Dave , I just watched your video with Joey Cifuentes. I totally enjoyed it. I liked your comment regarding Dee Thonas. I fished with and against Dee in the day, to say it was a learning experience is an understatement. At 73 I'm still bass fishing tournaments. ( just club stuff) But I'm still flipping too. Haha! Enjoyed listening while I’m driving to orange boat ramp to marshal today, grew up in southwest Louisiana and east Tx we grew up wearing hats , still wear one everyday have clean one dirty ones but it’s not a thing for me

So funny how he describes bluegrass haha I hated it growing up and now I love hearing the stain glass bluegrass on sundays and love it now as an adult….funny how that works
Born and raised Arkansas boy (well almost 50 yrs old) here. In the Ozarks which is a little different than the river valley, but I also wear a straw hat when I fish kayak tournaments. Not a cowboy hat necessarily, but it sets me apart from all of the ball caps. Glad to see this episode. Good stuff. Good luck at the Sabine. The Good the Bad and the Ugly all the way. Outlaw Josie Wales too. You gotta love The Band. The perfect mix of country and classic rock. And with Arkansas/Canadian roots.
Nice to get to know Joey.... I'm tired of grumpy old men fussing about FFS ...I think it's interesting not boring...the same folks probably say baseball is boring ...branded ?? Did Joey ever work for the Duttons (that is a test Dave to see if you watch Yellowstone)

@@factsoffishing I understand about Pete Rose, when my grandsons and I had our photo taken with KVD at the TH marine booth at the BASSMASTER classic this year, he stood like a statue, and didn't respond when we spoke to him, weird.
First off Mr Mercer you are definitely not Pete Rose. My wife and I were at the Okeechobee tournament. We were standing watching the boats come in when I saw you getting ready to go into the weigh in trailer. I just said Hi Mr Mercer. You were not even facing us. The next thing I know is you start walking around the fenced in area walked up and just started talking with us. You did not makew it seem like you wre rushed and we talked for about 10 mins. Thats why wife and I love the elite series a true great bunch of people. Anglers and the staff that run it. One more thing sorry this is solong. We actually have something in common with Joey which I wish you would have known about it so you could have asked him. All the motels in Okeechobee and where does Joey stay The Pink Flamingo and so did we. Lets just say its not a 5 star place but just to show you how down to reath this guy really is. Thanks for all you do for the sport.

I feel the same way about Scott Martin honestly I was talking to him at Seminole I Marshaled and stepped over into Joeys boat to get into Larry’s. Little did we know he was going to win that was the first day. But back to Scott after Larry’s weigh-in we took a picture then I saw Scott and he literally can’t put his phone down for 2 seconds I was trying to ask him if I bring a favorite pro series rod would he sign it the following day and i had to ask him 3 times because he kept saying sorry hang on what was that again ? And I honestly was like wow and I didnt even bring the rod for him to sign. I guess you can call me petty but If I’m at an event I would put my phone up unless it’s a total emergency and I know he’s got a lot Going on but there’s fans there to talk to him and meet him

Funny how Mercer’s positions on everything (live scope, new Elite qualification, etc.) fall on the side of the industry’s profiteers. I wonder if he ever thinks about that.
If FF Sonar should be banned, let’s ban spot lock too… let’s get back to standing on the trolling motor like a one legged drunk! It should be illegal to park on top of a school of fish with GPS tech. Because fish always stay still and never move. Blah blah blah…. It’s soooooooo old! Fish On People!

I live in magnolia AR. Watch SAU baseball all the time and fish Columbia a lot. Didn’t realize until this podcast Joey went to SAU. Pretty cool
