What I love about the guy singing bass is that he makes it look so effortless. Breath support? Enunciation? Nope, no worries. He's just having a good time!
Barbershop basses are like NBA centers. There are guys who play center but aren't really built for it, and there are guys who are the size of a center but don't know how to use it, but then there the guys that make you say, "Now that's a CENTER."
jesusthroughmary - That’s actually a very good analogy! Didn’t even think of that but it’s very true. They sort of set the pace for the rest of the team to head in (I’m biased because I’m a bass myself haha)
The man singing bass teaches choral directing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and has a doctorate in composition and theory from Washington University. I studied with him in 2010 when I got my BME degree. Such a great experience.
My only gripe is that on Fred’s part they don’t show his face, other than that it was a Wonderful performance as expected, I’ve listened to it about 5 times in the past 2 days alone
Goddamn i love old school blues and barbershop... but I just can't enjoy this. 'cos of the rape. All the heinous child abuse the catholic church as not only permitted, but actively endorsed. Fuck, these are some confusing emotions. The music is amazing: but the child rape... fuck.
Nobody:
Dr. Jim Henry: "buhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuhbuh"

Jim Henry, a multi gold medal winner in the BHS community!!.

Would jokic and Embiid make good barbershop basses that’s the real question
Couldn't stop saying 'wow' about every three seconds listening through this... just so easy and wonderful to listen to
I'm having a wonderful time down here listening to these boys sing this song.
From the moment they start singing, they make me happy!
They would have me in the palms of their hands by the end of measure one, every time.
Every time I think they can't get any better they prove me wrong. Wow...
Couldn't get any better!!! ABSOLUTELY SMASHING PERFORMANCE!!!!
My favorite quartet of all time. These guys STILL rock!
Not only will everyone have a wonderful time up there, I had a wonderful time listening! What a joy they are!
Yes Indeed! *YES INDEED!* These guys don't fool around, haha i were sitting here with a huge smile on my face, the man singing bass is simply a champ!

1:58 is just ridiculous!

Not really into gospel music but this song goes!!
Brandon's confidence is palpable.
Great Job fellows!
Randy is one of my two most favorite bbs leads ever. The other is Calvin Yoder. Sadly, both are no longer with us.
I was really hoping for a bass slide on the final tag. Still one of the best versions of this song though.
Listening to the end of their song: Rock My Soul. Dr Henry does a little bass slide. Enough to fill my bass singing appetite, least 🙂
Wow
Amazing i like it
Is the sheet music available? That's a base part I would love to sing.
WOW!
fred go off

What? This has nothing to do with the Catholic Church. You need to let go of that filter right away!
@@drkyre ...what?
It's an explicitly religious song.
The term 'religion' is mentioned several times as is 'the lord' etc
@@nuberifficSo you think the word religion automatically means Catholicism? How wrong you are.
