Dude love your channel, thx so much for filling the void! I have the rebel v4, tried the mach 6 and novablast 4, i was very happy with the novablast, protective yet springy with the trampoline, the mach 6 fely skinnier and softer, but i am 210 lbs so keep that in mind, you are my current go to youtuber keep up the the great work my man!!
I’m loving your channel man, I ran cross country in high school and the fact that you’re putting these miles on these shoes is truly inspirational in my journey to start back running
Durability has always been a Hoka issue - i have retired Hokas at 150 KM - i am heavy on shoes - actually the left foot - but my Super Blast are strong still over 300 KM - so then Hoka becomes a 300 dollar investment for the same miles! I think runners are starting to question value for money - hence the emergence of the used shoe market. Appreciate the fact that you are a reviewer who recognises the importance of value for money. My record for a shoe is 800 KM and still going strong - Asics Kayano 26 - what amazing value!
Wow that's great mileage on the Asics! My record is 700 miles on an old adidas Ultraboost - I generally have great luck with adidas shoes. Boston 12 is almost at 300 and going strong
@SergiuSalcau00 I am heavy on shoes you must be an elf ha ha that's impressive. I loved the clifton 1 it got me a Boston Qualifier with a broken metatarsal
Running the COROS fitness test would help the watch calibrate your fitness and race paces better. I also think the stroller runs confuse the algorithm as you'll have a higher HR and slower pace than your true running fitness.
Yeah I think you're right. I wish coros and strava had a stroller running exercise type. Also on principle I've run 1000+ miles with this thing with some quality outdoor workouts so it should be a little bit better - for example it currently says I can run an 18:40 5k (6 minute pace) when I ran my last set of two mile reps at a 5:40 something pace in the middle of a 14 mile run yesterday lol I don't mind since I don't rely on the data but I know a lot of people can get really in their heads with it, which is a huge negative (I used to obsess over it)
Great video and great day of running! I enjoyed the review and the day-in-the-life stuff, and it sounds like a really fun and versatile shoe. So 22 miles is 11% of your estimated life of the shoe, meaning that you burned through over $15 of Hoka in a day, which is impressive and also a bit daunting!
Congrats on your MBA! It was really nice getting to see other aspects of your training/life such as managing grocery expenses and your overall diet. I also didn't realize you're vegan, but glad it works for you as a runner! It would be great to see some vegan recipe ideas in the future! Also, Blue shirt > Red shirt
Hey man just commenting again expressing how much I absolutely love your channel!!! A few things, don't listen to these keypad warrior's about length of videos. I love that they are 60 minutes long!! I'll even watch them if there 120 minutes long! Best TH-camr by far. And second don't let these people get to you about wearing expensive shoes or eating expensive gels. It's literally your job!! So keep it up keep the head held high and keep grinding and smash that marathon!! 🤙🤌🫶
Congrats on officially passing the MBA! I have issues with the coros as well sometimes seem like a small company, they are pretty responsive though if you reach out to them. Would love a meal prep video
Yowana, awesome video! Really interested in picking up the Mach 6 as a daily trainer to replace my Saucony Triumph RFG. But I am also shopping around and thinking about trying the On Cloud Eclipse. Mach 6 vs On Cloud Eclipse?
I have a pair of cloudeclipse on the way for testing soon! But I can tell you now the cloudeclipse is heavier and designed more for comfort rather than speed. Mach 6 is designed more for faster running and is super bouncy. So if you like the bounce of the triumph but want something faster, go for the Mach 6. And if you like the protective cushioned feeling of the triumph and want something better for relaxed miles, the cloudeclipse will likely be better
I agree that the midsole of the Mach 6 is fantastic. I hit 39 miles today with a 13-mile double run day and, as a midfoot striker, the exposed heel foam is still pristine. I have very little wear in the really high wear areas. I'm very curious how many miles I can get as a midfoot striker with a light touch. Congratulations on finishing all of your classes. That's such a big accomplishment. Also, Trader Joe's corn tortillas are really good as someone who grew up eating authentic Mexican food. 🙂
@@supwellI was doing 10-mile days but you've got me up to 12-14. I can't really run on my work days but the weather is warming up so I should be able to start biking to work soon.
Really tempted to try the Mach 6. Just wonder if the wide version provides similar fit like the Mach 5 regular. I loved the Mach 5, was very versatile. The wear on the outsole was ok. Visible, but didn't affect anything. I strike mid to forefoot, so on most shoes the back is mint :) I retired the Mach 5 after 400k, it lost a lot of the bounce and protection. Not great, but not terrible. Right now i'm mostly using the Nova 4 and the more I run in them, the more I like them. Speed 3 is pretty good too, but my knee is wrecked every time i use them. So was thinking to replace them with the Mach 6 as the speedier option.
I think you'll like the Mach 6 if you like the ride of the speed 3 and novablast. It has some of the good parts of both - bouncy like the speed but more protective like the novablast. Downside is stability and width isn't the best but if you are using it for faster running it shouldn't be a problem
I’ve tried it on in my normal size, up a half and, normal but up a width. I think up a width is going to work for the majority of people, it felt the most comfortable that way. That said, it was just a bit too roomy in the forefoot for my low volume feet, though the platform felt a bit better and percerptible length felt similar to going up a half size
Thank you! So yesterday I didn't have any issues with it and didn't notice instability, I think because I didn't run in anything else that day. But on the days where I did comparison tests with the rebel and novablast, I noticed a big difference in stability between those shoes and the Mach. So if you are used to running in wider/more stable shoes you'll likely notice this is a little squishier and a touch more wobbly. But unless you have a serious overpronation you should be okay
The Hoka Mach 5 has been on sale everywhere... do you still recommend Mach 6 at full MSRP over 5? Also at 31:11, consider getting a 5 row bookshelf for your shoes (and books) in order to take advantage of the vertical space ;)
Great suggestion - I have some other wall space in the office where I could put it that wouldn't block the window. And I still love the Mach 5. At $100 it's a great deal - Mach 6 is a little bouncier and will prob have better durability from the rubber but Mach 5 is an awesome versatile shoe as well
Hi! Thanks for the review. Wondering if you would recommend these for marathon long run training? I know people typically say the Clifton is better for that, but I'm pretty light, midfoot strike, and leaning towards just going with this for all of my long runs because it's lighter - if you've taken it out for 20-30km runs, would love to hear your thoughts! I've put 800+km on my Cliftons as the daily/long run shoe and could go back to them but kind of want to try these!
Yeah on the second run it felt a bit less bouncy, but still very cushioned. I'm skeptical that the "magic" in the midsole will last past 200 miles, but because of the stack height I think it will keep the protective properties. Happy to report no bottoming out at all here
Another great review like always. I’m currently in love with my NB SC V2 trainers though. Will likely pass on these. Especially because they don’t make the white colorway in wide.
If you want one shoe to do it all it would be a great shoe for that. It's comfortable enough for everyday and fast enough for race day - if doing a full marathon I would consider investing in a dedicated racing shoe but for anything up to half marathon this will be great
They're both awesome shoes - rebel is a little lighter with more groundfeel and the hoka is bouncier and more cushioned. They'd be great in a rotation if you do get both
Hoka has gone from the leader of the pack to the middle of the pack for me. I'm disappointed in the Clifton, Speedgoat, and Stinson. All are too stiff, too narrow and lack the plush, spongy cushion that made them famous. I've moved on to Topo brand for hiking and New Balance for everything else. The Topo Ultraverse and Mountain Racer are my hiking shoes. The New Balance 1080 is my daily trainer, and the New Balance Fresh Foam More Version 4 (and now 5) are my recovery run shoes. To be fair, New Balance has a tight toe box as well, but I sized up a half size and it helped. Some might want to size up a whole size. Haven't tried this shoe, but I might look at it. Great reviews: I appreciate your effort!
Been wanting something to replace my Mach 5 as a daily trainer including treadmill, been very hard to find something suitable in 2e (I already have the elite v4), the Mach 6 was sold out, I have been waiting for the sc trainer v3 to come out and just pay the extra but Hoka just released a new colorway so now have stock so I’m going to give it a try
Probably because the Mach is more of a faster daily trainer so they anticipate people will be more likely to be midfoot-forefoot striking. So the durability doesn't really cater for heel strikers.
Nothing like the Mach 5. The 6 (Wide) has a firmer ride and higher stack. My tendon plate injury returned after two weeks running on them. Too bad. Now I have to search for a alternative
@@supwelloh interesting… this might be why when I tried on half size up in the black it felt too big (they didn’t have my size), but in this white color way I def needed to go up a half size
Depends what purpose - Mach 6 if you want a fun daily. Boston 12 if you want a durable shoe for long runs and speed workouts. Vomero if you want a durable shoe for everyday runs (will likely get a ton more miles out of these than the Mach 6). I'll be testing the triumph 22 when it comes out but that's the most cushioned and heaviest out of the ones you mentioned - so will likely be best for relaxed running and not as good as Mach 6/Boston 12 for speed
i think most runners will prefer the mach 6 - it is bouncier and more cushioned. rebel v4 is awesome if you want some groundfeel and a super lightweight shoe
The Mach line since v4 have had amazing uppers and lockdown, some of the best on the market, and sounds like V6 is still doing that well. Also, the 5mm drop isn't for everyone. I went through 2 pairs of Mach 4's and loved the shoe, but I would only wear it once or twice a week to reduce the extra calf load that 5mm drop induces. As for the Boston 12....buyer beware...while the outsole and midsole are top notch....that upper is one of the worst on the market. Sounds like maybe....finally...Adidas might be fixing that with the upper changes to the Takumi Sen 10....strongly thinking of getting the Takumi Sen10, even though my V8's still have a few hundred Kms of life left in them. I've struggled to get the Boston 12 to 100km, since anything more than 10km runs results in nasty heel lift, which is only magnified if I am running at pace or doing elevation changes. Which kinda defeats the point of that shoe. Which makes me so sad, since I initially termed the Boston 12 "The poor man's Tempo Next%" I liked it that much...I have 3 pairs of Tempo's LOL
@@supwell novablast 4, 1080 v12 (🙄), SC trainer v1. A couple others kicking around. Deviate Nitro 2 might catch some workouts. I have a want list but I buy too many already lol

From what I read in other reviews it seem the revel v4 foam also degrades pretty quickly. On believeintherun they mentioned that after 100 miles it lost a lot of the initial bounce. I'm also deciding between the two, but leaning towards the bigger stack.
@@Maochan81 ah man, looks like it's novablast again. I've had the 2's and the 3's and they were awesome. Just fancied a different brand. I'm pretty much all ASICS
I have 120 miles on my rebel v4 and they still feel great. I don't think either the rebel or Mach are going to be the most durable beyond 300 miles tho
The Coros is best for value at $220ish, it’s not going to be perfect and pinpoint accurate at that price, ever. Especially when Coros & Garmin have MUCH higher models
Hoka really needs to hire some new designers. They make the ugliest shoes. Even Brooks is somehow making better-looking shoes--and that's saying something.

It would be even better value if they priced at $150 and stripped out all the bad tech 😂
Corn Tortillas > Flour Tortillas lol
😂😂😂
Hmm, Run a 10K or watch this video, by boy 😂
Unnecessarily long video, the actual review part was useful as always though.

Your videos are great, but 57 minutes? Way too long.

Everyone else is making TH-cam videos, Yowana making movies.
It's not just a shoe review, basically a vlog lol. And I'm not complaining, think it's refreshing. I get the exact same Tzatziki dip btw. Good stuff 👍
It’s not just a shoe review. It’s about the sport and process of training and running.
Complaining about something provided to you for free? Just skip forward to the segment you're looking for lol
Hoka really needs to hire some new designers. They make the ugliest shoes. Even Brooks is somehow making better-looking shoes--and that's saying something.
