I absolutely second this! I use my brompton for my daily commute and this video alone has given me some really good ideas for things I could add or change just to make my life that little bit easier!
I love your channel for all these reasons also. I finally found one of these marvelous bikes and it’s arriving next week. I can hardly wait! It seems that not only are the bikes sold out everywhere in the world, so are the all the life changing accessories. Making friend snd finding interesting places, even before it gets to my home. Thankful for your help.
I bought a velcro strap at my local Home Depot. Its a foot long and I use it hold the tire up when folded and the seat up to push it in stores. The package came with 3 for less than $5
I have done many mods to my S6L Black Lacquer. The three best are a 39t chainring, EZ Wheels and the EZ Wheels extender. The extender made such a huge difference in how well the bike rolls around. Like you, I roll it around rather than carry it. For me one of the joys of my Brompton is customizing it to completely fit my needs.
I absolutely agree with you. Customizing it to fit our needs makes it even more special! Rolling the bike here in the US makes people drop their jaws. haha as it was in Brazil. In UK, probably not so much, as people are more used to them.
I recently bought a soft water bottle cage for my Bromton. I like it because when I do have a water bottle inside, it doesn’t fall out upside down. I tried another soft version, but it slid out because I have steel insulated water bottles. This particular one works best for me and my water bottles. I also bought the Brompton tail lamp. I don’t have a rack but I’m thinking about getting it. I will be getting the Brooks grips today. Enjoy your videos.
My top upgrade was moving to Marathon Plus tyres (& Schwalbe tubes) and then keeping them at 100psi before every ride, since then zero punctures despite riding on multiple surfaces - they just work!
I recently fitted ergon bio cork grips to my Brompton which I recomend, they make a big difference especially on longer rides, you have to cut 10mm off them to make them fit, I have H type handlebars and they just clear the ground when folding the bike. I also changed the chainring from a 50T to a 44T as I find that most of the time where I live i’m constantly having to slow down for other road users so I was rarely in the highest gear for long. The 12% reduction in gearing also helps on hills when carrying a full load of shopping.
Those are definitely good suggestions! I also run on the reduced gearing, amd the Ergon grips add another level of comfort to the ride! Thanks for commenting!
thank a lot for these hints. We bought 2 Brompton bikes last week and we are thankful for your channel and your reviews about the Brompton bike. You give us a lot of information, a seller would not do, like the typical problems with a Brompton bike and the usability. Have a great day and stay health :-)
Brompton’s own bags are ace - my first recommendation. The toolkit is genius and has everything to get you out of trouble. And slime tyres - removing the rear wheel is a ‘Mare. Slime means less chance of punctures.
Those are good upgrades for sure! The bags really make life much easier. Forgot to mention them probably because I use them so often that I take it for granted.
Thanks - based on your review we got the décathlon bottle holders, they’re excellent, a very useful upgrade. Next one will be the eazy wheel extenders...
Hey~that’s the Einstein statue on the Georgia Tech campus! We rode through last September on our way to some Fox Bros~beautiful campus and good advice on the upgrades.
I bought a Canadian made bike, excellent in every way, called the Elby. I called it Mrs. Elby. .....I had it a Fall, Spring and Summer to ride. Complete joy, best purchase ever! ... then it was stolen at the end of Summer....totally crushed for months now. I am considering The Brompton. Any idea what the wright is? I’m also looking at Urtopia, because of all the new high tech stuff.
For me, my best upgrade has been the extended seat post. I just couldn’t get enough leg extension with the normal seat post. I’ve also added some small battery powered lights, at the top of the seat post and on the handlebars. They are very small so don’t interfere with the fold. I don’t ride that much at night anyway, so they are just if I get caught out.
I use a Monkii cage and clip on my stem to hold a water bottle. Also on a previous tour I used a waterproof backpack (Alpkit Gourdon) that I bunjee'd to the top of my rear rack and when folding the bike you can just carry it.
Love the color of the brompton . I got mine and my girlfriends brompton at the end of feb just before the whole pandemic started happening here in the us 🇺🇸 Love it and worth the price. Fyi i live in California Thank you for makeing these videos ✌
Well made Input of usefull and safety made things. ⭐ I placed my Westside Revenge Discgolf Bag over the Block in Front. Its easy cause he hast a stabile ground plate and some extra breast Strips fixing to steering column.
Hey Victor, really like the Dynamo lights! I too have fitted Ergon grips, they are just so comfortable to ride with. I have a Green leather Brooks Saddle and added a saddle bag in the same material. My Brompton was an ‘L’ originally, but I’ve added the Rack and easy wheels and a different suspension block (Green!). I haven’t yet added the little extender wheel option, but as soon as I can get a Green one I will be adding that too. Thanks again, Rog... 👍🏻 😉 🐍
Everyday Cycling I admit though, I’ve sold my folding bike in favor for my commuting road bike, because my commuting distance is medium range and I ride to work very early in the morning that the public transport hasn’t yet operational, and go home at rush hour that the bus is so packed I can’t bring my bike inside. So multimodal transportation is not an option. I see that you have a full sized bike with you, so you should make a video about riding with it.
What kind of cable did you use for the taillight? And can the Brompton still be folded with the cable through the frame and the seat post? And thank you for sharing your ideas!
Swooped my cast aluminium Brompton Rack for a super lightweight titanium one which offers a quite a weight saving as an Electric Swytch kit is going on next so needed to shed a few kg.
Digging these videos on your Brompton! I've been debating upgrading from the stock saddle to a Brooks (like I have on my other bikes). How did you decide on the Cambium? I've only had leather Brooks saddles, but was thinking it'd be nice to stay lighter if I can on the Brompton
Thank you Hector! Oooh I'll definitely take a look into those. I've had at least 5 punctures over the last 2 years, which is a surprisingly high number since I run on Marathon Plus. What are the tradeoffs with the Tannus? Any downsides, maybe?
You have to break them in and be patient. They're soft and have increased rolling resistance of 10-20% at first. I'm really loving them. I don't hesitate riding anywhere.
@@fotosaccion I just realized they're the same price as the Schwalbes, which is good. I thought they were more expensive. I may try one of them next time I need to replace a tire. Thanks for the tip!
I have 4 inline wheels on my rack, it really helps with rolling but like you said, it doesn’t make the bike more stable folded. I’ve tried Tannus true twice, I cut the first set off after few months, then I tried another set after a year, cut them off after 6 months.
I've seen people using those wheels. They seem to make it much easier to roll, even when compared to the Brompton EZ Wheels. What makes the bike really stable is the extender. Good to know of your experience with Tannus. I may start using one of those in the near future just to test them for myself and document my findings. But if you had all those problems, I may think twice, we'll see... Thanks for sharing your experience with those!
Uhm, I'm taking a look at their website and Restrap seems to have pretty awesome products. Thanks for introducing me to the brand. I may get something from them in the near future!
Thanks for the great content. How is the Toplight Line Brake Plus connected? I believe there 2 ways of connecting the wire: with the space type connectors or just inserting the two wires and closing the connector. Which one did you choose, is one solution better than the other? I am also thinking of changing the original spanninga solo rear light. Thanks for your help.
Hi, Victor. Thanks for your excellent videos and reviews. I'm brand new to Brompton, just got my first 6sp C-Line Explore bike and I'm really interested by all your comments. Any very recent accessories that you'd recommend?
Hi! Enjoying the channel, having just bought a Brompton :) I’d love to get the wheel extender, but I’m not practiced with DIY/bike mechanics so would want detailed instructions, and I am struggling to find an instruction video which would tell me how to install the extender on a bike with a luggage rack. Do you happen to have made a video / seen a video on this? Thanks!
That dynamo came stock on the bike... hehe it's a Shimano part. I'm not sure they use it today, I think they use Shutter Precision, which are just as good. But these are all parts sold by Brompton.
Love the wheel roller extender - planning to get one of those! Also love your black finishes, I’ve got a similar colour frame and I’m in the process of swapping silver bits for black. Correction - at £99 I don’t think the wheel extenders will provide enough value to justify the spend just yet!
great channel.im about to purchase a brompton and these little gems are so helpful. ill be purchasing these lights and extender. i was unsure whether to pick up the m6l or m6r but realised that the rack is the only difference. As brompton sell the rack separately and the m6r is hard to find here in the uk ill just pick up the m6l
Excellent video I get my first bike in November iv got upgrades for my bike when I get it there’s a lot of crap stuff the same out there so you have to be very careful .can you put MTB tiers on Brampton bike sir .
I ordered the Brompton X Bear Grylls with matching front backpack and steerweel pouch. My main question is which light set is the best visible and not getting blocked by big front backpacks?
Quick question - is the Dynamo already built into to the bike, or you have to get it installed ? As you can see I dont have a Brompton, but interested in one
Very nice looking bike! Is this raw lacquer still in good shape after many years? I see a lot of complain about rust. I am considering buying one myself, will it last as long as color one? Thank you!
Thanks, for this video, I was thinking on this upgrades also, but not exactly where to buy and not getting the nenefits thanks for this. Did you the changes but your own, Maybe a video of this will be usefull, or with the tips and the instructions can I do it myself?
Hi Victor, I recently got my Brompton and put on a wheel extender I got from Amazon. I took it into service the other day and the bike store actually said to take it off since there will be a lot of stress put on the frame if you have aftermarket solutions vs. the official Brompton wheels. What are your thoughts?
Thank you, Loken! The complete set of dynamo hubs and lights add 250g to your bike (considering that you're removing the original wheel and reflectors). In my case, the bike came with the dynamo and I just replaced the lights with some better options. It didn't really increase the weight. My bike weighs 14.4kg, so it's definitely one of the heavier Bromptons.
Great upgrades and video. Did same to my Brompton with the Lumotec front light and brake line rear light. Perhaps you can give more detail on how you modified and installed the light on the seat post. Would that work for the telescoping seat post?
I use the telescopic seatpost. It just makes it a bit inconvenient to remove the seatpost, as you have to unplug the light. I mean, it adds 20 seconds... I will make a video on that soon!!
@@EverydayCycling have you been able to create a video showing how you did the light mods? Especially how you routed the cable for your rear seat post light. I just ordered a Brompton and my biggest concern is beeping seen. Also what cable did you use to make the light connections for the light upgrades?
Did you find with the easy wheel extender fitted that you experience more heel strike on the wheels? Ive just fitted it and notice that the easy wheels are about 12mm further out than before.
like all your videos. they make me really want to buy one now. Too bad all the shops are out of stock right now. it also even harder to find a used brompton on craiglist or FB marketplace. hope you know someone have 2 bikes and ready to sell me one.
Hello Victor. I've been watching your video for a while, really like it. I'm doing some upgrade for my bike, would like to know what do you think about Garmin RTL515 RADAR?
Noted the Travoy mount on your seat post. Brompton does not like seatpost mounts for trailers and I found my Travoy very unstable on my Dahon as compared to use on a full size bike. Have you had any stability issues or flex with the Travoy on yourseatpost?
I haven't had any issues with the Travoy on the Brompton, but I do attach it pretty high, since I use a telescopic seatpost. Maybe that's it? I don't know. I've read comments of people having stability issues on folding bikes, but I've never experienced it.
Obrigada pelo incentivo diário para a aquisição da minha brompton! Será que no Brasil consigo fazer o mesmo upgrade que você fez na sua lanterna? I hope so! Ha!
Loved the EZ Wheel Extender, it seems it's out of stock. Do you know of any other place I can get it? I've tried eBay & amazon with no success. Keep up the Vlogg, love it! It would be cool if you talk about saddles, I also have a cambium & love it, but in your avatar you seemed to have the leather Brooks saddle, why did you change it? Also would love to hear if you have been traveling with your Brommie. Thanks a bunch!
Were you able to locate instructions as to how to install the wheel extender? I purchased the extender based on your recommendation (thank you, btw!). I have a 2020 Brompton M6 with a rear rack and EZ wheels. The extender arrived without instructions. Thank you.
You're going to love them! Now that you mentioned, I think I didn't receive instructions either. I found this video that may be helpful: th-cam.com/video/oN9e8SgujJM/w-d-xo.html In the description they have a step-by-step guide. You will need a 1.5mm hex wrench though, and it's usually not included in multitools. I ended up buying a $1 hex kit from walmart that worked fine. Be careful not to overtighten the small 1.5mm bolts, they're very small and the threads could be easily damaged if forced. Let me know if the video I sent you is helpful, otherwise I'll think of a better option to assist you!
@@EverydayCycling Thank you very much! I note the video is showing installation on a Brompton without the rack installed. I assume it doesn't make a difference? I will need to pick up a 1.5mm hex wrench -- I appreciate the tip. I'll tackle the install over the weekend. Again, thank you. May you enjoy your Brompton as much I do. I look forward to more of your videos.
Thanks for these tips. Is the wheel extended robust? I’m concerned the narrow tube might bend. I push my folded B over rough tarmac some considerable distance and the longer the tube the greater the forces acting upon it.
Rather than ‘sport cycling’ we need more vlogs like yours that encourage and provide education on ‘Everyday Cycling’.

I took it into service the other day and the bike store actually said to take it off since there will be a lot of stress put on the frame if you have aftermarket solutions vs. the official Brompton wheels. What are your thoughts?
Great video! How much does your brompton weights after you've installed the dynamo lights?
Thank you, Loken! The complete set of dynamo hubs and lights add 250g to your bike (considering that you're removing the original wheel and reflectors). In my case, the bike came with the dynamo and I just replaced the lights with some better options. It didn't really increase the weight. My bike weighs 14.4kg, so it's definitely one of the heavier Bromptons.
@@EverydayCycling whats your dynamo lights brand?
Brilliant info , I've always wanted a Brompton 😔 it's the Rolls Royce of foldable bikes 👍 how much did you pay, and how much are the extras please?
What drill bit did you use to enlarge the handlebar to accommodate the Mirrycle bike mirror?
Hi Victor, the Ezwheel extender used, will it cause Heel strike when riding?? tks
What kind of upgrade to the Brompton Electric lights would you make? How would they connect to the Brompton battery?
Is it advisable to make a brompton tubeless? I'm actually planning to get 1. But I'm not sure if its compatible with a tubeless tires. Thank you ☺️☺️
Great upgrades and video.
Love your videos!!!
Obrigado lalazinha!
I would like to know your thoughts about your brooks saddle. Is it better than a leather Brooks?
What's the brand of the bigger front bag you are using? Do you have the link where we can purchase it? Thank you!
like all your videos. they make me really want to buy one now. Too bad all the shops are out of stock right now. it also even harder to find a used brompton on craiglist or FB marketplace. hope you know someone have 2 bikes and ready to sell me one.
Yeah, people are really struggling to find these bikes at the moment. Apparently this whole crisis sold them out!
How much does a Brompton bike cost? Does the toolkit and pump come with the bike or must be purchased separately?
Do you like the Busch & Mueller lights over the Cateye?
i wonder which phone holder would u recommend for M handle bar?
I like your videos. I have a Brompton ebike and most of the upgrades don't fit for the ebike, suck as bags. Can you do a review on the ebike ? Thanks
Hi Victor, I am curious as to what field you are working on in graduate school. I understand if you can't reveal it due to privacy issues.
Great job Bro.
Thanks!
What is the 2nd best cheaper similar bike ?
I found this video that may be helpful: th-cam.com/video/oN9e8SgujJM/w-d-xo.html
In the description they have a step-by-step guide.
Sure! Let me know how it goes! And you're correct, the rack doesn't make any difference.
@@EverydayCycling Installation was a piece of cake! Thank you for the recommendation.
Thanks for these tips. Is the wheel extended robust? I’m concerned the narrow tube might bend. I push my folded B over rough tarmac some considerable distance and the longer the tube the greater the forces acting upon it.
