Even if I dont like this character, you have to give Remedios some credit. She is until now the first and only one to suspect that Jaldabaoth has somekind of relationship with Ainz.

@@enricomartinelli9159How so? Injecting real-world experiences into his novels makes Maruyama's works more believable and more relatable, hence stronger stories
She is so infamous that her Overlord Wikia Page mentions that Remedios is called Retardios by the Fandom, which shows considerably how much she is known and disliked for her character. I personally do not hate her and just feel pity. As mentioned by the video, she is like a child realizing that her ideals are probably wrong, throwing tantrums and acting extremely paranoid. She lost her sister and her queen, so the only thing she has left are her childish ideals and dreams. I personally would love to see her have her mentally growing into a fine adult woman, but she is eager to stay stubborn.
Well it has to do with the fact, that the fan translator Nigel had used Retardios as her name in his first draft of translation. It was changed to Remedios in later revison
I doubt she is going to develop in that direction. With her dogmatic and paranoid worldview she will turn people away from the established religion into neias arms or she will start to turn into a terrorist to fight the followers of Ainz in the kingdom. With that the coming civil war will come sooner and make it easier for Ainz to come in and be the saviour who reestablishes order by taking the kingdom into his domain.
Calca, Kalart, and Remedios all make up one part of what's needed for successful leadership. Calca is the heart, Kelart is the brains, and Remedios is the muscle. The problem is, without the brains, the muscle doesn't even know what to do with its own strength. Remedios is the most helpless without the other two. If she died, Kelart could likely steer Calca into making the right decisions. As for her comparison to Gazef, their environments make up why he's a bit more ell known and successful than her. Remedios is geared toward defeating evil-aligned beings, so when her opponent's karma level isn't what she stereotypes them to be by their race, she's suddenly in trouble.
Exactly this. She is a big part of a machine. And until the worse thing she could think of was right in her face she always followed the instructions of the other two to the letter. Now that they are dead, she is an unguided tool of destruction.
To add to that, I hated those two too, they had the supreme authority of the country and they were incompetent af. Remedios wouldn't even be the commander if she wasn't the queen's best friend (I can't say that for her sister coz she while being smug actually knew wtf she was doing).
She is the best example of why you don't make your front line assault unit the commander of the army. Imagine how better everything would have gone if she just one of the colors and the quines bodyguard and have someone else as commander. While Calca and her sister were alive she had someone to point her in the right direction. She reminds me of Shalltear, an arrow that you point at the enemy army. But even Shalltear, an NPC with no life experience, was able to learn from her mistakes and improve.
As much hate as Remedios get, she was the only one (I recall) who suggested that Ainz and Jaldabaoth was working in cahoots with each other. Sure it was based on her prejudice but she's actually right!
That's the beautiful part about it, since she was the one who insisted on the possibility of Ainz and Jaldabaoth working together it made Gustavo and that other priest who was in the room less inclined to believe her and chalk up her rambling to her hating on Ainz.
Yes, but her reasoning was flawed. Which makes her correct assumption as good as getting a passing grade on a test by guessing answers. This is why you show your work and had her suspicions been elucidated clearly or presented evidence to prove her statement then she would have been validated even if nobody believed her. We would have known and if she was intelligent in her assessment we as the audience would have credited her. But no, she was right because of her prejudice, nothing more, and her stupidity in her rationale actually discredited her statement in the eyes of her peers. She was correct in the worst way possible.
Ever heard of the expression "Even a broken clock is right twice a day"? Well Remedios is the broken clock who just happened to be right about this 1 thing
Oh god you're right. You can tell when someone has only a surface level understanding of role playing in D&D when they act like her, they're the reason paladin's alignment are often affectionately referred to as "Lawful Stupid". Thinking about it, Overlord is heavily inspired by D&D, so Remedios may even be a meta joke on the authors part about bad paladin players and saying "this is what you look like when you play a paladin like her".
Indeed a bad paladin is one that uses the letters of their class as an excuse to do anything, the kind that higher powers (popularly known as DMs) tend to force into moralistic catch-22 situations. A good one is that uses the spirit of their class to inform their decisions rather than being bound to them. If you were meant to go about like a fundamentalist madman murder-hobo the class would've been named Zealot after all. One of the things I really like about the 5th ed is that Paladins aren't bound to simple and highly problematic to define "Good", "Law", and "Evil" labels anymore.
I generally play a paladin similar to space marines. Everything that isn't me or my god must be purged. Thats why I prefer my chrono wizard armed with a guaranteed geas.
Well. Not quite. Shonen protags don't go around abusing the help. They may get abused BY the help, but they don't abuse the help. Remedios abuses the help, namely one Nfreia. The girl did everything humanly possible to be of assistance, risking her own life several times over, and in fact Remedios would be dead on several occasions were it not for Nfreia, and yet how does Remedios act? Remedios acts as if nothing Nfreia does is ever enough to even simply tolerate her existence. She berates, insults, condemns, and even beats up on Nfreia every chance she gets. And when Nfreia DIES protecting the city gates, Remedios looks on her with disgust, and GETS ANGRY that Ainz shows up, nominally putting himself at risk, since he'd be in a worse spot later fighting Jadalboath, to rescue her and revive Nfreia. Small wonder Remedios is hated.
She reminds me of a DND joke about Chaotic stupid Paladin player repeatedly refuses to do things that are necessary to complete the mission. Example: we need an artifact to complete the mission the museum refuses to sell or give it to us so we have them so you’re going to have the rouge steel it the paladin won’t allow that to happen because stealing is wrong even though it would save the world
I think the reason demi urge is more popular/sympathetic is because he's so super villain like that we can like- Detach our real world feelings for him But remedios is based on a real person her actions and behaviors are more in tune to reality than demi urge, and we probably met someone kinda like her so hating her is more relatable
Well, that and Demiurge's villainy is off-screen while his redeeming traits, such as treating the other Guardians and his subordinates kindly (such as when he rescued Entoma) are all highly visible. The reverse is true for Remedios. All her nastiness is on-screen, while her so-called redeeming virtues are all implied, at best.
You aren't, but that's what the author wants you to do. By all measures, Ainz is a genocidal/homocidal/megalomaniacal tyrant. But we are given a story that makes us cheer for him. And ALL of the enemies he faces are less evil than him, but they are also less competent. Since Ainz does not feel any emotion towards it, we don't tend to demonize hiim over it. Plus most of his horrible things are planned and implemented by Demiurge who normally acts like an innocent worker that never has a bad word to say. That is until he talks to humans, then you see a bit of his evil spill out. And I love Ainz as well.
@@DarthPoyner every hero is the villain in someone else's story. By all means, killing and genociding is bad but it really is not unique to Ainz, the new world is in the middle ages where life was worth less than gold so to the common folk(such as Carne village) Ainzs actions aren't worse than what they already know. So I would say that after the blood runs dry people in the new world will actually live better in a unified or semi-unified continent with a ruler that is trying to apply modern living standards to them
@@enricomartinelli9159 what we consider bad depends on who “wins” and the rest is morally accepted by the people as a necesity of the time, that is why Rome is seeing as one of the greatest civilizations and no one questions their brutal expansion. Genocide is a modern coined term after all and it just reflects what has always happened in history
8:44 I will play the devil's advocate now. That conclusion was perfectly understandable, since she had no way of knowing that it was an abnormal adventurer. In terms of power, Remedios WAS the best of the best and in normal circumstances it would have been a good call on her side that she is capable of winning. Blaming Qeralt for being incapable of forseeing the attack and making overall stupid decisions may have been an effect of grief, since as far as i remember, she witnessed complete destruction of her and death of her sister. I personally pitty her more than hate her and i had a feeling that she was already 'gone' as a person when she was in charge of fighting demihumans back. Community is quite harsh while judging her and i can see why, but she really had been through a lot.
it could be that too, but i think what makes people really hate or at the very least feel uncomfortable with her is the fact that 1st: she never learns and also never feels grateful,Like when ainz thought more logically than all of the survival army and she never thanked him and didn't reflect on events to know if her ideals really were right, like in the case of the boy at the Demi-human camp.Always putting her dogma above common sense and blaming the whole world for her mistakes except herself. 2nd: the clear racism and xenophobia she feels for Demi-human and heteromorph races, in this case I even give her a discount, Demi-human races are violent and barbaric almost in general,But that's it, almost. Just like human beings, we were shown that there are beings that even though they were of "violent and barbaric" race were still extremely human and civilized, making us really like them and we get attached to them (like the meat village goblins or the empire arena champion) and even though she saw this on her visit, she didn't change her thoughts and continued looking down on them. People don't like those kind of people, you know? 3rd: her way of releasing her own post-traumatic stress on other people for no reason. When Néia struggled almost more than the other paladins (even though she was a squire) remedius always screamed, kicked, accused and humiliated Néia to try to undo her stress due to the invasion and the death of her sister and queen, in addition to trying to cover her own wounded ego, Since she was being less useful than a squire, she was being useless as a commander and not getting any relevant achievements to help her people or on the battlefield. Well, at least that's my point of view. If there are any spelling mistakes I'm sorry, English is not my native language. And I understand the side of remedius, only to understand and forgiving are two different things.
I was wondering why she never suspected Momon of being a non-human. As far as human fighting prowess goes in the new world she was probably on par with the best. And in her first encounter with Jaldabaoth it was already apparent that she was just ant fighting against an elephant. And for Momon to be able to repel such a being is highly sus.
@@bernardjameswilson She probably had different things on her mind, like Qeralt missing, the queen dead and that whole being the main strategist of the war might have make her a little too busy to think about such things
@@bernardjameswilson simply by the fact that she sees everything in white and black. There's no logic whatsoever in her reasoning. Why are Jaldabaoth and Ainz in cahoots? because they are both non-humans. Why is Ainz helping us without any benefits? because every non-humans are obligated to help humans. Why was Mormonga able to repel Jaldabaoth? because he's human and humans are the embodiment of justice. Basically, she's like a cult member that will judge you based on your faith(race) or lack of.
Imagine Demiurge going to a beaten Remedios, while explaining her what he has done with his sister, the queen and the human prisoners inside his concentration camp.
I would argue against Naruto’s lack of planning, it’s not that he can’t plan ahead, but that he specializes in thinking up plans on the fly for the situation at hand. Which why he surprises many opponents, because he adapts quickly even with such a limited arsenal. Anyway, enough on that, loving the video! I don’t hate Romedios, I understand her character is meant to be, but I do dislike her inability to act.
What _is_ similar about her and Naruto on the other hand, is that both of them are unrealistically idealistic. The difference is, in Naruto's world, he is presented as being ultimately right, even though by most logic, he should not be. But in Overlord, Remedios is clearly depicted as being totally delusional in her methods and why always hoping for a best-case scenario is stupid. It's like someone once said, when you try not to get anyone killed, you wind up getting _everyone_ killed.
@@carlabrams9868 It's called Protagonist Centered Morality. It's a Trope used where the audience is expected to agree with the main character in all situations, even if they are wrong. For example, Jiraiya and Tsunade accepted that Orochimaru is no longer their friend. They accepted clear facts presented before their eyes. But when Naruto refuses to acknowledge something as being real, he stubbornly denies it until the narrative proves him correct. Even when he _shouldn't_ be.
@@SnowyWolborg that's something I couldn't wrap my head around, the fact that sasake became a traitor to the leaf, so when naruto and the pink haired girl were trying to get him to come back i was confused as hell(didn't they know traitors get sent to that prison shown in part one for life) mizuki got sent to prison for life for TRYING to leave the leaf village but sasake actually succeed in abandoning the village so I could only imagine what his punishment should have been. Personally I like the massage the show try to present but I hate how forced they made it out to be, it came off as salf-centered. Part one of naruto was my show because it was just about a kid trying to find his place in the world. Sorry if I don't make much sense I was writing as it came to my mind.
@@carlabrams9868 Dangi Abrams I think for Naruto, he sees Sasuke as a friend who is in a dark place and needs help. That way of thinking appeals to some people, but *most* will tell you there's no coming back from certain things. I didn't mind Sasuke turning on the village. But only as long as he has to deal with the consequences that come with that decision, because there really should be no coming back from that. But Kishimoto's boner for the Uchiha people makes him come up with ways to justify their treachery so that they can be "redeemed." I understand that the message that Kishimoto was attempting to portray is that revenge doesn't put you in a good place in the end and that violence and war is wrong, but it's just not written that well.
12:13 Leave Anakin alone dude. He was born dark. He was a manipulative little sith from birth. Remedios, is a mirror for 9/10ths of twitter. OR if you like, she's what ainz is becoming. He is convinced his friends are somewhere on the world, he has created a false picture of how things were, and clings to it. Meanwhile he is causing suffering, death ,and misery where ever he goes. The plan was to conquer the world, not kill everyone in it.
No. No. No. Anakin wasn't born dark. Like where the hell did you even get that idea from?...Wait, don't answer. The garbage licensed fanfiction that is the EU, right?
I would argue this: that paladins specifically must be dogmatic and unrelenting by the very nature of their power. Just as, in the new world, people are attracted to physically powerful people we must understand it doesnt function completely with our understanding of our current worldviews. Paladins swear oaths to gods to gain power breaking or bending on an oath causes power dissipation. So it encourages extreme dogmatic behavior. If I swear to live all my life fighting gods foes, and the belief that I am not being true to my oath causes my weakening, then i will fight gods foes wherever i find them and as soon as they are found. If i didnt i would lose power and eventually be killed by my lack of honor in my pact with 'god.' This mindset must leak over to other facets of life. I would say that this mindset is the source of her high paladin level effectiveness. So in summation what makes her dogmatic and xenophobic is the same token mindset by which her greater than standard powers are derived. The more dogmatic she thinks everything the more her faith is focused condensed and enriched. This was rambling and I will also qualify that I haven't read the books she is in yet (waiting to buy the english hardcovers)
I personally do not agree with this. However, leader of Paladin order has to be highly dogmatic fundamentalist. That is because of their background because they are mostly based on Charlemagne's knights and later Knight Orders during period of Crusades. To me, it would be to idealistic if author made Remedios "see the light" and have a change of heart. It simply doesn't fit the role of leader of paladin order. That is why I personally do not dislike Remedios. She fulfilled her role really good and she was pretty well written (I personally especially liked her devotion to Calca). The only way I would've like if Remedios had a change of heart, is if she changed completely and became Fallen Paladin with evil alignment. But that needs too much development to waste on an side character.
I agree. She shouldn't change her mind. As I stated it could weaken her if she did. What if she accidentally got a level in scholar for educating herself too much? Lower effectiveness inst worth the risk. Besides, doesnt ainz delegate to competant people all the time? Anyway I dont think she is racist just xenophobic and understandably so when one of the cultures out there eats human babies like Veal. (Trolls)
@@danilobodroza7244 we got neia's development from a squire that wanted to become a paladin to a fearsome archer that believe that weakness is a sin, I was satisfied with that
In a combat heavy DnD campaign it could work, but in most well-written campaigns such a character would get easily destroyed from social interactions. Players are rarely all powerful or are the strongest forces on the side of good after all. Such a character easily gets bonked off by a social gaffe or a sudden laser-guided karma boulder/lightning bolt.
i do understand that Remedios should be pitied for all her losses, and should be sympathized with.. she lost the kingdom, her queen, and her sister, and her military powers were ignored thanks for the unreal power of the undead king.. but her personality and stupidity, single track mindedness and her stupid belief that everything will work according to her own ideals whether the world likes it or not! ... is just pathetic! insulting, torturing, belittling, and screaming at others around her, making fun of a TOTAL STRANGERS to us all! the Squire Neia Baraja! who was literally a nobody from the start of her volume, and as we walked side by side with Neia we began building a liking towards her while at the same time Remedios keeps belittling her, while Neia's vision changed as she had time with Ainz and she began to realize his power and greatness, she truly respected him! and we respected her as well! Neia lost both her parents, her queen, and her captain's sister.. YET she grew up and kept going forward! until she met up with Shizu in which point ... the ship! between a human woman with a terrifying looking face, and an android assassin automaton began! everyone began cheering both of them, and the amount of faith and dedication Neia showed towards making sure Ainz was alright, built respect and love towards her in the hearts of the readers! Neia represented us all at the same time! a mere human being going into an adventure and rising from zero to a faceless great speaker of his majesty's feats! unlike Remedios and her sister and their queen, Neia was not designed as a symbol of power, beauty, or intelligence she was just a mere squire! a maid for the knights! HELL even Ainz thought that when he revived her that he wasted a good wand over a useless cause! but low and behold! Neia began a religion based on his majesty! ... what is there to not like about miss Baraja and to like about the moron Remedios? thanks very much for the beautiful video bro! great work and nice visuals! ... by the way any idea if the 14th volume is out yet?

Well... You skiped or generalized a few of them but yes. We should remeber that Ainz (aka Demiurg) is playing big game, he wants to dominate the world to create nation of all races. Which is acctually kind noble in New World. When you build a house and there are ants you change location? No. You unwillingly destroy them since you are something bigger. Retardios has no big plan, doesn't see big picture and has no idea how world works. That is why she killing or rather her order leading ti death of 1 person is greater sin than Ainz killing many people. Remedios is what happens when you outsource your morals and thinking to other people, and then you lose said people. I suspect that is why Calca and Kelart were removed right at the beginning. What you then have is whatever is left of Remedios. That is her training as a paladin, all the dogma and prejudices that comes with it. Even that starts to erode when she is forced to make more and more decisions that goes against her training. Like killing hostages or accepting Ainz's help. Previously she was the strongest paladin in the Kingdom and accustomed to having full control of her life through her power. Now her strength seems like a joke when faced against Jaldabaoth's might. Her personality wasn't a pleasant one to begin with and it only got harsher as her sanity slipped away. That said, her fellow zealot and direct contrast, Neia also didn't do so well when she thought Ainz died fighting Jaldabaoth. But she had a far more developed personality to fall upon and could make proper decisions.
I’m going to physically cry if overlord doesn’t make it to atleast 20 novels this isn’t my typical anime but after catching up in the manga I’m distressed knowing it has to end sooner then later and it hurts me I love this story so much almost to a detrimental level. I wish overlord had a higher budget to equal the grandeur that this manga has shown. Fuck I’m bitter.
Hey man read 'lord of the mysteries' it's pretty good first 70-80 chapters is world building so it's a bit slow but still good. After that shit gets crazy yo, man turns into a key.
People of Holy Kingdom: "Ainz is a good person and saved us all" Remendios: "bUT hE'S uNdEAd" I cannot help, but resume the video, just to hear this phrase over again. It's just so funny to me
Well there is a point to be made here because Remedios in any other story would would be the ideal shonen MC maybe a favorite and not just her ,but climb ,brain ,gazef and even foresight each. Thought I guess that means that they would just get lost in the vast sea of other similar typical shonen and be overlooked.Just to be clear i'm not defending her just pointing out my thought.
@Devin Howe she would happily kill demi-human children who are close friends to humans. dont know about you but that is basically a MAJOR sin in typical shonen shows.
Meh, much as I like people sticking to their ideals Remidios is the type of person I highly dislike if not hate with a passion. Inflexible, simple minded, racist, holier-than-thou attitude with no real world knowldge to back it up, twisting facts to suit her needs (even if she was correct this time she did so unconciously out of hatred), two-faced, and lack awareness of social/political norms despite her station.
So, Remedios (from someone not up to date on this) is the Overlord version of Lu Bu from Dynasty Warriors. She just needs to hit things Hard enough and let Calette (Chen Gong in this metaphor) do all the planning stuff.
Ok Remedios is bad as she is just too good Then why everyone hates Platinum Dragon Lord. He is practical hero of new world. Reality is we hate Good And enjoy talking about Demiurge's Happy Farm as long as someone takes us There.
PDL is definitely not a "hero" by most people's definition of the word. He lets the world he is supposed to protect decay and become awful and only acts to "help" it when it benefits him. This channel even has videos explaining his "evil"-ish character.
A blunt instrument if I ever saw one. I would call her a hammer, but even a hammer is somewhat refined. So more like a club or an unprocessed wooden branch.
Remedios believe " Right is Right , Wrong is Wrong " .there is no middle or halfway justice. I like her because of that believe and her anger was excepted . Just think if Naruto or Luffy lost in final battles , don't you hate writing of author.
You know, she may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but when a person of little intellect comes onto a fact that holds true throughout their life they hold fast to it. And her "Undead Bad" and "Demon Bad" are completely true. COMPLETELY. And even though she didn't come about those thoughts from some thinking or fact finding, they are still completely true things that she holds to. So don't take that info for granted. And to your comparison to the standard shounen MC, she at least earned her power and place. She fought with her life on many occasions for her people and earned it. Unlike the Mary-sues in the other shows. Not sure why I am defending her. She wasn't that big of a character, just a foil made for plots.
Ah yes, Expensive Medicine, the Phillip with breasts of the Holy Kingdom. I understand the hate for Remedios but I have always understood that she has been through A LOT and yes she IS a stubborn character with a limited amount of brain cells but she lost her country just like her queen and her sister she cared very much and was extremely dependent. She just couldn't take it anymore after those losses with no one to guide her or her sword, leaving with nothing more than her (predisposed) hatred towards all the inhuman "enemies" who took her world from her.
Well the main reason i dont like Remedios is because she was mean to Neia. At the end of the day she was right. Ainz and yaldabaoth were working together. Her real flaws are prejudice and rudeness. She simply was not fit to lead and she was placed in her rank mainly in order to be able to be close to her sister and queen who were giving her directions.
I never saw Umbridge as worse than Voldemort. She's frustrating, and evil, but she's not going around straight up murdering people. While being treated unbelievably unfairly can be difficult to deal with, being dead is a bit more difficult to recover from.
The umbridge literally sent the dementors to kill Harry and condamned a lot of innocent to die in azkaban only because They were not halfblood or pureblood...
"Brain's one level in cook is going to come back in the end", and other hilarious jokes I tell myself and only myself because no one wants the hear about my love for Brain.
This is the difference between a hated character being a bad one, and a great one Remedios is a fantastic character to have in the series Someone like Philip is a fantastic character to have in a series
I would have like to see 2 things to happen to this character. The first one would be a change of hearth at a given time. It didnt happen, but I thought "well theres people like that in the world" sticking to their ideals no matter the evidence or enviroment to the bitter end. The second thing was someone telling the vice captain to stop defending and apologizing for her. If she couldnt see her errors then she could not merit forgiveness. I lamented more the second than the first, Because it shows the radical and dogmatic ways the knights work and live by, and why they failed at the end. This would have happened sometime in the future without the need of a Jaldaboth. Only a very strong/intelligent demihuman could have united the other demihumans and plunge the holly kingdom into chaos
I'd wager the crowd who hope Ainz will someday be defeated by some rising hero of justice may make the same mistake with Retardios that they did in thinking Climb would be that hero. only to again realize that there are no heroes in this series. All of the greatest powers in the New World, Dragon Lords and Players alike were all power hungry conquerors who caused enormous amounts of death and destruction to build their empires, well excluding the Minotaur Sage who chose a quiet solitary life just chilling and inventing stuff to raise the world's standard of living. Still, the one common theme of them all is that sooner or later, they were brought down, betrayed or died of old age. It may take millennia, but with strange aeons even Nazarick may die.
The only way nazatick would die is to be brought down, the npcs are absurdly loyal and even kill themself if ordered, and ainz and most of nazarick is imortal, cant die of old age

Such guilds do exist, and Nazarick would be doubly screwed if its the biggest of all guild who also happen to be high on positive karma. They'd also need to force a battle outside of both guild bases since neither side would have the resources to conquer the other's guild base, but outside on an even battlefield, multiple players VS Ainz, and their NPCs vs Nazarick's NPCs with all escape cut off for both sides, Nazareick would probably lose and need to retreat into the Tomb whereupon the enemy would enact a guild base siege to deplete Nazarick's resources. An argument could be made for the 8th Floor NPCs joining the fight, but its a question of if they are still effective fighting outside of their floor, and also since friendly fire is a thing in New World and wasn't a thing in the game, the 8th floor might be less effective in New World.
@@dreadrath That's what I'm thinking. I think players with LV around Ainz with skills that can counter anything the floor guardian can throw at them is enough... the biggest problem would be strategy (there are 2 big-brain in Nazarick)

Not to mention an enemy guild base could have more level 100 NPCs than Nazarick. Nazarick has a lot of NPCs levels wasted on useless NPCs like the regular maids and even the battle maids who, apart from Sebas and Omega, are fodder to players. AOG were a roleplay guild so its understandable they waste levels on such things, but a more dedicated power gaming guild might have a roster comprised entirely of min/maxed or super streamlined level 100 NPCs (Of the guardians, only Shaltear is min/maxed) Meaning any fight outside of the tomb would be disadvantageous. Ainz himself is a skilled player, but he's only at the upper end of the mid tier of player. If he's using the guild weapon I'd place him at the middle of the top tier, but even then, he's far from the best, he's said as much himself, its why he's frustrated when the NPC's claim his power is far greater than it is. He knows he's not the best, that's why his paranoia forces him to find any possible way to make himself or Nazarick stronger. The dude knows there's players who could whoop him 1 V 1.. He especially fear multiple players, and fears even more multiple players with a guild base. I may have my gripes with Ainz, but I do respect his internal humility in never losing sight of his limits.
Annoying yes, stupid yes, no reason to hate demons..........rrrrrrrrr absofuckinglutely not. Witnessing the one person you idolized and represented good to you and were close too be used as a living mace being broken apart and then seeing her remains as a decayed and falling apart (talk about a new bar for cinematic level display of evil hehehehe). After that, can't say i blame the singleminded hate boner she has for a literal fucking evil devil. Yeah I despise this type of character, but I can understand the hate she has for Demi. Remedios is hated herself for the same reason why people hate overly focused and unchanging people irl. I really don't understand the Demiurge praise though, this guy is dedicated, but absolutely evil and causes suffering for the sake of it, I am just shocked that an absolutely logical nature of the undead hasn't caused Ainz to execute him for being wasteful on actions just for the sake of causing torment. I am really shocked as to the amount of wasted effort, time, and manpower goes in to "Happy Farm" when it could be made in to a factory of perma Coma'ed regenerating people, tube fed, and streamlined for harvesting max amounts of components. Demi has to be the most intelligent person, but ultimately I prefer the cold logic of the undead.
The thing is remedios failed at her most important role protecting the queen. Then being rude to accept help. Yes I know it’s Ainzs plan but PR is so important for the morale of said nation.
well, people might hate remedios, but she hit the spot on ain't just flying around spreading his influence in the siege, also her trauma after seeing the queen being used as a weapon must have made her hate greater. but she is just so unlikable, she doesn't seem capable of critical thinking, her mentality is very stupid for the situation she and the whole kingdom is in, wanting to sacrifice ain't even if it might mean that the remnants of the whole sorcerer kingdom destroy the holy kingdom, also about how she takes out her anger on neia, which just sets oil to the fire
Can anyone tell me why didnt Neia use the visor special ability when she faced jalbadaoth after he killed * Ainz? He supposingly was one hit away from dying and she still didnt use it.

Read the light novel, hes probably the smartest being in that whole continent, probably in the Whole New World, rivalled only by Albedo, P.A. the only one who outsmarts him is their idealized version of Ainz
kinto kinto I have read the light novel and I know they keep saying he’s the smartest but I don’t feel it’s displayed very well like all of his supposedly brilliant schemes Meet no opposition not because they’re very well planned but because they can curbstomp literally everyone else in a straight fight

Hell, the kingdom, holy kingdom, azalerissia mountains, great forest of tob and the empire survived for centuries and it only took Demiurge and Ainz maybe a couple months to take them in their spheres of control. there are alot happening in the background thats too long to be explained and shown in the LN
The second i heard this character i was sure her ending will be a treat character who thing they are the absolute good and those who yries to oppose them is absolute evil they don't get a happy ending never, You compare her character with shonen protagonist mentality but that just wrong characters like naruto, natsu, deku or asta has there world view and ideals but they dont force in on others, Naruto's never is antagonistic anybody and he listens thats the thing he listens to others characters world view there goals and idealogy when he fought pain or Obito his ideals were against them and pain won that fight because naruto had to answer and he accepted he doesn't know how to bring peace and against obito he won because obito didnt had an answer to Naruto's questions, same thing at the end with sasuke he accepted his way of doing but not what he wants to do by making himself the worlds enemy #1, same thing with Natsu but fairy tails villains are just hilarious and asta too but he only encounters the main enemy at the end the other characters have their ideological battle and Asta come and take the win, both asta and Naruto made friends with the demons thats acceptance Asta's was a bit easier and Naruto's was a bit flashier and taken too long, She actually threw a fit in the middle of the battle. she is the delores umbridge of overlord Ainz like Voldemort is an over the top villain we could never see in reality while Remedios is the kinda idiot bigot we can imagine meeting and vicerally hate because of it
To be fair, she also kinda said a few times that Ainz was responsible for the attack, which is true. She never trusted Ainz, but she shouldn't 😂 she was right but lacked the charisma or brain to convince or verbalize what her instincts were telling her, she was not necessarily wrong in all her ideas, but Nazaric WAS behind it all, dont get me wrong she was incompetent but people forget that the situation was manipulated by demiurge THATS why nothing she came up with worked.
Ok there is maybe one character archetype that I dispise more than this one but saying Demiurge is even the least bit sympathetic is going too far. Honestly I'd sooner throw Demiurge at a bunch of super horny orcs who he can't over power than say he's deserves pity or relaxation or even the tiniest happiness.
@Nura Xblade "Honestly I'd sooner throw Demiurge at a bunch of super horny orcs who he can't over power than say he's deserves pity or relaxation or even the tiniest happiness." he might like that, and would count the experience as "research" .
Well she isn't the worst person in Overlord by a long shot but all the evil actions ainz and his people commit are in the end leading to world peace with surprisingly good living standards for most people and are rationaly the best solution for whatever their goals happen to be at the time. Retardios on the other hand has good intentions but is and idiot, irational and causes unnecessary death because she thinks she needs to protect all humans at all cost even if that in the end leads to more casualties than would have been necessary.

Well, she was in deed right by the wrong rationalization, about Jaldabaoth and Ainz working together, and Ainz is over all evil, by actions and what he lets his minions do
Yes.The stupid are worse than the evil, since you can reason with the evil to mutual benefit (at least the "eternal servitude with no strings attached" contract), and even if not, at least the evil will benefit at your expense(thus you can comfort yourself as a martyr that serves a greater cause). Whereas you can only either distance yourself from the stupid as much as you can or suffer endlessly for no benefit to neither you, nor the stupid.
@@enricomartinelli9159Please enlighten me! Begin with why the stupid are better than the evil. Focus on the nobility of motives, and claim that they trump outcomes.

@@enricomartinelli9159 Exactly. The greater cause of "at least someone will benefit". Whereas the stupid nice person will screw you over by his sheer incompetence (or just provide you with endless requests to save him from his self inflicted troubles), and be very surprised when the endeavor he was involved in goes up in smoke (or the troubles don't stop appearing). The evil can at least understand "cause and effect", "results", and "efficiency", while the stupid can only brag about his "good intentions", and making excuses ("it was his (their) fault!") without bothering with a plan that will work, or its' proper execution.
@@user-tb7ml8kz7h Oh, well. If you are okay with dying or suffering pointlessly just so that an evil person will fatten himself at your expense, I guess there is nothing to discuss. Me, I think the nobility of the motives is just as important as the outcome, but the most important things are the actions.
I read Vol 12 & 13, and she is extremely problematic. First, she accused her own little sister of being bad at her job: “making plans that work”. She also does this to her lieutenants when they fail to do her job: thinking and giving orders. Second, she has extremely unrealistic expectations of others to compensate for her own shortcomings. She healed a soldier in the midst of battle, yes, but she expected that soldier to be able to walk to the back of the battle formations to see the priests when he was given the bare minimum treatment and no painkillers. She also expected her subordinates to know what to do when she is completely dumbfounded, and is angry when they’re as confused and shocked as she is. She also berated a noble for not sacrificing his life for the cause, it never occurs to her what will happen if all of the Paladin Order and Nine Colors perish in battle. The Holy Kingdom would be left completely defenseless and dependent on foreign military aid, giving the Sorcerer Kingdom considerable advantages over Roble. Third, she freezes up when faced with shocking situations, and doesn’t even give orders for others to take command. It’s understandable, but she doesn’t really understand when to act and how to act in moments of crisis. It doesn’t even occur to her to check up on her sister, a powerful magic caster who can revive the dead, while her best friend is being beaten to pulp. Her short-sightedness got both of them killed. Fourth, Remedios herself admits that she is unfit for command, but it never occurred to her to give the position to someone else. She had years to discuss her shortcomings with Calca, her best friend, and either improve them or find someone else to be the Captain. In the midst of war, she uses moral justifications and cronyism to support her position of command that she herself knows she is unfit for.
Too be honest we don't think putting Asta in the same place as Remidios is fair he is a bit simple but he tries to see the good in people and even wanted to hear out the elves to understand their point of view and wanted to settle things peacefully so in our opinion he is much better than the retarded paladin
Not really. Hateable, very - but this was most likely the intent. Like this video shows there is depth to Remedios' character. Once you stop and think about everything she's going through she becomes that much more relatable. Most of her decisions are incredibly racist but that could've come from experience. Demihumans at large, especially around the locale, are not known for kindness or mercy. Fundamentally good, but realistically flawed given her upbringing and situation. I still despise her, but I understand why she is what she is.

Either Retardious or Bimbodious
So ... A leftist or extremist
But to bad she died

But for other means f*ck you

Whaat, I don't see Phillip here

I'm wonder if thats why demiurge made sure to get rid of her i thought she would be the sister to spear if they wanted a civil war.
It would be great if she had a mini arc, exiled in the theocracy and grew as a character. Only Maruyama knows the future of overlord... maybe?
Remedios is what happens when you make the mistake of thinking that a hammer can be a leader.
Imagine the shit that Gustav has to deal with on a daily basis.

Remedios is like every 'bad' Paladin Roleplayer all at once.
Omg ikr in WoW I'd see such similar RP paladins.
And yet I prefer her to Ainz.
I generally play a paladin similar to space marines. Everything that isn't me or my god must be purged. Thats why I prefer my chrono wizard armed with a guaranteed geas.

😐 huh?
🤔 something's wrong...
she really is like a shonnen protag, but without any good side characters that can make her listen to point her in the right direction
That's what I've been thinking about her
Well.
Example: we need an artifact to complete the mission the museum refuses to sell or give it to us so we have them so you’re going to have the rouge steel it the paladin won’t allow that to happen because stealing is wrong even though it would save the world
if that's so I wonder if the author snuck this one in since he's also a DnD player
I think the reason demi urge is more popular/sympathetic is because he's so super villain like that we can like-
Detach our real world feelings for him
But remedios is based on a real person her actions and behaviors are more in tune to reality than demi urge, and we probably met someone kinda like her so hating her is more relatable
Yep it's basically the umbitch affect
Well, that and Demiurge's villainy is off-screen while his redeeming traits, such as treating the other Guardians and his subordinates kindly (such as when he rescued Entoma) are all highly visible.
The reverse is true for Remedios. All her nastiness is on-screen, while her so-called redeeming virtues are all implied, at best.
I guess I'm not the only one that would gladly and without hesitation choose to work for Ainz rather than Retardos...

Community is quite harsh while judging her and i can see why, but she really had been through a lot.
it could be that too, but i think what makes people really hate or at the very least feel uncomfortable with her is the fact that
1st: she never learns and also never feels grateful,Like when ainz thought more logically than all of the survival army and she never thanked him and didn't reflect on events to know if her ideals really were right, like in the case of the boy at the Demi-human camp.Always putting her dogma above common sense and blaming the whole world for her mistakes except herself.
Why was Mormonga able to repel Jaldabaoth? because he's human and humans are the embodiment of justice.

This comment FTW. Exactly this.
(Trolls)

Neia began a religion based on his majesty! ...

5:27 - 7:26 Huh, put that way, I didn't realize there was an "orange man bad" character in overlord.

@J P
she would happily murder a demi-human child who is very friendly with humans.
I really need captions for when I cant watch these videos without sound I love watching them so much
Ah yes, Expensive Medicine, the Phillip with breasts of the Holy Kingdom.
"the Phillip with breasts" im dead 😭
Well the main reason i dont like Remedios is because she was mean to Neia. At the end of the day she was right. Ainz and yaldabaoth were working together. Her real flaws are prejudice and rudeness. She simply was not fit to lead and she was placed in her rank mainly in order to be able to be close to her sister and queen who were giving her directions.
I never saw Umbridge as worse than Voldemort. She's frustrating, and evil, but she's not going around straight up murdering people.
While being treated unbelievably unfairly can be difficult to deal with, being dead is a bit more difficult to recover from.

Someone like Philip is a fantastic character to have in a series
is Remedios the one who keept being angry at the archer for allying with ainz?
yes
I want the Holy Kingdom Arc comes out in anime just because i wanto to present Remedios in the comments
10/10 would be a perfect club for demiurgos
so... she's basically your average feminist/radical leftist/sjw?
I think there will be another player summoned to New-World to defeat Ainz
@@anastasiastellar2658 It will need to be multiple players of a skill level superior to Ainz with a guild base even more powerful than Nazarick and more NPCs.
@@dreadrath
That's what I'm thinking.
I think players with LV around Ainz with skills that can counter anything the floor guardian can throw at them is enough... the biggest problem would be strategy (there are 2 big-brain in Nazarick)
@@anastasiastellar2658 3 big brains technically since Pandora's Actor, while a goofball, does rival Demi and Albedo, plus they also have Renner now. Of course another guild base could have NPCs of equal intelligence. Though NPC intelligence weirdly enough doesn't seem to impact their PVP ability that much since AInz is confident he could defeat any guardian except Shaltear with relative ease.

Is it true Ainz died by her hands or sumth? I don't get it
Basically an anime protagonist without plot armour.
Remedios is the perfect name, for her. Since she’s remedial…
I kinda bit like her. She just reminds of Mordred a little bit
She got the 'Karen' haircut, so...
I'm going to play an overlord d&d sometime in the future and I only watched the anime so now I know who to kill off in the overlord world
Arche :D

Is there's any online game that has Overlord vibe?
Or at least has same rules like Yrgdasil
Remedios = Karen
I didn't get it, but is ge undead or not?
We hate her because how dare she insult the great lord Ainz Ooal Gown
(By the way love uour videos)
Ainz deserves to be insulted.
Remedios did nothing wrong.
@@enricomartinelli9159 he saved her life and she didnt even thank him
@@banner2677 He only saved her life because it was useful to his plans.
@@enricomartinelli9159 and ? Im not saying he is a good guy
@@enricomartinelli9159 Still saved the person who hated him. I don’t see anyone doing that.
Too be honest we don't think putting Asta in the same place as Remidios is fair he is a bit simple but he tries to see the good in people and even wanted to hear out the elves to understand their point of view and wanted to settle things peacefully so in our opinion he is much better than the retarded paladin
Yeah but even asta will never listen to someone destroyed a country because someone stole his vegetables
Elves have sad backstory unlike aniz
this is visual novel material right? not in the manga right?
No, she's in volume 12+13
Worst character in Overlord.
Philip is the worst
When you call her brash and all of that and pull up a picture of Naruto Uzumaki as a reference I gotta laugh a bit ! XD
She's now died in volume 14.
Great video like always bro! 😃 👍
