ASTERIX AND OBELIX: MANSION OF THE GODS is the animation movie by Louis Clichy.

Asterix, Obelix and Getafix tried a deluge of rain, loud chiseling, and putrid stench before they got to the nuclear option: Cacofonix hopped up on Magic Potion.
I would say that they should've just gone with Cacofonix singing in the first place, but I guess they wanted to spare the Roman citizens' eardrums of the singing that makes angels weep
Using cacofonix is a warcrime so brutal, they couldn’t show it in he movie.
Cacofonix would be a reggaeton star in the 21st century
Considering the comics, Cacofonix would have also caused a down pour while "singing".
Rome's million-strong population was largely housed in _extremely_ cramped, unsanitary apartments whose only saving grace was that they were basically free to live in. No wonder these people, even though they're largely the more affluent types, think that anything would be an improvement.

Yep. Anyone in Rome who was remotely wealthy would have a second home in the countryside. Rome got unbearable in the summer, many records show the smell was terrible.

after listening to documentaries about Rome, I find it a nice touch when Roman immigrants start trading with the Gaul from a historical point as Roman merchants did do business with with neighboring tribes while not in a state of war.

I do hope you post another clip from mansions of the gods. I particularly loved the clips where the romans go on strike. as well as the village siege and final battle.

This is the uk dub, the American dub stands out better for this movie.
Yeah, to be perfectly honest, the only actors in this dub that I do like are Nick Frost and Matt Berry. Personally I don't see why they even decided redubbing them to begin with

I think they arent talking about Britanny but Bretagne.
Britanny is actually a region in France (and thus in Gaul, kind of), not to be confused with Great Britain, which is the one you're probably thinking of.

I'm watching wondering when this was made because it reminds me a lot of recent events with a bunch of people moving into an area against the wishes of the people because the gov isn't willing to say no and remove them by force.
when exaclty ? that as always happened in human history.
Also, most gov don't refuse them because it's cheap labor that doesn't complain and pay more taxes than the average citizen with less benefits, ofc they like that.

Why do they sound sooo British?
There's two English versions. One that was dubbed in the UK and another for the US. Same goes for the original comics actually. The ones I grew up with had some very British mannerisms.

@@riploljustforfu9929 Hah, so while the Gauls had 1970s British mannerisms, the Britons in Asterix in Britain had very stereotypical 1920s-1940s mannerisms combined with largely English stereotypes. Saying things like 'Good show', 'old boy', always talking about the weather and drinking 'hot water with a spot of milk' because tea hadn't come to Britain yet.
