I love his Shakespearean accent even in a mad, mad descent into insanity instantly. His impersonation of an angry stallion was just epic. Of course living in space might definitely have a negative effect on his character even when an abrupt change in behavior might have a similar negative effects by experiencing psychological stress combined with paranoia and mental hysteria.

If Jeffrey Hunter continued to appear as Captain Pike in the Original series instead of William Shatner, the show might not be as successful. Because of the way Shatner made things look "wacky" and "lively", TOS was quite interesting.
