It is a great exhaust. Much like FMF exhausts have the "power bomb", this pipe has an expansion portion hidden up under the bike, in a cavity above the center stand. Amazing engineering in that they incorporated that feature, yet hid it so well, making it look like a traditional short pipe.
I have one of these Tadao's on my 2013. They look much more appropriate than the OEM monstrosities. They are about the width of a Tennis Ball can, but two or three inches longer. Note how it ends BEFORE the rear axle, which allows some work do be done without the removal of the muffler. At idle, they are pretty quite, which is nice if you ever plan on speaking to another rider waiting at the traffic light with you. The sound is somewhat akin to a crouch rocket's but much quieter and refined, without the super high pitch at higher speeds. Even at the highest speeds, they are pretty quite and refined. At 112 MPH I was pulling 6,200-6,300 rpm. (They do NOT demand your attention at red lights like Harleys.) Due to their smaller size, with sliders and engine bars installed, I would imagine they would be able to take a crash without much damage. They tuck-up against the frame and under the rear pegs pretty well.)
In the spirit of the retro CB design, the exhaust has a period correct look, which was important to me. The gurgle sound on deceleration is pretty sweet, as well.
From an engineering perspective, the shorter, smaller diameter, exhaust increases higher RPM performance at the cost of low end torque. The "Power Box" hidden up under the frame is supposed to maintain your low end performance while allowing the visible portion of the exhaust to maintain the same look as a short performance pipe, and also be a bit quieter. If you look at FMF exhausts, they have their Powerbomb and Megabomb (www.fmfracing.com/Products/MX/264) products which tout the same engineering benefits. Whether the benefits are real, or not, I could not be happier with the Tadao pipe mated with my Power Commander 5 module. Totally changed the character of the bike.
That's a pretty clean replacement. I was lucky mine came with a Yoshimura full system in black. Looks sharp and sounds even better

New sound is more a kind of 'racing' ... awesome !! ... Greetings from Austria
Hi Darrell, thanks a lot for the feedback!

always good to have some growl on an inline 4!
Nice bike, I have the same one. What is the purpose/benefit of the "Power Box" on this exhaust. I'm looking to purchase the same one. Thanks

Hell yea... Now get rid of that big, dorky rear fender to make it clean looking...
