    The Bolts are on a steep upward trajectory. They had a terrific season, albeit the manner of their loss in the end was disappointing. It should be a fun off season watching how Hortiz goes about his business with $100M in cap space and at least 10 draft picks.

      I was there. Not TV. He didn’t really have anywhere to go. He was better off trying to chuck it for more yards than maybe a couple yards. The Texans really dominated our undermanned offense in every way. Interior OLine was playing on roller skates and Ladd was the only one that could get open.

      @@texmcboog doesn't matter. he didnt' even try, that's the point. no risk no reward. He is a big boy, PULL IT DOWN, BREAK A FRIGGIN TACKLE, FAKE A PASS..ETC...

    • @texmcboog
      @texmcboog 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@baliscotsurf Again, I was there, high seats, 50 yard line. He wasn’t going to break anything. The Texans had our offense on lock down. He had “better” chances for more yards trying to hit a receiver. There just wasn’t anywhere to go. It was very frustrating to watch. Maybe a few 3-5 yard gains, but nothing open field. Remember on a pass play, the QB on the drop back still has to go 5-10 yards just to get back to the LOS. The Texans are fast and close quickly.
      Believe me I would be the first to criticize, I don’t play fanboy to anyone. Herbert had NO HELP except for Ladd. They were exposed.

    Honestly, on the 1 yard line botched snap, when the ball perfectly bounces back into his hands it was so deflating. When things like that are happening, dropped passes (leading to a Pick 6).. weird plays time n time again just ruins the feel of the game. To bounce back mentally after all that is insanely hard and gets the team into a fight or flight panic mode. What can ya do.. I am so hopeful for this team moving forward though and all this herb slander is insane. Dude is such a stud. 2025 here we come!

    • @martin9410

      When that botched snap happened, I told my wife, that's it. The tide has turned, and we're going to lose. I've seen these strange turnarounds often with the Chargers and the handwriting on the wall.

    • @Willtellthetruth
      @Willtellthetruth 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, bouncing back mentally is hard. Winning playoff games is hard. So far, Justin Herbert hasn't been up to the challenge. Maybe that's different next year or the year after, but at this point he's lost his three biggest games as a Charger and his performances are getting worse. (Those games are the 2021 week 18 game against the Raiders where a win gets them in the playoffs and the Chargers lose in OT. The second game is the Jacksonville playoff game where the Chargers scored 3 points in the second half to turn a 27-0 2nd quarter lead to a 31-30 loss despite being favored, and this game where the team scored a total of 12 points and lost by 20 despite being favored.)

      @@Willtellthetruth yea i know it's frustrating but how many games has he willed us to a win that people don't mention. In the jaguars game, if they don't have that missed fg, we win. In this game, the narrative that we were going to go in there an essentially have a bi week was absurd. Watching their D, they were massively underrated going in. Could he have done some stuff differently, of course but to put those losses solely on him is essentially watching football with your eyes closed. Plays happen in each of those games that he has impact on that flip the outcome of the game. I'm riding with herb and harbaugh. For the people that say otherwise, show me your alternative. Bills aren't trading allen, chiefs aren't trading mahomes, bengals not trading Burrow, ravens not trading LJ, so where do you think we can improve? Sam darnald probably gona be on the market 🙃

    I’m a season ticket holder since the Chargers moved to LA. Finally Dean Spanos decided to get winners into front office. We’ve had the players in the past but coaching and the front office lacked football IQ (skill) and real leadership. Brandon Staley proved to be a fraud. President of Football Operations was a failure until Dean Spanos decided to get real football guys in the organization. Bringing in Jim Harbaugh and letting him get the coaches he wanted and Joe Hortiz as GM… wow! What a 1st year they put in the books! This season was a profound success regardless of the outcome versus the Texans. Looking forward to the offseason and 2025 season.

    Thinking out loud. We didn't have a lot of money last year so now that we do this year no excuses if the same outcome comes next year! Herbert has shown he doesn't have that killer instinct in the post season. He has showed similar in games during the year when he settles for field goals or no points at all. They say three strikes and you're out so if you want to give Herbert the benefit of the doubt he has to show in his next post season appearance he can get over the hump. If he can't then it might be time to look towards the future with someone else. Having ice in ones veins isn't a every player thing so if he doesn't have it he is still a nice guy and I wish him all the best if down the road we have to move on from him. While his weapons didn't do him any favors by dropping normal balls they would catch, other QB's have worked with the same, did more and actually ran the ball! Herbert has wheels and we don't use it at all! At least give this team maybe a 4 for 40 each game and we can build off that. To wrap all this up they say this is the worse we will see this team but again it comes down to the QB. We will see happens this year and also just something to keep in mind since Roman isn't creative that as long as he remains with this team this will prolong and kind of positive progress so lets hope someone scoops him from our team to get a more creative OFF coordinator. Great pod by the way!

  • @BrentTharp

    I'm looking forward to the draft after seeing how seriously Hortiz's guys had scouted prospects for their skills and how they eould fit with team culture. We'll see what ultimately happens with the late rounders, but it's pretty clear that we didn't draft a single dud in terms of fit. And these guys knew what they were doing. They knew exactly who they wanted in each slot. They obviously WANTED McConkey because they traded up to make sure they got him. I trust that they've been working hard all season putting together their picks for the board. I think we'll see some interesting picks that pan out well just like last year's. But this time, Harbaugh and his other coaches, as well as the scouts, have a season of experience to reference in assessing their draft needs.

    Correct me if I am wrong, I did not have the All-22 film, but even on the replay of the network broadcast of the heave across the field to QJ that ended in the INT, I saw Ladd getting separation on a corner in front of Justin on the right side. If I saw correctly, that was the second TD to Ladd that Justin just plain missed.
    Tee Higgins is my dream WR. He is *exactly* what Justin needs to couple with Ladd. As Money points out, this is not a very good WR draft, so getting a vet, especially a young vet like Tee, is critical. Cam Skattebo is also one of my favorite picks and may be available. Tyler Warren is a dream pick, but will go early. Perhaps Loveland will be there at 22.
    Bosa is a great player, but the old adage applies here: The best ability is availability. Plus, releasing him, if necessary, would get relief from $36M cap hit down to $11M, if released. As noted, this is a good draft for edge help and Tuli needs a young edge to start working with. Center is also a position that would best be filled with a vet.
    Fun season; fun off season upcoming. Go Bolts.

I still believe in Harbaugh and Joe but the commentary on Herbert is accurate right now. Sure other QB''s started 0-2. But these losses carry a weight. We have seen some of the worst losses and or embarrassment in the past 3 years and I have been a fan since 1988. Yes things will get better and I believe in Herbert, but this needs to change. Build an awesome O line with a monster RB so Herbert only has to throw like 12-15 times a game because he clearly struggles against teams with winning records and hes nowhere close to elite. Treat him like a QB at Michigan where you dont want him throwing it much and you run 50 times. Thats how you win.

    The edelman comp to mcconkey is so lazy. He’s more like a young antonio brown with a good head on his shoulders

    Imo, greg roman needs to be replaced. he lacks creativity in his play calls. They need to upgrade the O line and Wide Receivers.

    Where the hell did Stone Smart disappear to? He was making plays left and right while dissly was out. He was clearly a better receiver than dissly. Why didn't they stick with him and give Herbert another weapon to throw to. I'm a little nervous about some of these small decisions in who to play. Ja sir Taylor should never touch the field for the chargers again. Please don't talk to me about injuries either. It's part of the game and should be prepared for.
