OH, I had to stop the video to comment: I did a round braid when I got my dual purpose disc and as I got further in, the side cords turned out to have been used up faster than the main body ones. I thought I might have braided incorrectly but I am so happy to have this video from you that starts off by focusing on how certain cords need to be longer than the others. Looking forward to putting this into process. Thank you.
I wish you had used the same colors for the example as for the demonstration, and indicated where on your website we could find your written instructions. I have found all other videos extremely helpful.
love your videos! Thanks a lot for a very clear explanation, going to try making one right away! btw, would love to see how to arrange strings for different patterns but for this same braiding technic (I hope I am explaining myself well)
It looks like the chords position in the top and bottom rows determines what line they're in. If you wanted to get something like the fade shown you'd arrange the colors in the fade in the notches; putting dark green in 4&14, yellow in 7&17, and transitions inbetween. Same with the rainbow one, putting them in rainbow order from left to right on the top and bottom rows will give you the rainbow stripes.
blackkeys79 - For the pink and black put 2 black, 2 pink, 2 black along the top and bottom and black on the sides. The rainbow one also has black on the sides and put one of each colour along the top and the bottom.
I would like to learn flat braid to make bookmarks. Of course, the thread needs to be thinner so as to not harm the book. Can you advise me which cord is good to buy for that purpose? Thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial and providing several videos that I will have to check out. I’m doing this pattern now during a drive. It’s a nice pattern. I haven’t searched through your videos yet, but can beads be added to this pattern? I want to make some jewelry out of different cordage types and sizes and be able to incorporate a few beads into a pattern. Not looking to completely seed bead it, but show off the cord patterns and add a stone, crystal, etc..into it. With this, I’m thinking a seed bead type might be possible on the edges? Maybe not. Do you recommend any groups or forums where ideas and patterns are exchanged? Thank you again. 😊
if I'm understanding it right you just have your rainbow chords lined up in order on the top and bottom (having red in 3&13, orange in 4&14, yellow in 5&15, etc), follow the pattern the same way as shown and it should work out fine. Edit: clarification on placement

It's like any other weave, the verticals forming the weft are less important for tension than the horizontals forming the warp.
Very true!

Meters don’t translate to feet if you’re going to send this over the pond give both measurements
Thank you for the constructive comment.
Please use inches instead of cm or meters.
Thanks for the suggestion. In future videos I will be using both inches and cm.
