My local labour council have been in charge for almost 50 years straight and they are bankrupt, not because they didn't get the funding from central government, but because they are financially illiterate and spent what they had on stupid vanity projects and growing their administrative arm...
They are currently in the process of raising rents and council taxes, whilst repossessing social housing from those who are struggling to survive...

The total number of NHS hospital beds In England has more than halved between 1987/88 and 2019/20, going from 299,000 to 141,000. There is 10 million extra people now living in England compared to 1988. How's that working out? Of course the NHS is on its knees.

There is much talk of point-of-care systems to reduce cost and improve healthcare. In their simplest form, this is the recording of certain data at the first point-of-contact with the patient, so that the treatment team having something immediate to work on. This may be as simple as using a smartphone to post photographs to patient records. My American daughter-in-law who is a practioner in South Carolina saw such a scheme implemented within nine months. We were involved at the periphery of a similar UK initiative. In the same period the NHS didn't get beyond ethical consideration of minority inclusion for POC systems, even though it would be of immediate benefit to the great majority of patients.

Well we could have had 10 weeks more of the last government. Given their track recorded over the last 14 years what could we have expected? Would there have been more knives in the back and a new PM. Would the plane have flown. Would the boats have stopped. Would HS2 still be swallowing money. Would you be able to see a doctor or a dentist without having first to 'rob a bank' to pay for it. Would you still have to spend half a day in A&E before you are told ' you should have gone to your doctor'. Would you still be able to give your WFP to charity because you don't need it and its embarrassing. Would the striker still be on strike. This channel is for complainers. They'll be complaining next that they're too young to get a pensioners special at your local chippy. Just my thoughts, have a great weekend.
