  • Dancing the Saraswati Pallavi choreographed by my Guru Shri Bichitrananda Swain is a beautiful and challenging journey that fills my heart with joy and reverence.
    what Pallavi means?
In Odissi dance, pallavi is an abstract or pure dance presentation that literally means "blossoming". It's the centerpiece of an Odissi dance recital and is usually named after the Raaga in which the music is composed. Pallavi is the melodic part of traditional compositions, shorn of all sahitya. It's an abstract composition based on rhythmic structures and creative dance, which shows acute body deflections in tribhanga and swaying.
Pallavi is distinct in its exceedingly intricate and interwoven rhythmic patterns of singular beauty, laying emphasis on pure dance. The movements are very graceful and lyrical.
This Saraswati Pallavi is taken from the repertoire, "Saraswati Untold, a researched work from the Shastras about the descent of the river Saraswati on the earth and being worshipped as the Devi of knowledge, researched, conceptualized and produced by historian Meenakshi Sharan.
Forgive me for my poor steppings, those stones weren't easy on me.
