It is the Tamron-F AF TELE-CONVERTER 2X Mx-AF BBAR MC7. I have done lots of testing with it on a few different lenses. There is NO increase in image quality. When you compare a picture without the teleconverter at 200% digital zoom it is the same as a picture with the teleconverter at 100% zoom. And you lose some contrast and saturation because there is more glass. As much as I want to see a difference, I have not seen any. I think a 1.4X teleconverter might have a net benefit.

For which camera and lens and adapter? I can confirm what I have if you want. There is eye af that starts the af when you put your eye to the viewfinder or eye af that focuses on eyes.
I can’t stand the screw-drive noise. I have the Sony 70200G2 which is silent (SSM) and works great with the Sony A9 and w/ the LAEA3 adapter. I get 12-15fps. If you have a A7IV and up body, A9 series and A1, the LAEA3 & LAEA5 adapters work the best. A-mount lenses feels native if not better on an E-Mount.

I simply hate the feel of the mirrorless cameras and my A99ii does everything I need it to.
I still have the original A99. Wished Sony kept that body, as it holds three batteries with the grip. The E-mount bodies feel okay with smaller lenses. @@PolioVitruvius agreed! I love the feel of the a7, as it feels like a film body, but the a77 is much more ergonomic. I started with an a100, had an a580, and the a77ii, and it feels much more natural in use.
I have a question here, I’m using the A7R2 with LA-EA4 if I’m only using SSM or SAM lens would it be good that I can just change it to LA-EA3? Does the LA-EA3 perform better that the LA-EA4? Thanks🎉
SSM lenses work better with LA-EA3 as it uses the camera focus motors. Most of the SAM lenses I know are screw drive hence would only autofocus on the LA-EA4 adapter albeit its slower than LA-EA3 due to its older autofocus tech from the A65 or A55 am not sure and the translucent mirror eats a tiny bit of light as well.
@@Alaminjos Actually all Sony SAM lens have a focus motor in them that's what the SAM mean (Smooth Autofocus Motor) therefore they will work with LA-EA3, LA-EA4 and LA-EA5!
Thanks for your correction @@351linzdoctor
How do you program and use the AF/MF/AEL lever?
Trying to figure out if a minolta 600 f4 would work on e mount for birds and sports. How's your experience with AF speed adapting a mount to e? I don't think i could even find one to rent. I don't want to dump $2500 if it's a slouch.
Thanks. I also have the Minolta 300mm f2.8 HS. I just tried it on the A99ii and then the A7Rii with LA-EA4. It focuses almost exactly the same speed. Very fast AND accurate. Using center point AF. I also sold my Minolta 70-200 SSM and put in a bit extra to get the Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 Sport with MC-11 adapter. IQ so far looks great but AF is TERRIBLE. Just got the dock and cable and updated both firmware. Hope that makes a difference. At the moment it is unusable which is a huge disappointment. Might have to stick with the two Minoltas.
I’ve been watching videos all day to see if eye af is compatible and I keep getting mixed messages.
For which camera and lens and adapter? I can confirm what I have if you want. There is eye af that starts the af when you put your eye to the viewfinder or eye af that focuses on eyes.
@@PolioVitruvius eye af and or eye tracking. Using a La-ea4 with Sony G 70-200mm f2.8 SSM Lens A Mount on a Sony a7rII
Ha ha, ya the 80-200 HS has some real torque and sounds. More than I anticipated. Now I actually love it. Real analogue feel from the 90s with all the benefits of the A99ii. The 70-200 SSM was very nice too but I got a bad copy and it is way longer. I can’t afford the newer E mount cameras and I wouldn’t buy one if I could. I simply hate the feel of the mirrorless cameras and my A99ii does everything I need it to.
I still have the original A99. Wished Sony kept that body, as it holds three batteries with the grip. The E-mount bodies feel okay with smaller lenses. If you shoot sports and wildlife, A9 bodies & A1 is the best way to go. There’s no substitute for no blackouts and silent shooting. There’s also no substitute for the better buffer, AF and speed. Night and day difference versus the A99II.
@@rlpring78I will have to try a newer E mount some day. I have NO issues with AF speed on the A99ii and the 80-200 HS. I shoot very fast action redeo stuff and it has NO problem keeping up. IBIS OFF is clearer IQ.
@@PolioVitruvius Have you tried shooting with an A9 + 70200 G Master v2? 20fps with no blackouts and crazy AF is an awesome experience. Also, the amount of shots that are keeper is crazy!
@@rlpring78 No, I have no interest in spending another $6,000 to go from 42MP to 24MP and a less comfortable camera when my setup works perfect. My AF is instant and very accurate. The shutter and lens noises do not scare the animals so I am good with what I have. I know people keep thinking they need something better but I am extremely happy with what I have and I do not have any issues with AF speed.
A7RII AF system with adapters w/o mirror is simply not good enough for adapted lenses.
I cringe how you handle your gear.
Well I actually use it a lot. I don’t collect it to sit in a case for 50 years. In 10 years every smart phone will out perform it anyway. I cringe when I see people NOT use their equipment.
Also note that none of my camera gear has a single scuff or scratch, not even the hot shoe or the tripod mounts.
@@PolioVitruviusi respect your opinion but you could atleast be bit more carfull. Its not really canon so…
It just make people that likes to buy used having second thoughts….
SO YOU NEED LA EA5?
