  • Former Botswana President Ian Khama says he's not a fugitive since he is not running away from justice.
Khama is currently in South Africa.
He has been slapped with charges relating to the unlawful possession of firearms in Botswana.
But he has described the charges as trumped up and forming part of the persecution he has suffered at the hands of the Botswana government.
Khama maintains that all his firearms are licensed.
Attempts to reach the Botswana government for comment, were unsuccessful.
SABC News reporter Khayelihle Khumalo asked former President Khama if he would ever go back home.

@@onwardmuvhuni5457 No. He is not a fugitive so far, as there are still investigations and prosecution going on. I believe he is just running away from proving his alleged innocence. Why is he in South Africa for quite some time (almost a year) and giving his versions to SABC, instead of be in his country giving his versions where other parties are able to do the same. For me he is done something very wrong!
