaz2224 awesome see you real soon🤩
Back in the late 90s early 2000s when Disney first started, their cruise experience was worth the price of the cruise no matter what it cost. However, recently their quality and service has sadly gone down hill since what they started with. Also, since Disney only has 6 ships (Treasure coming soon) currently a majority of their itineraries only go to basic ports in the Caribbean and Alaska and only embark-debark in certain ports. Other cruise lines have way better itineraries and port options. So for example if I’m leaving from say Port Canaveral, Disney is only going to the Bahamas and their private island. Their private island is wonderful, but to us no longer worth the premium. For example a 4 day cruise in a standard balcony room was over $4,000 for 2 people. We are able to take 3-4 seven day cruises on other lines to better more exciting ports.
We only cruise Disney and love to sail concierge. It is expensive but to us it is totally worth it 😂
why is disney plus streaming service so expensive?
They all are if you asked me, even your birthday cruise😮
Disney cruises are in the upper end of cruising costs. Yes they may coin in on the brand but the level of service is far higher than competitors. There is also no casinos on board, where other lines gain thousands extra revenue from gamblers. Would they be cheaper if they had a casino? Possibly but you'd lose more of what they are all about and the general service and feel of the ship.
Another bonus.....they announce each travel party a hearty welcome announcement as you first board. Do you get this level of service from mainstream lines? I think not. You get what you pay for, so add up all your nickle and diming and look at the total bottom cost to better judge and see who's overall service wins
