@smurfyday so ASP left the show after season 6 and the way a year in the life ended was how she intended on it ending with rory getting pregnant however since it would have aired in the 2000s rory would have still been in college amd therefore dropped out basically becoming her mothers daughter
When your daughter grows up watching Gilmore Girls and then as a young adult woman tells you she’s always thought Lorelai and Rory remind her of me and her: That’s Heaven:)
Unpopular opinion: I like this ending more than the ending in A Year In The Life. Why ? It feels more natural, more cohesive, and the writers had an idea of where they wanted to go with a story rather than just having four words and that was it. Don't get me wrong season 7 has it issues and I'm not going to defend every story choice that they made here, but I'll take this ending over whatever Sherman-Palladino had scrambled together and only 18 months. Watch your panel that she did in 2015 with the cast, it's very telling she didn't really have an idea for what A Year in the Life was going to be outside of the ending specifically with the Rory character, all she was given was a deadline and a release date by Netflix. She and her husband only had 18 months to write, cast, film, and release a miniseries, without really taking time on figuring out what that show will be.
the crazy thing is that they didn't KNOW this was going to be the last scene when they were filming it. I was reading Lauren Grahams autobiography and she explains it but the whole finale feels so FINAL but it wasn't filmed that way!!!

Whereas she went noir with s6 and the sequel (most people don't seem to get what it really said), the writers in s7 wanted a happy ending. I highly doubt that, the episode called bon voyage, one of the main principal character is leaving and has a going away party, the grandparents are speaking with lumps in their throat which is clearly the actors trying to pull themselves together on the fact that this is the last episode and Lauren Graham does the same thing in the house as she's talking to Alexis Bledel when she's helping her pack. I think Graham just wrote that in her autobiography because she knew that the series creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino who was not involved with season 7 and was quite bitter about it was going to read the book so she just wrote that in to make her feel better. I mean if you watch A Year In The Life, it seems as though she's trying tirelessly to pretend that season 7 never happened, making the characters, specifically Rory feel a little bit off.
I love how she is wearing the necklace Luke gave her even though she previously said she threw away all her luke related stuff as she can’t face losing it or him and that she still has hope whether it was a old necklace or a new one he gave her ❤

I literally just realized you probably aren't done posting LL scenes but will probably be going on to the revival. To me THIS is the real end. I honestly don't like even one second of their relationship in the revival.
It'd have to be done by someone without an axe to grind, history to rewrite, literally. Don't know why they didn't get the people who did these last few episodes to do the sequel.
If the Palladinos had written season 7, Rory would have ended it pregnant at the age of 22. I personally much preferred this ending for her (before a Year in the Life really ruined her character). She was free and single (a 22 year old being single is not exactly a big deal or something negative - she didn’t need to be paired off) and was pursuing an exciting career in her field.

This is a bittersweet ending but defo this one is more organic than the revival one. I heard the stories from Scott & Lauren on how the found out the show was cancelled out of the blue. Scott said it was really sad they didnt have the chance to say goodbye & to have a closure between the cast & the production hence, when they did the revival they felt good by giving the characters a proper ending. Mmmm, I still prefer this one tho. 🌻🍁🥲

Well, they didn't know if they'd be renewed. They knew they could get canceled, so they wrote the season that way.
