    this is common when the carbs are out of sync with each other. Basically when you rev and then let go of the throttle the RPM drops, then hangs and drops slowly because one of the butterflies is allowing more air in, so that carburetor adds more fuel, and you have one cylinder that is more powerful than the other ones which holds the RPM of the bike up while the other cylinders pull the RPM down. You can sync them by eye or with a feeler gauge if you don't have a manometer. (part 1)..

    The problem is the Harley key chain in the ignition. Get rid of that, and the bike will run correctly.

    to sync them by eye or with a feeler gauge(gauge is more accurate), take the diaphragm side of the carbs apart and pull the slides out. Hold the carbs up to a light source and look at the gaps between the butterflies, compare how much light is coming through. play with the main idle adjustor screw and the 3 little ones until almost no light coming through, it's easier if they are almost closed. when they seem the same, open them with the main idle screw to a sliver, start bike, adjust main idle

    I changed the spark plug gap from 7mm to 7.5mm and now I have no more engine problems.I also turned the fuel/air screw back 1/8 turn to lean it out just a little bit and now there is no more backfire at all and I have no problems launching the bike from a dead stop.There is no more hesistation in the throttle and I probably have the full 100hp these bikes had when they were new.now it is scary fast and now I`m afraid to give it just half-throttle because it launches so hard and fast CRAZY FAST!!

    its clearly running on 3 cylinders, therefore carbs MUST be synced

  • @mrjoe9308
    @mrjoe9308 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    with a kn air filter and irridium spark plugs (and apparently a free exhaust) your carbs are set way too lean for sure with standard settings . Try to set correctly the pilot screws and needles first . And maybe your main jets are slightly too little . Every changing in air filter , plugs or exhaust needs a full carb setting to run great and safe for the life of your bike man . .

    Had this problem too on thr same bike. Took out the carbs and cleaned the jets. The low idle jet was dirty and caked with crap. Cleaned the whole carbrueator and carb tuned all 4 carbs now my bike runs cherry and tightened the slack on your throttle cable and lube them. Spark plugs were gapped.at 06.

    ANY time you pull the carbs it's an xlnt idea to run the sync.
    Low miles or not, it needs it.

  • @Tj1056

    It is a mix of the carbs being out of spec and having your fuel mix screws not set right.

    haha sick. I've taken mine to 140 and it still had plenty left. I've seen videos of these cats going to 160. I think mine can do it too just don't have the space to go that fast though. Also, I have some hesitation at low speed from my 600r too. I think in this video your carbs DID need to be adjusted, BUT keep in mind the 600r uses basically a detuned r6 motor which runs super rough at low rpm. All of them are kind of jerky and have crappy throttle response below 2k rpm.

    Throttle cable sticking? Have you tried lubricating it? See if that helps.

  • @evanmorrow3333
    @evanmorrow3333 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your cables are adjusted right so throttle plates open at same time? (static sync) All cables routed properly and not binding any where? Are cables free moving (power lube them with tri-flow spray) Throttle snapping back when released and acting right? (do this with engine off at first) The spark plug caps on right? (use some kind of boot anti seize) How did it run before you messed with it? Is it different? You just gotta reason it out. Don't assume the carbs don't need syncing, but do it last. Make sure gas is filling each float bowl and drain some out of each carb checking for H2o and etc. Everything airtight? Clamps tight? That's all I can tell ya....

    Can be leaking manifold rubbers between carb and engine - if you spray WD40 on them while it's running and the engine note / revs change then this is the problem. If they leak they stop revs dying like they should, response not so good. I've done 70 000 miles on T'Cats in 3 years - trust me :-)

    You have two problems:
    1: Idle screws need to be turned out more
    2: Bike runs on 3 cylinders. Something wrong with wiring or carbs do not get enough gas.

I had an issue like that, and in my case I re did the carb clean again and also found one rubber o ring that was bad and did clean carbs the right way second time and it was fixed but I still think it can/should be more responsive then what I have .. also as I fixed that problem I ran into another won't idle well .. so I'm just collecting all the inf O I can. thanks !

      +paul chorniy just go through the normal checks, like spark plug gap, compression, fuel float height, air fuel screw turns, hopefully you dont have major vacuum leaks, if you have all the major and minor sorted make sure your bike can keep idle and get the carbs synced properly, if you don`t know how check youtube for good vids or i recommend a good motorcycle dealer or mechanic, good luck and ride safe brother!!!!!

    • @gmzo6
      @gmzo6  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      roshunda30 u might need a lot of thing but first make sure ur fuel injection lines r putting out correct pressure and ur air filters aren't clogged make sure the plug gap is correct don't just assume their good out of the box also make sure u have proper oil and it's at correct level TEST ur fuel injectors for good flow TH-cam search fuel injector testing but the best advice I can give is get a proper repair manual try Haynes or clymer there's a lot more info in those books then I can suggest but if nothing works then please go to a licensed professional motorcycle technician

    • @gmzo6
      @gmzo6  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i had a major wreck with my yzf600r in april 2013 i no longer have this bike but i believe that there are a few simple steps to getting your carbs setup to work properly albeit everything else like timing, compression and spark are working properly. first make sure that the carbs have been completely torn down,you do not need to separate the carbs individually,then make sure that there are no broken parts or any diaphrams that have cuts or tears in them, then you do a very thorough cleaning with carb cleaner in all the passage ways and all the little parts that are taken off, btw do each carb 1 at a time so you dont accidentally misplace any parts, then make sure that all the float needles are sealing properly,also make sure that all the float levels are at the correct distance, then check for any vacuum leaks or gas leaks, then do a simple bench sync by making all the butterfly valves the same gap at the bottom by placing an E string under the valve and tightening or loosening the sync screws so the valve give a very slight drag on the E string, do this to all the valves, anything else after this will be taken care of when u do your final running sync with the engine turned on, if i hope this has helped you out but if you need more specific information then you need to buy a proper YZF600R repair manual try HAYNES Service Manuals thats what i have for that bike & I HIGHLY recommend you watch Shane Conley videos on youtube, he is a Professional Motorcycle Technician & Instructor at WESTERN IOWA TECH he has very discriptive videos on carb cleaning and tuning also proper carb syncing technique

    hanging idle is a lean symptom. just turn the pilot screws out in small increments All the same until it stops hanging then sync the carbs. or maybe one of the carbs is dirty and slightly clogged causing a slight lean condition.

      +Pavlik Cambur you either have a vaccum leak some where or the carbs might need to be fully cleaned, if the carbs have the stock internals than its not a jet or idle jet issue, but if your, your backfiring may be from a few things, first just try taking the spark plugs out and cleaning them with a toothbrush and gas, then blow them off with compressor, then check the spark plug gap, the gap make a big deal, also make sure the float height or float level is correct, you can find this out on the Yamaha r6 forum
