I enjoyed this wonderful walk with you outlining some great areas and the number of Martello Towers which i think you said are sometimes lived in. Is that right?. Super views. Been quite a few changes that i can see around the Folkestone Station area that once was.

Hi Tudor really enjoyed this video and it’s length
which gives a true to scale timeline. Fascinating place and good to see all those old buildings still standing each telling its own story. Love it do this walk - thanks for the heads up, love coastal paths. 🚶‍♀️❤😅😊

Excellent video Tudor. Like the longer guided tour style walking videos. Hythe to Dungeness taking in the Coastal and canal paths (returning back to Hythe on the little railway) is a lovely day out.

Beautiful walk with stunning views and interesting history! Getting in your fitness while seeing these beautiful parts of the country, that’s how to do it! Quite right about the defensive forts called ‘Martello towers’ - there remain 11 here in Canada in the eastern part of the country.

Yeah it did wear me out a bit 🤣 I was interested to find out Martello towers can be found worldwide 👍

15:13 You were close with your assessment of it being for shooting practise, but off with the use of the structure. Those are the butts of an old firing range, which is where the targets would be raised and lowered. The earth mound to the left is to provide a safe backdrop and to catch the bullets. To the right of the butts are the actual firing positions - I believe at 100yds and 200 yds.

Excellent. I’d always wondered and now I know. Next time I’m walking up there with anyone, I’ll amaze them with my (new found) knowledge 🤣 Cheers

The Grand Burstin stands on the sight of the Royal Pavilion Hotel (a small part of it remains behind) which was a real Grand Hotel in the day Folkestone served foot passengers. The harbour was owned by British Rail and it was only in the 60'd they put in the ramp for the ro-ro ferries Hengist and Horsa - BR were paying a fortune to Dover Harbour for docking rights....

Why did this have so many views and some others on this channel had less than 99 ?

Because I tried out the Google Ads thing it was trying to promote to me. It got more views but nothing else. I won't be trying that again. 👎
