May this become a prophecy.😂
Ok ok, gotta admit, I was skeptical at first, but this may be good. An actual villain? Let’s hope the best for this movie
I'll stay skeptical until the first reactions came
@@jorgecabezas1966a lot of first reactions praised this movie.
Yeah but what about the evil Queen doesn't she count as an actual villain or not?
@@victoriawilliams6286 No I just mean there hasn’t been a villain in a long time in a movie (frozen 2, Moana, Raya) and prob more that I can’t think of. So I’m happy and hood they keep him evil instead of turning him hood at the end, cause that’s what they all do now
I really do hope this movie is good, especially after Once Upon a Studio. That was one of the best things Disney has cranked out in recent memory.
13 years since Tangled, Disney comes back with a Villain, and a potentially powerful one at that. Yep, I'm hyped. Wonder if he's even gonna have his own villain song?
Bellwether is technically a villain in Zootopia.
@@movielover7565 I mean like a Disney Villain that of Mother Gothel, Gaston, Jafar, Ursala, etc. Bellwether is a twist villain like Hans, which only come into play in the third act of the film rather than having that kind of antagonistic presence within the entire/majority of the film.
He is! His song is called "This is the thanks I get" and he's also going to have a duet with Asha called "At all costs".
@@icelily270 oh yeah true
@@icelily270yeah, the type of villain that’s pure, unapologetic evil and fully embraces it.

WOW, I'm actually seeing an ACTUAL Disney villain? HOLY CRAP!!!
The animation, the intensity, the sheer force of EVIL!!!!
This is one of my most hyped up animated movies of 2023 right along with the Super Mario Bros. Movie!😃🙂🥰
Also, I haven't seen a Disney villain THIS awesome since Scar from the Lion King, and a Disney villain
with so much power since Jafar from Aladdin🙂☺😍🥰
And a green necrotic color, which accompanies every disney villain, one way or another.
Only thing that would make me him better would be hearing him sing a song about his motives.🤞Be prepared.

This looks genuinely promising. Disney better not mess it up.

This aged like milk
@@A_rando_9 indeed 😑🥛
People have been skeptical of whether Magnifico is really a villain, saying he's doing the right thing by not granting everyone's wishes.
But here's the thing: yes if Magnifico was a heroic character, that would be his reason. But he's not, he has an ulterior motive for hoarding wishes and this trailer proves that. I can't wait to see what he does!
I do think it’s worth pointing out that “Oh, the common people don’t know what they want, I alone can decide what is good or bad for society” is a common narrative used by despots throughout history to maintain power
Magnifico tells everyone that this is how things are, and that anything better is just impossible, and asking for more will only lead to the degradation of society.
And it seems like Asha is the only one willing to challenge it. To believe in a brighter future without King Magnifico.
I think it’s because the other trailers don’t show his full plan to keep power for his own greed. Most viewers are falling for his trick. 😂
He pretends to be a smart leader only granting a few wishes to keep the people happy and have a balance among themselves. But nope he is doing for his own good. People be damned and this whole granting wish things. I have the feeling the best thing it’s to get rid of it. No one would be allowed to have the power to grant that many wishes. Look at genie only 3 wishes per people😂
King Magnifico will be a great villain!
Especially with the strong cult leader vibes.
He’s like Miguel O’Hara from Across the Spiderverse, but worse!
@@olleselin Have you not seen the film? The dude’s a PYSCHO!!!!

I really wish people would stop judging this movie already, its not even out yet so please lets give it a chance 😭
Disney has messed up too often so yeah, people will be sceptical.
@@Nutmeg- even so, it's not fair to judge it like it's already flopped when it hasn't even come out yet lmao
One of many wishes that will not be granted thanks to the machinations of King Magnifico
People are just racist and against anything they deem "woke", even though wokeness isn't always necessarily bad
Disney has been making a streak of bad movies so it’s understandable why people think that way. However, it is true that the movie shouldn’t be judged before its release. I haven’t seen Disney movies lately but I’m actually willing to give this one a chance.
That King is definitely gonna be the Jack horner of Disney. Here's hoping that follow through with that trope.
It's possible he did something to Asha's real parents to get where he wanted.
@@CarbyGuuGuuI only hope people don't make it about skin color again and just enjoy things as they are.
@@Disneyfan82 and I hope they don’t redeem him for some stupid reason
@@rofutureman Man or woman, forgiveness and redemption should be earned, not taken by force.
@rofutureman my guy most disney films don't redeem
Ok. This confirms Magnifico is truly a villain. But I’m a little worried of Asha saying “We have to free the wishes.”
All of them? Or what does she mean by that? Then again. She said free the wishes. Not grant the wishes? At least not like I thought.
Because giving wishes isn’t the same as granting wishes. And I remember the article I read of Asha and Magnifico’s dynamic as hero and villain.
Asha believes that wishes are not just ideas. But that they also come from the heart. And taking away someone’s wish takes away an important part of them. And prevents them from using their own efforts to make their wish come true.
While Magnifico believe wishes to simply be ideas. And only grants the few that benefit him. While erasing most of peoples memories of their wish, and taking it away. While being self indulgent with the wishes of others. And justifies it by saying he’s sparing people of the pain of not having your wish granted. Ironic since he’s the one preventing it in the first place.
So it seems like Wish will take a bit of a different direction of what to do about the wishes than we thought?
That’s kind of what I was wondering. I can see the downside of granting every wish since sometimes we wish for things we THINK we want, but end up regretting. Sort of a “Monkey’s Paw” type of deal.
I like how the wish granting ceremony is SUPPOSED to work. You wish for something, you’re given the resources and chance to make it come true so it won’t be entirely on a silver platter.
I’m just wondering how Magnifico uses the wishes to his advantage? Like, let’s say someone wishes for a brick of gold. If he takes that wish, does he just manifest the brick and keep it for himself?
@@Bitsy83 I mean. I’m just assuming Magnifico takes advantage of most of the wishes based of what a read in an article about the movie.
And the tv spot or final trailer here shows him destroying a wish? And says how it turns him powerful? I don’t really know much more than that. But we’ll see how the movie deals with it.
I don’t even think that Magnifico is going to allow anyone to peruse their own wishes, because he wants to control them.
Come to think of it, ironically, if the Disney Corporation had the power to use magic to take away wishes like Magnifico did, to increase their revenue, they would use it.
ikr, i hope #asha is not suffering from toxic positivity hihihihi. Movie looks awesome though
Disney describes Magnifico as 'one of the most formidable foes in Disney history'. So far, he's impressing me. I hope he's on the same level as GOTG Vol. 3's High Evolutionary. A cold, ruthless bastard you love to hate.
Me too! From what we've seen so far, it looks like he's shaping up to be an instant favorite!
How I've missed this side of Disney!

I really hope he's a classic villain. I miss the days when we had Scar, Evil Queen, Hades, all the OGs!

Man the king is looking more insane as the trailer goes on. Let's see who will be the best evil king of 2023, Magnifico or Totk's ganondorf.
After seeing King Magnifico, all I can say is that I’m grateful we get to have a traditional Disney villain in over 13-14 years since Mother Gothel and Dr. Facilier after the past decade that Walt Disney Animation Studios just used either a Twist villain _(Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia),_ No Villain _(Ralph Breaks the Internet, Frozen II, Encanto, Strange World),_ or a Generational Trauma/Interpersonal Struggles _(Moana, Frozen II, Raya and the Last Dragon, Encanto, Strange World)_ as the antagonist.
Hopefully, Walt Disney Animation Studios makes more traditional villains in their future films moving forward following _Wish,_ because I don’t want Disney Animation to make King Magnífico just a one-time Traditional Disney villain for this film and then resume to doing Generational Trauma or Twist villains as their antagonists once again.
I understand but there’s nothing wrong with the one in big hero 6 I think they did a good job with it
@@ILoveJapan28Aalong with zootopia because zootopia is about finding the person who done it. They don’t straight out show who is the villain plus they shown hidden details of who the villain is

The best trailer… and this new song …WOW!!!!!
looks wonderful i pray it does well disney needs a hit movie this year.
GOTG 3, Sound Of Freedom, Elemental, etc. all did well in the box office.
I was initially kinda skeptical of the villain, like how they were gonna handle the whole "he's not very wrong at all in not granting the wishes that hurt the kingdom more than they help it" part, but this trailer clears that up well - he's not just collecting people's wishes cuz it makes him feel like he has greater power than he actually does, it's because they actually give him greater power
He seems like a classic Disney villain. Someone who loves to have power and would do anything to get more. Veiled as the kingdoms “beloved and handsome king” there will be those who are fooled by his trickery.

King Magnifico reminds me of Kai from Kung Fu Panda 3
Whilst I don't want there to be a twist villain. I really am hoping the trailers aren't giving EVERYTHING about the story away.
This looks promising.
In some ways I don't want to hear the other songs as they come out... i already cracked and listened to 'this wish'. Partially cos that's the one that's always been advertised in this whole thing.
I should hold off the rest until this comes out properly in cinemas.

A frequent narrative that despots have used throughout history to maintain power is that people cannot be trusted to rule themselves.
1:27 That is creepy and I love it
I think this movie is very loosely based on Donkeyskin, without all the incest part. But in that tale, the King is the villain and the princess (his daughter) has to run away from the castle so she can get safe from her father
My Theory on the story of Wish:
From this narrative, King Magnifico confiscates the wishes, which represent major dreams and goals, and grants them only to those who will benefit his kingdom in the long run. However, a significant issue arises when taking these wishes causes people to forget what they initially desired. Consequently, the populace becomes unaware of the king's covert agenda to magically enhance his own power with the wishes of others. Asha's objective appears to be to restore these wishes and assume the role of the new sorcerer responsible for properly managing the equitable distribution of wishes. It is worth noting that Asha disagreed with Magnifico for not granting wishes to most good-hearted individuals, favoring only a few in exchange for their loyalty.
Sounds very low stakes.
"However, a significant issue arises when taking these wishes causes people to forget what they initially desired."
How is that a significant issue? We constantly forget what we desire all the time, or we lose them, or our desires changes or we develop new desires. So they forget one of their wishes/desires, so what? Happens to all of us and none is for the worse for it.
"Consequently, the populace becomes unaware of the king's covert agenda to magically enhance his own power with the wishes of others."
This doesn't logically follow. The people forget one of their desires therefore they become unaware of the king's agenda? How does one connects to the other?
"Asha's objective appears to be to restore these wishes and assume the role of the new sorcerer responsible for properly managing the equitable distribution of wishes."
The wishes are supposed to be granted, not distributed. They are given to the king (or later, to her) to be granted. She either grants them or not.
"It is worth noting that Asha disagreed with Magnifico for not granting wishes to most good-hearted individuals,"
Just because someone is good-hearted doesn't mean they can't make bad wishes. As the saying goes: the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Just because something is made with good intentions or from a good-heart doesn't mean it would lead to good outcomes. It doesn't work that way.
"favoring only a few in exchange for their loyalty."
It is not like people aren't favoring others for their loyalty or support? That is pretty much how many transaction works.
I also don't see how this is evil either. So, a person favors others for their loyalty... they are evil now?
So far from what I can see, the film would have a very muddled message. The king don't grant all wishes, but Asha should not either because wishes leads to repercussions that you might not be capable of dealing. Again, as is said, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. That would makes Asha no better than the king in terms of wish granting for she is taking in wishes but doesn't grant them, or she would have to turn down most of them.
On the other hand, if they made Asha grant all wishes and it somehow results to great outcomes with no bad and complicated repercussion whatsoever, it smacks against the reality of these things. Even seemingly simple wishes like "I want a pet kitty" means you will have to be responsible in taking care of the said kitty and whatever trouble might come with it, which might not be what you want to deal with or expect (as often is sadly demonstrated by the many abandoned pets). Whatever the message is would then be detached from reality and has no real life application or value whatsoever.
Finally Villain
1:23 Is that the fairy godmother's wand?
Some people believed that King Magnifico might be a twist hero rather than a villain. However, I believe he’s instead going down a villainous path rather than be already being a full blown villain at the start.

But he isnt a twist villian since we know he is a villian
@@FilmReactor "Twist villian is a villian we dont see coming"
No, that is not exactly a twist villain is.
Well, a good twist is supposed to be not something we see coming, but sometimes we easily see it coming and thus know all along or it is already spoiled to us by some means, so "don't see coming" is not what define a twist.
A twist is just a radical change in the narrative. Like say, we thought they are in some alien planet populated by apes, but they are in (future) Earth all along.
In a twist villain case, a character that doesn't seem to be a villain at first, turns out to be.
In the king's case, the story initially presents him "a charming , kind and generous man;" then revealed later that he is evil... the classic twist villain. It doesn't matter if we know he is a villain, mostly from Disney saying it themselves, the narrative structure makes him a twist villain.
Compare this to the classic Disney villain. The moment the Evil Queen is introduced, we knew she is evil. She is presented as evil with no question. So is Maleficent, Scar, Ursula, etc..
