Carly is the daughter of Richard Simon, cofounder of the Simon & Schuster publishing house. So she was raised in an affluent and well connected family. She would know many famous and "vain" people with private jets. 🤣 But her talent carried her to her own success and fame as one of the top singer-song writers of the 70's and beyond.
Warren Beatty's sister is Shirley MacLaine and apparently their mother was from Nova Scotia Canada so that could explain the Nova Scotia connection. Perhaps Warren and Shirley still have relatives living in Nova Scotia, cousins etc.
She confirmed only the second verse was about Warren in 2015, stating the first and third verses were about two other men. The song is about three separate men.

It's the place where potato chips (Saratoga Chips), carbonated spring water (Saratoga Spring Water in the beautiful cobalt glass bottles), and the club sandwich (double decker turkey sandwich) were invented.

As far as who she is singing about in "You're so Vain" it is several men she has never said exactly who but had dropped hints that the song has references to Mic Jagger, James Taylor, and movie actor Warren Battey. Carly is a genius and knows that if she flat out told who she is singing about it would take away some of the mystique after all everyone loves a good mystery..
She’s amazing. I met her very briefly in Martha’s Vineyard back in 93ish. It was a quiet afternoon at small grocery store. In line could tell she was trying to be incognito so I only said I love her music and she replied thank you so much. Memories.
An iconic song-love Carly. For years it was believed she wrote this for Mick Jagger, who she had dated but nope, he sings back-up on this. Or James Taylor, who she was married to, but nope. Or Cat Stevens, who she also dated, but she said nope (See Anticipation which Cat did inspire). She has acknowledged one verse written for Warren Beatty, another love interest of hers but I don't think she has revealed the others. A great guessing game for decades now💞

Carly Simone 😂lol😂
Roundabout by YES ✨️🎶✨️
You are going through so much growth and kudos for you for doing it in the public eye. You never know who you're gonna help.
Carly has a slew of hits in the early seventies you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing a new Carly Simon hit: "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be", "Anticipation", "Jesse", "You Belong to Me", "Legend in Your Own Time", and the list goes on and on..
I love how you can look at yourself and be open about it.
You should check the song she does called "Killing Me Softly".
Fantastic song, I'm sure I had the single bought way back in 1972! 😊😊
Ahhhh. Carl's tribute to Warren Beatty
She’s amazing. I met her very briefly in Martha’s Vineyard back in 93ish. It was a quiet afternoon at small grocery store. In line could tell she was trying to be incognito so I only said I love her music and she replied thank you so much. Memories.
Wow! You are one lucky guy! She has blown me away since the first time I heard her back in 1971.
@@davidfrania8990 If you can imagine the image. She was wearing those big sunglasses. The kind lots of woman wore as far back as the early 70s.
A great guessing game for decades now💞
Carly’s my gal and I related to this soulful song a long time ago. She’s one of the greats. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I saw Carly Simon sing this live at a James Taylor concert in the 70s.
"And you gave away the things you loved... and one of them was me." man..... that lyric busts my soul wide open.
Her album Tapestry is probably one of the best albums ever, period.
Tapestry was Carole King
Thank you so much! Hey yo, I appreciate your content for acknowledging the greatness of how the past was and still is to this day. Peace and blessings to you 🔥🔥🔥🫡🫡🫡
Love your honesty on your reactions. We have all made mistakes. But the important thing is that we grow and become better versions of ourselves.
