- I get it. You have multiple interests and you don't want to niche. When I was starting my channel, all the TH-cam gurus we're advising you to niche down. Buttt, I felt like I had more to talk about than just one topic!
There's a strategy that works better than niching and it'll give your content some variety while still having a focal point. The strategy I use is creating a Target Audience Persona.
In this video, I break down the difference between how to find your niche, how to create a target audience and how to create a target audience persona!

ive done both and noticed that when you have a niche, people dont follow you for you. you think they're loyal followers, but they're not. they'll click unfollow the second you post something that isn't your exact niche. when you post whatever you want is when people will grow attached to you and watch all your stuff whatever you post

She is awesome! She really gets it. What she is saying you never know what content/ topics will be the next hit on your channel!! So why lock yourself down to a specific niche that may not make it!. It's best to get your feet wet and go for it! Be messy in the beginning for the practice. Remember practice makes perfect and be open minded 🥰

If you’re doing TH-cam, you most definitely don’t have to niche. Even a lot of TH-camrs that do, they’ll do the same thing for 1-2 years and do the next thing for 1-2 years. TH-cam videos get a lot of engagement based on what EVERYONE wants to see not just your subs. Now with a Instagram business page and websites, it should be niched down. If you want to do multiple things think about constructing multiple pages. For instance: you want to sell all kind of candles. Have a page that sells ALL of your ideas. Then one that is Faith based and one that is funky/unique. Each IG page can target THAT particular customer.

I am finally realizing that creating content that I'd like to watch as an audience is the way to go. It helps gather like minded people as subscribers and grow a community that's supportive and engaging. It also helps to keep it so healthy for the mindset and keeps you motivated as well.

I have 10K on my main channel account. I don’t enjoy watching diy videos and I’m losing interest in MAKING DIY videos. When I post a video NON diy it gets so so low views compared to a diy. 😭🥺

I agree! My niche was natural hair because I was always told the best way to be successful on YT is to have a niche. But after a couple of years that niche actually wasn’t beneficial for me creating consistent content because there’s no way I can wash my hair 3 times a week. So over the last few months I’ve been trying to dig myself out of that niche hole and incorporate my other interests such as makeup, fragrance and skincare. It can be discouraging because those videos don’t get as many views as my natural hair content because that’s what my channel was built on. But it’s a way for me to build a new audience that are interested in my other interests and allows me to create more content. So I’ll keep pushing to grow those views for makeup, fragrance and skincare. Because one thing I’ve learned about content creating, if you’re not doing the things you love you won’t continue to create. I always want YT to be fun and something I enjoy and not feel like just another job 😉

I’ve literally felt like this for years! Holding out on even trying in the first place because I could never decide on just one thing or category. I’m just now setting the intention to figure out how to go about expressing my creativity without limits. This was so necessary to hear! Ive had my youtube channell for 8 years and have always felt stuck with trying to find a niche to grow my channel. Trying to find a “niche “ has held me back quite a bit cause I have so many different videos that I want to create but I felt locked in to trying to find just one thing and because I couldn’t choose I’ve just been dragging my feet. Love that you always think outside the box and go against the narrative when necessary especially when it has worked for you. Sometimes hearing the same things about growing on TH-cam (and it’s not working) it’s can be a lil confusing and frustrating. I love variety so this is helpful.

This has BLOWN. MY. MIND. I always heard "niche down" and knew what that meant, but as you said, I have always felt too restricted. I've also seen/read a lot about personas but no one ever explained how this REALLY can come into play when it comes to my niche, and how it actually helps me EXPAND my niche, without stepping too far out of it. This is a very good video which really hit home. I've also been hearing about niches for ever. Although it may make sense on the surface, it's just that, the surface.
I have checked out many TH-cam channels that are very niche specific and have been around for a year of more. if you look at many of their current videos they are essentially a rehash of their older videos, I did not want to end up in the same rutt.
Trying to be niche specific has been one of the main stumbling blocks for me trying to set my channel up. This video has really helped me go with my original idea which was incredibly close to what is described in this video. Thank You.

Thank you so much for your videos, especially this one. I wanted to create my own TH-cam channel for a while now but whenever I asked myself about which niche I want settle in to, I immediately felt unmotivated and frustrated because I couldn't really imagine myself talking only about one niche over and over, it feels like I have to tame my personality :-D Being aware now, that niching down is neither the only right way nor the most effective way, makes me feel like a burden has been lifted from me.

Wow... thank you SO much for this! First of all, just discovered you through Grow With Video Live! Great talk today! But this video... THIS video! Thank you! I am a multi-passionate. This is who I am. It's a way of life for me. I've done multiple niche businesses throughout my life and usually burn out HARD after about a year or so. My persistence (and stubbornness) will push me to stay with that niche for longer until I despise it. I started a podcast a few years back (and now TH-cam Channel!!) :D that is intended to bring more of a diversity of topics to the show. Sure, there's a target audience - people who are multi-passionate and also like nerdy and geeky things. We don't JUST talk nerd stuff, but it's part of it, along with other things we feel need to be shared and discussed. Everyone has told me I would fail and that it couldn't succeed. All of the advice was that I should talk about ONE topic, beat the dead horse, and be miserable. I decided not to take that advice. It's been a hard road, I haven't blown up or reached massive success, but I have discovered there are a LOT of multi-passionates out there looking for shows/content/channels that talk about a variety of things. That's been so cool and affirming. Your video (and all of the wonderful comments I read) also prove that there's a community of people looking for a variety of content, as well as wanting to create a variety of content. The tough thing now is - HOW do we multi-passionates grow our channels? How do we get noticed and still utilize the algorithm?
