    As a retired FAA controller I always called a C414 a "Chancellor", but noticed on one of your videos this is not correct. Apparently the C414A introduced in 1978 was known as this. I always used model name when known, this was a big help in reducing "missed calls". You usually got the pilots attention first time!
    Thank you

    Jerry, thank you for all your wonderful videos. I have really enjoyed them. Yesterday lost a brother in blue with my the department I work for. I want to let you know I have found comfort in watching your videos allowing me Escape just for a little bit. Keep the brown side down and blue side up.
    Life is short live to love and love to live. Be safe.

    Congrats on the new acquisition Jerry. A truly beautiful aircraft, built for comfort. I appreciate the "walk-around" for orientation. This "bird" has obviously been well loved and cared for. As for the rear facing seats: some people mind riding "backwards" while others do not. It's a personal preference. I'm a subscriber, keep the videos coming, I can't get enough of them. Well done sir!

    Nice airplane J.W.. The landing gear switch you pointed out is the downlock switch. This gear system isn't used on the Citation.
    It's a 300 & 400 series gear only and make sure anyone that works/rigs it knows EXACTLY what they are doing.The upper cowling on the engines need to be swapped left to right. Whats the airframe total time?

    • @Jerry.Wagner
      @Jerry.Wagner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      5500 air frame total time, after this video I discovered the facts about the landing gear, good catch on the cowlings, they were swapped during annual earlier this year

    Jerry, Nice tour. I have several C414 sales brochures and one is, I believe, the 1969 C414. I could scan and send you copies but would need email address and not sure if it is wise to put on this site. If you would like a copy maybe you can figure out how to get it. Still trying to watch (catch up) all your videos. Stay safe and until next time. Robert

    probably a stupid question but I've always wondered with twin "in wing" engines there is noticeably much less wing surface thus I would think there would be less lift and stability in a twin especially in the event of an engine failure? Care to educate me? Thanks in advance!

    • @Jerry.Wagner
      @Jerry.Wagner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the wings on a twin have more surface area than a single, according to the operating manual for my Cessna 414 in the event of an double engine failure at 10,000 feet the maximum glide with both props feathered is 23 miles at an indicated air speed of 119-138 MPH depending on weight

    Hi Jerry ... Really like your new 414, and really appreciate the detailed walk-around.
    Question: You have 20g tank on the starboard side and lockers in both nacelles? Is the port locker larger, or is that space taken up with other things?
    I imagine pressurization will be wonderful for you two!

    • @Jerry.Wagner
      @Jerry.Wagner  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      20 gallon aux tanks on each side and 20 gallon wing locker tank only on the right side, that tank is not connected to the engines, you need to flip a switch in flight and pump the fuel to the right tip tank and then crossfeed the fuel in flight to balance out the weight, i most likely will just leave enough fuel in that tank to keep the bladder wet unless planning on a long flight with less than a full load for weight and balance

    Beautiful plane Jerry. Great shape for a 70’s vintage. You thinking about upgrading the Garmin GNS. I have the GTN 650 in my Cardinal and like it. I’m a VFR pilot so I’m not fully utilizing its capabilities. From what I understand the big difference is touch screen. Not a big deal for me. Looking forward to future Vlogs.

    Nice plane, nice features in the cabin as well. I noticed there are no rubber boots for deicing on the wings. Isn't there any deicing at all, or some kind of heated leading edge?

    • @Jerry.Wagner
      @Jerry.Wagner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just like my last plane it only has prop de-ice heated boots, it is plumbed for De-Ice boots and it's on a list to check out but might be cost prohibited.

    Nice!! Gee, sure do hope that left gear deal is just the switch. I been reading up on how the gear on these works.. seems in general to be very well respected and used on many other airframes. All you need are those empinage strakes and the planned dash upgrades, and she’ll be a real honey! PIP on a chain for the door, simple and effective.

    • @Jerry.Wagner
      @Jerry.Wagner  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Strakes are $12.5 installed and does not seem worth it for 4-8 knots, I will get good use of the dash upgrades and the mandatory ADS-B, if I had one feature to add it would be de-ice boots but I believe that is not economically feasible, appreciate your good input

    • @jenniferwhitewolf3784
      @jenniferwhitewolf3784 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry W
      They sure not afraid to charge for those strakes! Makes it pretty hard to justify dividing the fuel savings into the cost... it would take forever to amortize. If they were a few grand, other story..

    How do you fill the tip tanks if the fuel filler cap sits on the top of the wing which is below the tip tanks

    • @Jerry.Wagner

      John Bull you can easily reach while standing on the ground or make it easier by using a ladder that is always available at self serve

      @@Jerry.Wagner So it has its own filler cap?

    • @Jerry.Wagner
      @Jerry.Wagner  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      each tank has it's own filler cap, 5 tanks total, tip tanks are the main and up high, aux tanks in the middle of the wing and the 5th tank is just aft of the right engine on the nacelle

    Beautiful airplane! Do yourself a favor and have the wiring redone on those legs. It has been messed with, guaranteed, they will chafe and short out one day giving you false lights or no lights. With a new unfamiliar aircraft it is always a good idea to have the entire gear checked over just to be sure. If I were you I would go ahead with the gear swing regardless. Enjoy this beauty!
