I don't know about a remastered collection of the first series. imo, the first games haven't aged quite as well. I'd rather see a remake of them.

As much as everyone can agree that the Infection series deserve an HD Remaster, it's unlikely it's going to happen. The games have not aged well in the past decade and the developers will have to remake it from the ground up since the gameplay hasn't aged well.
Personally, I rather take a new trilogy/tetralogy.
It's kinda funny that the dot hack series has always been a "PC" Game in the shows universe, yet has never come to PC before now.

I still remember how G.U. kept my mind "sane" from the bullying I had in school. The only thing I wait for the whole week was G.U. since my parents only allowed me to touch PS2 on Saturdays and Sundays. It literally saved my life for not making me think about suicide...

Ahh the doppleganger. You know he was the first thing that made me actually prepare for something in real life. Like, I read every FAQ, got the best weapons, a butt load of items and what I got in return was VICYORY...and a sweet ass dopleganger scythe.

Hopefully this sells well enough to fund remakes of the first tetralogy. Those could benefit more from an HD facelift if given the Crash N Sane Trilogy treatment.
Not popular enough to dump enough money into them for a remake like Crash. Unfortunately. However one can dream this remaster actually sells really well.
Hector Montes To be fair, the Crash remakes seem to have been relatively cheap to make. Relatively being the keyword, but they were cheap enough to sell three full games for less than one. Not to mention they can cut costs further by just doing the remakes (as opposed to the new fourth GU volume).
After all, updating with an existing base is cheaper than making something wholly new.
I think they'd have to change a lot with the original 4 though. Those games look very muddy compared to G.U. and the gameplay now, would not hold up and be received well. It's a lot slower and more repetitive than G.U. While i would enjoy a remaster of the first 4 as well, i think they'd have to change the pacing of the games and the gameplay would need to be tweaked a bit. I'm just glad that the .Hack franchise is getting a revamp.

Soul Survive big time. Biggest reason Haseo will always be better is his growth. He has to earn his power, he has to learn to trust others, he has to lose his ego and grow. Kirito is just naturally gifted and has zero flaws .

It was such a good stories and a lot of detail put into it to feel like a MMO. The music is amazing too. But I hope the improvements to the combat fix the stale combat.

This game trailer bring me memory of 10 years ago, when I desperately waited for my college entrance test result for at least 4 month, I played and beat all three of.hack G. U games...those games have advance stories and gameplay ahead of the time when those games were released

I recommend it. I think it's a very good series. Only warning i can give is if you don't like randomized dungeon crawling and repetitive gameplay / fights, be a bit cautious. For what's offered in terms of story, characters and music, i think it's great and with this collection and pricing i think it's very worthwhile.

Speaking .hack, I did currently got to watching the anime series...es, and I gotta say I enjoyed SIGN, I didn't like Legend of the Twilight though I heard it's original manga is better, I'm currently watching Roots and I like it so far and I haven't touched Quantum yet because I haven't finished Roots yet....
SIGN was good. I think SIGN's soundtrack was amazing, like with a large portion of the .Hack series. Twilight is definitely a mixed bag and a bit of an underwhelming entry .Hack//Roots serves as a prelude to the G.U. games and the events that take place in those games. It's not required to watch Roots to understand the G.U. games though. Glad you're enjoying it so far.
JESUS THIS LOOKS FANTASTIC! Yuri Lowenthal voicing Haseo was a great choice, the animation and models look beautiful, I know I'm not one to say this from my perspective but it looks like a nostalgia trip for old fans and a great introduction to new ones. Best part, NOVEMBER 3RD IS THE RELEASE DATE!!!!

On another note, the FMV cutscenes in this look really choppy. I hope they don't look like that in-game. Beyond all this negative stuff though, this is really exciting! .hack// is back! Now hopefully CC2 can find a way to bring new life into the Little Tail Bronx series too. A sequel to Solatorobo, perhaps?

Link story didn't make sense cause that game wasn't meant to be cannon. If you read what was released of the manga & the creator notes at the back of the mange you would know that .hack//Link Manga was suppose to be the official cannon but guess what thanks to the publisher of the manga shutting down business it never got finished so that shitty game that was alternate telling of the manga like how the first FMA (is different than the manga) that is why the game was shit & just got retconned as the official cannon. Seriously if they do remaster .hack//Link which the probably will I want them to make it like the Manga that did why better at telling Tokio story & didn't ruin all the previous .hack cast. Heck the manga made it up to when Tokio first encounter Haseo & Tsukasa is actually helping him save Haseo from his old self. Pretty much I want them to do an FMA:BH with .hack//Link.

I know this is old and there have been rumors about a new cyber connect game, possibly a .hack game, but since I cannot find any other comment on that I want to share this:
There is an easter egg while on volume 4 and when speaking with Piros the 3rd (on the last you-need-to-talk-with-everybody sequences). He tells you that a new "world" is on the making, possibly an R3 version or something, but he cannot reveal more than that. Since this is happening "now", I am 100% sure this is not about any other title but ".hack"! Be it a new classic jrpg or a VR mmorpg, I hope we have more information soon. :)
That's less about a new .Hack but instead it's a reference about .Hack//Link, in the prologue of the game they said that a new version of The World was just released, The World RX

When I first played .hack//GU, the in-game version of The World (ver. II) came out around this year, along with the VR technology, too... And the problems that were relevant in game are quite present in the real world, too. It's scary how a game can predict such things.I should continue playing it... I just wish I had the other games in the series.

A Random Nerd had to be a 90's kid or been a teen in the 2000's one of the best trilogy in games I've played next to mass effect

Sometimes dreams really do come true. Thank you Bamco for letting the dot hack fans have another chance at nostalgia and experiencing something that can't quite be put into words. Legends never die, just rest up for their return.
Hopefully they'll release Last Recode on Xbox next. All we need now is:
1. IMOQ Remaster/Remake/Digital Ports on PC, Consoles, or Mobile/Tablets
2. Anime Series based on AI Buster or Another Birth Manga Novels
3. Dot Hack Versus Addons with bonus content and characters released outside of Japan
This is perfect timing since we're in the age of AI, so new content like a .hack//Metaverse VR Battle Royale Game, Manga, Anime, Movie, or Crossover would be so lit!

Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that the best features they implemented simply dumb down the original mechanics so that today's gamers can actually have a chance at it?
The original G.U. was the perfect game series that combined a high learning curve with actual fun gameplay. I still remember how hype I was when I finally got all through the Forest of Pain's 100 floors. Sometimes I think the jokes about Millenials being lazy aren't just jokes.

Skyhound are you kidding? Gu's game mechanics were easy as shit. There was no learning curve. Lol. I spent so much time mindlessly killing stuff because it was so easy and relaxing.
But like the video said, cheat mode is literally for getting right to the plot. Which makes sense if you have limited time before or after work to play, you want to jump into the new game but want to refresh your memory and enjoy the story of the previous 3.
Hopefully there will be a toggle, so I can enjoy mindless grinding on my one day off, and skip forward the rest of the week so it doesn't take me months just to get through one game.

Lathy Loon have you ever tried an underlevled playthrough? I guarantee you change your tone about this game lacking mechanics,exploits, or in game knowledge necessary for completeting the game. Sadly they are going to dumb down an already simple game so i doubt those little tricks/mechanics will stay.

Fuck yes!! I've been waiting for this remaster for fucking YEARS! It looks so god damn good. If you don't consider this a remaster, I have no idea what it is then.
Not too keen on the fact that there's a cheat mode in the game now. Kinda takes the fun out of everything. Also fun fact for those who never bothered to look it up, the name GU is intentional; "jiyuu" in Japanese means freedom.

It's not forcing you to use it. It's optional.
This option maybe was made for peoples that already played the games (or only vol1 , or vol2 , or vol3) so they can skip some vol , and play the ones that they haven't played yet

Doodlebug Four like he said. Dual audio. So you can decide for yourself which is better. For example, I prefer ffxiv:arr and HW in French because the English dub is garbage and the Japanese dub is mediocre. My French friend says they prefer German because the dialogue is less cringy than French. My German acquaintance prefers English because the German apparently awful but English dialogue is fantastic to him.

So why do we have a "DSP" difficulty mode for stress free gameplay? If dying in a video game stresses you out then you shouldn't be playing video games. Why don't you just give the players a "win" button while you are at it?

Video games is the wrong medium for you then. Games are meant to be played. If you cant set aside time then oh well. Either set aside time or don't play it.

However someone achives that is irrelevant as long as it doesn't affect your experience like in Multiplayer games for example.
Saddam Amin - I have said this elsewhere and will say it here. It you can't set aside 30 minutes a day to get good than you are simply a lazy gamer and have piss poor time management.
"Fun" may be subjective. But letting your players just ROFLstomp through the game with no real obstacles is not fun. If you want story, go watch a movie. A video game is a long term time investment to learn and grow in. If you can't be bothered than don't pick it up.

Fucking edgy asf and cringe dialogue. Music is nice though, but for anyone who has played through the games what exactly is the gameplay? I'm guessing the OG JRPG turn based combat I hate since this is a ps2. Also I would really like to play through the story so is that thing were you max out your stuff for a easy time to enjoy the game thing something I should do as well?

Volt65 nope it is not turn based but kinda semi real time as you trigger an enemy first before fighting (or when an enemy spots you). tbh if you're not that short of time you should play regularly as by grinding you'll get more items (you can make your own dungeon by combining three different words plus a choice of servers available. as such there's always loot on dungeons where you grind. different combinations will give you different types of field with a set of levels the enemies will have on that dungeon.)
imo, grinding is really fun in this game and I am a fan of the gamelay (it's similar with Tales of games and their artes) 😄

The combat is Hack and slash and you can see the monsters in a semi open world that you can either avoid or intimate with. The combat can get kind of stale but what game doesn't? What everybody loves about this game is the setting and the story. It feels like a real modern day MMO(and this was on a PS2) and the story is just so epic and fantastic that you actually feel for the characters. If you like the Tales Of series, you'll love this game.
