Why do people edit in the loud music over the video? Background music isn’t supposed to be loud.

Why does this wiring harness need a lead from the battery? Never seen that before?

The power lead is for the module box on the trailer wiring kit. The ford escape needs a module box to help convert/ give power to the trailer wiring. For more info on those here's a video: th-cam.com/video/e8_J0V8VwEo/w-d-xo.html

Pretty disappointed in your choice to run the battery positive under the vehicle..... rookie

We try to follow the manufactures instructions for the install. In this case, they suggest running the power wire under the vehicle. This is also a simpler way to route the wire as well and does not pose an issue as long as you avoid hot or moving parts. Thanks for the feedback though. :)

@@trailerhitches thats funny i just installed one on a 17 escape today and the ford instructions said to remove the battery box and then remove a soft plug pull the wire through and run it next the the harness that runs up the drivers side..... must be a bargin brand you were installing did you use plastic convolute over that wire under the vehicle i didnt finish watching.......

The wiring we installed in this particular video is made by Tekonsha (Horizon Global p#118566) The majority of their kits instruct to go under the vehicle. Every wiring manufacture will have different instructions for routing a power wire. And we only use parts provided in the manufactures kit which did not include a convolute. Of course a customer may elect to have us use one during install at any U-Haul hitch center!
