I still have all my old PS2 games and several PS2 consoles (2 slim and 2 original) and I won't lie; PS2 IS STILL KING!
I had to get a converter for HDMI with a smoother installed, but at least it looks the same as it used to on my old 12 inch TV. :')
The games were so much more interesting and, oh, probably the main thing that affects the gaming genre.... NO MICRO TRANSACTIONS.
The games were complete and required nothing extra to play.
I'd rather play a complete game and bust my hump finding all the extras instead of paying $50 on a DLC pack. 🙄
(In case you can't tell, I grew up in the late Atari days and Nintendo's younger years. The "New" PS1 was a "amazing leap in graphics" when I was a teen. The way games are now makes me want to cry.)

The remastered version really makes me feel happy because its how I remembered the original game when I played it. looking back at it now, I was hoping if there was a remaster, it would be this series!! I love the new improvements, the only thing I personally miss is the color saturation in some instances. I know we have alot more color depth now, but for some scenes like when Ovan is greeting you, I miss the eerie colored atmosphere.
Verttech4 omg thank you this is what I was griping bout. Not jus the eery tri edge scenes but the Kuhn scene all the blues An yellows look faded haseo looks like they used some dollar store brand detergent instead of the recommended tide
So you have to learn how to adjust your colors in tv setting

I appreciate the remastered .hack//G.U.... but I honestly think this title deserved a complete remake. A remaster is not enough to make justice for this awesome game.
Sofia Fox hopefully they'll make a new set of games that will continue this story.
They more than likely hadn't the budget for a remake. The dot hack team has said before that they have issues when getting the funding to make more dot hack games when they ask. Although, I do believe that they said that if Last Recode does well enough that we could either see a new game or a remake of the original 4

I finally played this remaster and it's very well done. Nothing is broken or downgraded from original game and overall look and feel of the game is very well Maintained. I would love to see previous hack games as well.

This game is amazing I just finished streaming vol 1 continuing to vol 2 tomorrow. I have never played this game or watched the anime and I gotta say the story is amazing. Can't wait for NINO KUNI 2 will be live streamed as well when it comes out.

When remaster is actually a remaster.
This is not a typical straight remasterd version in hd .. They slightly increase the polygons count in each character,. But they use the existing asset from the original and enhance it to high texture to align the characters new features to the environment around..
Edit: my mistake they did not add polygon counts in each character because the pointed edges in each character model did not change to more rounded natural look.. They only enhance the existing character asset from the original to hd with effective msaa anti aliasing
Easily the best remaster of 2017, hell best rpg of 2017, so good and the game was ahead of it's time IMO ✌
I wish we can get a remake with a better graphic and a more fluid combat. I really really love this series

.hack is amazing! please bandai, continue .hack franchise. There's so much potential! i hope to see what could be included with .hack guilty dragon!
Alkaid was one of my favorite G.U. characters. I still think an IMOQ remake would have been better! But I have always liked those games more than the G.U. series. Personal preference I guess!
the graphic improvement is quite clear, although the only thing i would've liked to see is mouth movement whenever they speak, not just remain like flat image Kingdom Hearts style, still its nice to see much more clear images :D
hmm this would be pretty awesome but not a thing that they could really do. at that point it would just be better to remake the whole series. so i am happy for the remaster and new volume :) lets hope that this helps them make a new series!

I remade the game(s) with ps2 on ps4 all 4 games in one.pkg file. And save importing seems to work to the next game etc

While I see the textured layers added for hd remastered, I can't help but feel like a lot of color was lost. All throughout this video I couldn't help but feel while details were smoothed out it looked like a load that had seen one too many washes. The PS4 versions colors looks bland, whereas the ps2 although rough around the edges all the hues pop out An are very vibrant. The Kuhn scene at the end especially was one of my favorites, an it all jus looks kinda faded.

This series was so much fun. You should have redone the first one first though.. like.. why? I would buy them all again if you remade the 1st ones.. they were brilliant games. I haven't read the comments so I hope I'm not just repeating what others are saying. I may pick this up.. I just feel like I should play the first ones first to complete my nostalgic drift.
I know it’s a remaster and all but .hack had such a nostalgic factor on the ps2
I like this comparison but the only thing that bugs me is that the ps2 footage is in widescreen, which the original games didn't support.
I bought this the other day. I'm enjoying it way more than my AAA games.
The differences are pretty obvious, given the hardware upgrades of each console generation, and improves pixel qualities.

Maybe cause the game play/ fighting style here is better and more worth of a remake. Just my thought though.
Randolf Perez they actually lost the source coding and stuff of the original and this series was easier for them to upscale for modern consoles

It seems like they used one of those generic photoshop filters while resizing the world textures, you just have to look close at them to notice this. They only look nice from a distance really.

the ps2 would lag too, but that isnt a bad thing, it pushed the ps2 to it's limits. GU was a series of games way ahead of their time.

I finished hack//gu last Recode and plat the game everything in the Remaster is better than original high frame rates better models looks cutscene got Remaster with better light but they change some stuff which is ruined my whole experience like they nerf some enemies beside some strong bosses also buff haseo dmg that's makes the game much easier i remember ps2 way much hard and you had to bring Atoli with you and buy alot of healing items if u want to go to a dungeon also going alone is dangerous if u died it's game over no Retry button I'm going to play vol 3 with cheat codes like playing as other character no more of haseo 😂
Perhaps someday the publisher of this marvelous RPG will release it for switch. But my hopes are not too high 😐.

This is truly.... an unimpressive remaster. Sure the resolution is a lot better and the colors are "improved", but it makes the lack of any mouth movements and the somewhat lackluster 3D models stand out as being... well, unimpressive. As much as I love .hack, they'd need to do better than that before I'd dump another $50 on second copies.
