  • Disappointed. That’s the only word I can use to describe my experience with the third Hermès Kelly Belt I bough. For years, Hermès has been a brand synonymous with perfection, so imagine my surprise when my €1,000 belt arrived with noticeable packaging and quality flaws.

    Omg lumi so sorry to hear. I have bought a lot of Hermes items and never had these issues. But like you said, I’m fortunate to live next to an Hermes boutique so I get to see what I am buying

    I purchased a kelly belt online. There is one part of my belt where stitches are not done properly..
    So it's not only you who encountered an hermes quality issue.
    In my case, they didn't apologise and just sent to France to get it repaired. They didn't even guarantee that it's free of charge to get it repaired. Really awful experience.

    Hi Marie, I'm so sorry you had this experience so early in the journey with Hermes. I personally own a few items myself and am an avid Hermes lover. And although I totally agree with you that at this price point and reputation, the products should be in pristine condition, I also believe we're all human. In the end, it comes down to how customer service handles it, which, as it seems, they will screw up big time, in your case. However, your quality issue is not a singular case. You had a product shipped out to you, damaged by what seems inproper storing, I purchased a pair of Chypre sandals totally crooked and missshapen last summer. Each sandal differed in width, despite being the same size. If I wouldn't have purchased them directly at Hermes, I could have bet they were counterfeit. Aditionally, the leather was scrached. As you can imagine I was shocked and sad after scoring these rare sandals online, the same way you did with the belt. The customer service though went above and beyond to help, they were super helpful and responsive, both via mail and phone. In the end, I recieved a new beautiful pair of my perfect Chypre sandals. It did take a while as they were sent back to quality control and replaced after inspecting them. So maybe this is what you can fight for, to have it checked by quality control (including your camera footage) and have them decide instead of the customer service associate. I know this is an awful experience and will most likely have you never buy sth again, as it is the cherry on top after your in store experience. However, I can assure you, this is not the brands value of their customers, they are truely one of the best in customer service, customer experience and product quality and you got really unlucky.       Thank you for your comment - no need to apologize for a long one, I‘m happy to read through your experience! For the exchange of the belt I was in contact with two Hermès employees: one via E-Mail and later on one on the phone. Both were very kind and polite and at least gave me a good feeling, but the outcome - so far - unfortunately was absolutely not what I would have expected - at all 🙈. There will probably be 1-2 more videos inbetween and then the next part of my Hermès experience probably uploaded on February 8th. Dankeschön 🥰

    It happened to me with a bracelet. They didn’t want to replace it so I had to wait weeks to get it repaired. The bracelet literally fell apart the second time I wore it. Honestly, Hermès is no exemption, we come across items that are not the best quality.

    If these luxury brands cared about quality, they would have an outlet selling pieces (irregulars) that didn't make the cut. But they don't (I have a LV key cles, that clearly is not up to par. It is made with 2 different pieces of canvas and the color discrepancy is obvious). I believe these brands think the consumer is stupid because they are so desperate to own something from the brand, they're willing to buy an irregular piece and pay full price.

      The crazy thing about it: even the brands that do have outlets - they seperatly produce most of the items for the outlets to begin with, it’s hardly any „boutique pieces“ with irregularities to be found there 🙈

    I was considering to buy Hermes belt and tried on a Kelly belt in their Rome boutique, but didn’t like the leather quality, felt plasticy which is weird for such expensive item made of leather... glad I didn’t buy it online and seen in person before considering despite it being so popular on social media

    I have two Kelly belts and am not particularly impressed with the quality. The rosegold hardware discolored immediately and the leather strap on the other one has deformations similar to yours. I didn't make a complaint because I knew what the reaction would be anyway.

    A cliffhanger!!!😮. I can’t wait to find out the end of this story!!! I don’t care what company it is, they all are capable of having quality issues!!! Never be afraid to speak out!!! These companies are held on a pedestal, and people act like the company is doing them a favor when they should be happy that we choose to spend money there and it’s US who does THEM the favor!!!

    you could have send it for a refund, it was an easier process. I understand you wanted to exchange it, therefore it was a bit confusing

      With a refund, I‘m unfortunately not sure, when I would have been able to score another black and palladium belt on the website. And I wouldn’t want to pay the new increased price, because of „their fault“. But I bet a return would have been easier than an exchange 🧡

    The belt is not broken. It is an adjustable belt. You just need to know how to use it.

      I know that it is adjustable, it is my third Kelly belt. But it arrived deformed and therfor it has a permanent bend on that part of the leather. The adjustable leather parts don’t line up nicely with each other, where the belt has been misshapen for too long - even after storing it properly for weeks. Can’t you see the issue on the video material or pics?

      @ That bend is normal for the Kelly belt. I have a lot of Kelly belts. That is just the way the belt is.

      @@betsyavallone4314my other 2 Kelly belts don’t have it and aline perfectly 🤔 minute 5:18 for example shows the issue quite well. It even sticks up from the body at that part, when wearing it

      @@iuli3se honestly: I would be shocked, if THIS was normal and happening regularly on that Hermès belt. Not even the Amazon dupes that I’ve seen, have such a bent 😅🙈
