Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I miss Gran Canaria soooo much… if you are looking for locals in Maspalomas you have to go to San Fernando, that’s where we live… all the schools, doctors, houses… when you go to the center of the Island, ask for bienmesabe, our delicious desert with ice cream…

No me canso de decirlo, vivo en un paraíso. Tengo la Playa de las Canteras a 10 minutos, puedo ver la nieve en la cumbre de la isla un rato después, y finalizar tomando el sol en el sur de la isla, TODO EN UN SÓLO DÍA. Lo de que Gran Canaria es un Continente en miniatura, es verdadero.
También tienes 4000 ilegales en los hoteles del sur más 1000 menitas repartidos por la isla dando amor....no es para quejarse no....
@@jorgeguanche5327 Te lo crees todo verdad? No eran 4000... Ni 400... Los dueños cobraban por darles alojamiento, y a penas estuvieron unos días hasta que se hicieran las comprobaciones de identidad. Muchos han sido repatriados. Los que reunian requisitos, por tener familia en Europa, ya han viajado. Creo que te deberías informar, más y mejor o de mejores fuentes. Era en plena pandemia y una forma humanitaria de que estuvieran protegidos, y no había turismo en la isla. Los hoteles estaban cerrados, y teniendo pérdidas. Que un empresario aprovechó para no caer en la ruina, mira por donde esa acción salvó un negocio en concreto, porque sólo fue ese, y los puestos de trabajo.

El continente en miniatura es la isla Gran Canaria , para tu información las palmada de gran Canaria es la capital y las palmas la provincia ( que incluye Fuerteventura, Lanzarote y Gran Canaria) es increíble que los propios Canariones no lo sepan cómo es tu caso

Great video thank you, I was there mid Feb for a quick break and loved it. Been many times and still need sun cream even on new years day. Also walked from the lighthouse all the way round to the bars at where the big Maspalomas sign is. Highly recommended for a winter break if you live near Manchester UK like we do.
Hello Robert.. Personally speaking, I would rather go there for vacation than Málaga simply due to weather and the fact that you get to be on an island far away.. I would recommend it to people from the UK as well.. Saludos !

Canarias ha sido desde hace 500 años lugar de parada en el trayecto España América.
Los ingleses desde el s.XIX construyeron hoteles, en las palmas y Tenerife.
Y la relación con las islas ha sido constante , Incluido el Almirante Nelson atacando las islas para quedarselas o los piratas ingleses para empobrecerlas .jajaja.
Al final decidieron venir de vacaciones 😀😂🤗

Here in the Canary Islands prices are cheaper than the peninsula because of IGIC tax which is 7% whereas in the peninsula IVA tax is 21% or so, it’s an economical politic called RIF implemented to compensate our distance from the rest of Europe :)
That’s a very fair economic policy because the amount of goods being imported to the island is massive .. I mean most islands basically have everything you need

We were thinking of staying in Maspalomas for a few days, but we were wondering if there is anything else to do in and around Maspalomas except lying on the beach and walking the dunes. (We are a couple past our prime and we are not interested in bars or such. Hikes or such would be nice.)

@@oeu3669 maspalomas has a lot of cheaper private rooms but you could also spend time in a rural village somewhere.. Tunte was actually quite beautiful and I’ve got a video from that area

La playa del sur que más me gusta es San Agustín, es pequeñita, super tranquila, y detrás tiene un restaurante que se llama "el capitán" que tiene mejor comida que en Maspalomas, que es muy turístico y tienen precios muy altos y no muy buena calidad. También tienes que probar el gofio escaldado, los longorones fritos, las puntitas de calamar, el queso frito con mermelada... Qué hambre 😂
Yo creo que para el turista sobretodo que vengan de países británicos es un paraíso vienen del frío al calor de las islas canarias

Estuve allí hace diez años y me gustó bastante. Los canariones son más simpáticos que los tinerfeños (chicharreros) con los godos (peninsulares) y la isla es todo lo que puedas pedir y mucho más. Olvidas que esa zona es un destino top del turismo gay y que las dunas son una caja de sorpresas... Por lo demás, genial. Gasolina barata, alcohol barato, tabaco barato y gente guapa. A ver si me animo a volver.
Love the Dunes. For the food, I'd rather be on mainland Spain to get authentic food and Tapas. Looks like a lot of touristy types of food there.

Las dunas en el pasado eran más grandes. Las edificaciones y la masiva visita de turistas las están degradando. Deberían limitar las visitas y restringir áreas de frágil equilibrio ecológico como las zonas con vegetación. Un saludo. I hope you had a great time on the island

Probably Malaga because it’s a concentrated area .. Gran Canaria is more spread out and maybe there are nordics spread throughout the archipelago

Yeah the first scene of me jumping in the sand dunes. I left my camera in the sand because I forgot it when I was filming with my phone. Then I left the dunes and realized I lost it only to run back to the dunes thinking it was long gone. But a German couple was there and asked was looking for me to let me know I lost it. And yeah, the island is special.. that place was like a better place than Fuengirola/Benamaldena
Lo restaurantes y locales de los anexos en playa del inglés son LAMENTABLES, están anclados en los años 90. Como puede ser que un sitio de visita obligada como las dunas de Maspalomas tenga esos restaurantes que dan ganas de todo menos de comer en ellos.

I think the correct translation for "Playa del Inglés" is "Beach of the English", rather than "English Beach", which in Spanish means "Playa Inglesa".

I am an islander, and even though I´m aware that tourism is our major source of income, I have to say that, during the pandemic and lack of visitors, I just loved to see our beaches filled with local families and people, with almost no sunbeds displayed all over as before and as of right now. I even thought "Hey, we´ve recovered our beaches for our our own, even if just for a while!!". Cheers, good luck!.
In English both translation are right. You can say “House of John” or “John’s House”

No fui allí pero fui a otros sitios chulos por el centro de la isla y el norte .. ya verás en los siguientes vídeos
1- 3:10 The islands are politically part of Europe but they are well on the African continent.
2- It's cheap, mass tourism after all. When Covid hit hard those islands found themselves all of a sudden cut off from their main source of income, luckily Spain's decent welfare system kicked in to feed the dependent majority on tourist money.
3- If Covid didn't teach Canary Islanders that full reliance on cheap tourism is totally wrong they'll be doomed at the next major event.
Desde luego Canarias no es la Costa Azul, pero es querido y disfrutado por los turistas de toda Europa.
Especialnente ingleses ,alemanes, nórdicos , etc. Porqué ?por el clima que ningún lugar de Europa tiene.

Supongo que querias decir Costa d'Azur (Francia), en ese caso claro que si no puedes comparar un modelo de turismo de lujo con turismo de masas (barato) como en caso de Canarias. Excepto por el buen clima (menos calimas y a veces viento) Canarias no tiene nada de valor cultural (historia, gastronomia etc) que puede ofrecer a los visitantes.
La verdad es que la gente de Europa del norte es detras del desarollo turistico de las islas, antes de los anos 1960-1970 los islenos abandonaban Canarias tan pronto como podían porque sin hoteles y playas no hubiera oportunidades de trabajo.

Tienes toda la razón , pero muchos primeros ministros de Europa etc también veranean cada año en Canarias.
Porqué? Porque es un N lugar con buen clima el mejor, sin contaminación, la calima, también está en Arabia y el Sáhara y muchos s van alli a montar en camello, jajaja. Eso también es exótico.
Las playas, el mar , los paisajes volcánicos junto a zonas alpinas y cultivadas, etc. Y las construcciones antecedente de la colonización , civilización, construcción, cristianización d América y modelo de ciudad La Laguna, Patrimonio de la Humanidad, trasladada luego al nuevo continente.
Es un lugar maravilloso para pasar vacaciones tranquilas.
Y si no te vas a Magaluz ,Ibiza,Torremolinos, o Huelva.
