      You'd be interested to know that it helped me get it hooked back up right after having it disconnected for a while. Nothing like teaching an old dog old tricks.

    Great job wiring up the winch George. Your shop not only looks great it has some great additional tools to hand.
    Cheers, Jeff.

    Good to the point video. I have my solenoid on order to put on my 2000 WARN winch that I got for free. I got a Harbor Freight remote with a plug on the end but will do the wiring set up like yours. I saw one video if you use a large band clamp you can attach the solenoid to the winch to have it all together. I plan on using it to help run my 12 boat up in my truck bed when I got fishing. I do have a rack for the truck but going to make my own self loading setup with it later this year. Need to do some welding and mods to make it work but pretty much have what I need on that project.

      Glad to be of help. This set up is still working well for me after several years using it. I am getting ready to make it mountable on a beam in front of my little shop to pull and replace lawn tractor motors, in particular a very heavy Kohler. Thanks for stopping by.

    she is very welcome for the knife, we don't eat bagels but I like it for slicing tomatoes. I use my little winch to drag stuff up on my trailer, I don't know if you saw any of my Wisconsin engine videos but I used the winch to drag all of them up on my trailer, that big 4 cylinder is very heavy, and it sure saved me a lot of work, in fact, with out it I couldn't have done that. I have a big piece of inner tube covering my winch because it's outside all the time.

    George I'm always thinking ahead of how i can still do things as my health fails me. For example my engine run test stand; how to install & remove the motor by myself safely. At HF i picked up a Hyd. adjustabe cart rated @ 1000lb. I'm using it now to build the front bus beam. I got some small channel steel to weld on the top farme of the run test stand and now need some steel to build a removable ramp to roll the cart up on the run test stand. I then was thinking about a small HF winch with a remote where it will pull the cart and motor up the ramp and lower it. Sounds a bit over the top , but my balance is not very good and just seems like it would be a safe method for me. George i have around 5 or 6 to vw motors to build & run test at this time. Plus I been asked rebuild some VW motors for a few friends after I finished my motors. ( Cool retirement projects )

      @TheShadeTreeFixitMan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will be just as busy in retirement as you were while working and wonder how you ever got anything done before. I too keep trying to plan ahead for my failing health as I get older. Thanks for hanging in there with me.

    I'm planning on doing something very similar with my lift. At 72 the big bikes are getting too heavy for me to push up onto the lift.and some of them get a little squirrely trying to motor them up.

      @TheShadeTreeFixitMan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I'm 74 and haven't actually put a motorcycle on my lift yet, using it mostly for the Goofy Cart, a Honda 4 wheeler and also for riding mower repairs. Thanks for stopping by

    With having that wired right to the battery will it still pull power when not in use and make the battery go dead after some time ?

    I hooked up the wire is exactly the way you have them hooked up on my and it won't turn the motor on the winch what is the problem but the winch works if I hook it direct to the battery

    I have the same set up however it only works in one direction, if I switch the yellow and white wires then it works in the opposite direction, is it likely a fault with the solenoid or the receiver?

    • @TheShadeTreeFixitMan
      @TheShadeTreeFixitMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like the receiver is messed up. I had to buy a new remote, but that was because I had left it out in the rain and it got ruined. Hope you get it figured out. Thanks for stopping by.

      The winch came with the remote originally, but got ruined sitting outdoors in the rain. I bought the 2 pieces off of eBay. I ruined the first remote unit trying to "fix" the original, so ended up buying another and getting the solenoid to control things. It works! Thanks Dan
