I'm a music addict. I live for music, it's what gets me up in the morning. It's the first thing I hear when I regain consciousness in the morning and the last thing I hear before I drift into oblivion at night. A very good friend introduced me to Anton, and I have never been able to get enough since. Love.

I probably shouldn't be as excited about this as I am.
Fingertips was originally written for Pol Pot's Pleasure Penthouse, which was The Brian Jonestown Massacre's first ever demo tape. The first time I heard that version of the song, I thought was one of the most wonderful things ever, a perfect blend of the Stone Roses' Madchester and the Cocteau Twins dream pop.
The song was basically abandoned after the demo was released, I've never heard/seen any footage of it performed live, the lyrics were impossible to determine and I was just disappointed that the song was so damn obscure. The fact that this video exists means that the song is being revisited for a new BJM record, meaning that hopefully, all of the above will be corrected.

Undoubtedly, his music is great, but when it comes to getting more exposure or lack of there of has been of his own making. I think his own paranoid has led him to have tons of problem not only with his own fellow musicians, but with any record label that tried to make business with him. There is a documentary around that shows exactly where the problem resides. Too bad because his music is legendary!

    Lyrics! If anyone was wondering...
    Looking through the looking glass,
All that seems won't ever last,
    Broken glass in every tree,
    Natural love I've never seen.
Slipping through my fingertips like sand.
    Slipping through my fingertips, sand.
    Stare into the drinking glass,
    Walking slow, faces pass,
Sipping through my fingertips, like sand.
Sipping through my fingertips, each time.
    Sipping through my fingertips, sand.
Can finally sing along now! It seems that the lyrics were changed up a bit from the original in a few places.

@@TSWislaK Ain't it amazing how music can do that?! For me it started with the band Dr. Dog. But that enlightening musical obsession started me on a path that has led me across genres and artists and has currently brought me to BJM and I'm psyched.
I walked out of a therapist's office after a session where I finally realized and accepted that shit had hit bottom for me. Thankfully I had just enough optimism to believe that there was only one direction I could reasonably go from there -- up -- but it was going to take some hard work for which I didn't feel strong enough and courage that I didn't think I had. Then I'm sitting in my car and just started humming the one Dr. Dog song I already knew, and that was it. I found a playlist of them, put it on, drove home, and I couldn't believe how validating and empowering their music was. It lit the fire that got me rolling and years later I'm still climbing, but through good and bad, I'm so thankful I have great music.

There really is nothing quite like BJTM, the feeling and emotion this song is played with by them absolutely shines through and massages your soul.
I’m sad to say I only discovered the band existed a couple of years ago so I’m late to the party, but I’m telling you, this music heals you from within. Beautiful…

This is a really cool and faithfully contemporary take on the original from the demo cassette! I am really feeling Tess' vocals on this, and the lesser emphasis on the shoegaze element, and more so towards the psych direction instead.

When I listen to this song I feel like I'm blasting off into something I can't describe. 10 years ago I would listen to this song ritualistically, every morning on my drive to the apiary I worked at. I'd hear the song and imagine pushing the pedal to the metal until I broke spacetime. Here now, I listen to the song and the same feeling arises. There is a mysterious, almost mystical quality to this sound that I love. Especially the original, even though I love this version almost as much.

    Broken glass in every tree

Slipping through my fingertips, like sand

    Stare into the drinking glass
    Walking slow, faces pass

Its a solid tune like most are, but i don't hear anything original. This one is a mix of Mazzy Star on Vocals. The Cure circa (1990-1991) upfront and The Edge ( 1982-1983) whaling in the background and a pretty basic bass riff ..The first couple times i heard it it was pretty simple to figure where they got the influences for on this track..still rocks though.

This is great as it is I think Anton. The super cool thing about your work for me is that I only discovered it last year and I'm still finding tracks I've never heard which resonate with me and I just 'get'. Got a bit freaky on 3 lsd tabs a few years ago which altered my perception. Of any new bands I discover or get recommended, BJM stands out with tracks like this. I have the same satisfaction also from bowie tracks I've never heard such as "slip away" from "Heathern". BJM is an inspiration. Thanks.
