Mikio Yahara Sensei is known as one of the greatest karateka to come out of the JKA instructors program.
Yahara sensei won many tournaments but later in life believed that modern day karate was ruining the martial art as he trained and lived by the Budo philosophy.

This was emotional to watch, thank you!!! Especially because after 35 years of practice I had to stop for physical issues and re-adjusting to a life with no Karate was the real tough battle. I may go back to practice little by little as the disease healing is progressing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this inspiring video!
Sorry to hear about the struggle you are going through and I am glad the video helped inspire you just a little bit. Yahara sensei was an inspiring character. This is one of the most concise, detailed and moving portraits of Yahara Shihan. I didn't know he had issues with the Yakuza. You guys do such quality videos, you are one of the few I trust to share and use for educational purposes. It is pure pleasure to watch Yahara Shihan in action. I certainly hope to see a portrait like this of Kagawa Shihan and Tamang Shihan. These are giants of men, the pioneers of one the world's most revered martial art. Shotokan Hai! Ossu. Thank you. @@ГореЛуковое-ю8е Изначально будо, да. Но со временем разные люди(не из Японии) учились каратэ у мастеров с Японии и Окинавы и разнесли по миру. А как мы все знаем, почти все боевые искуства были выставлены на показ америкосами и не только. И потом внедряя их в спорт создавали правила и ограничения, которые по сути положили начало конца для множества боевых искуств. И каратэ очень сильно пострадало от этого.

He is really good, but it is not practical. Nice but too dramatic... it is for the masses. Awesome he started a body guard security firm... that is a great idea and that is the ideal business path for a skilled martial artist.
It's interesting you say that its not practical and in the same sentence say that body guarding is an ideal business for a martial artist, which means putting your art into a practical application which is what he did so it turns out that its very practical. Osu

@@mutsuzawa if you are talking about his kata, then this is training / performance so its going to be exaggerated. In kumite, he was exceptional without exaggeration.

İmportant one is fighting not kata or good kick etc. Yahara didn't fight. All of them are showing, not reel fighting. Fighting is MMA
That's an interesting take on martial arts. So you consider fighting is MMA which means that kickboxing, boxing and karate are not fighting ?

It’s not a real fight, it’s a tournament for a specific style of martial arts. You could make the same comment about , judo, tae kwon do, boxing etc etc. . If you learn to appreciate the style of tournament for what it is it will help to stop trying to compare it to a “real fight”

Yahara is simply a different breed of karateka . The best I’ve ever seen was Kawasoe - the technical genius- Sensei Kase - the innovator - sensei Shirai - the most powerful and Sensei Kato - the best all rounder .
