One of the greatest moments in my football career and this August will be 30 yrs that Milton Keynes won their first bowl Championship and it was an honor to Play QB for them. We made such memories that season with some great young men.
I used to watch the Milton Pioneers during the 1995 and 1996 seasons, I don't think I was able to make all home matches, but I made most of them in 1995. I remember in 1995 there was a competition - in one of the programmes - to draw a scene from an American Football match, which I did and submitted it and won. I won a Milton Keynes Pioneers t shirt, which was presented to me by Brian Day after one home match. I think Brian used to write for the programmes in 1995 but I can't remember exactly. I managed to get a few autographs afterwards, as there was an autograph section at the back of the programme. The only name I can remember definitively was Quarterback Chuck Lynch, whose autograph I managed to acquire after one wet match on a Sunday in June 1995. I seem to remember making it to a fair few that year, even one where the home match was moved to another venue for some reason, which I cannot for the life of me remember the name of. I think I only managed to make it to two matches in 1996 when the Pioneers moved to the Hockey Stadium, the last one I attended was on a blistering hot Sunday on 14th July 1996. There was a stall just outside selling American Football memorabilia and I managed to pick up a few New York Jets (my favourite team) trading cards. Nice to watch this video and recall some great memories from my early-teens. I wish I had kept the programmes now, as they were filled with good articles and recipes. I wish I still had the t shirt too. I have been going through some photos I took at the time, none of them very good, but it brought back a lot of fond memories for me. One final recollection - I remember one home match (at the Manor Fields) in 1995 and I was sat in the corner in the shade on my rug, on the home side. And at half time the opposing team came and sat with me. I felt a bit bad as I wondered what it must have looked like to the Pioneers players seeing a home fan sat with the away team. All I can remember is the away team had brown jerseys, and one particularly nice player sat next to me; asked my name and when I replied he said: "How's it going, Lee?" and shook my hand, I still think about that event and the nice player to this day, sadly, I have no idea who he was.
