    Yes, Walt occupied the office located in the Northwest corner of the third floor of what was then The Animation Building. But his brother occupied it after his death, and his nephew Roy E Disney (who saved the company twice) occupied it when he took over as the head of the animation division in 1988 until his passing in 2009.
    But this is a recreation of their studio on Hyperion, NOT Burbank. This is the time when they were always struggling for money. If I had to guess, that light is for Roy Sr. who always somehow found the money to keep the studio lights on.

      After Walt died, Ron Miller, his son in law, used that as his office. Roy E. Disney took over as head of Animation in 1984, after Miller was terminated.

      I'm 38 (born in 85) and hadn't been there since I was a kid living in Ventura, probably 6 or 7 years old. My Mom used to take me and my older Brother at least 10 times a year because we had season passes. We ended up moving up to Northern California and I was was finally able to take my kids and wife to Disneyland/DCA for the 1st time back in 2017 and I too was blown away thinking about how I was standing where we used to park for Disneyland. It was hard to wrap my mind around it. Lol

    Hi Chris
    That building looks a lot more like the original Walt Disney Studio on Hyperion. Theres a photo on Google of a building on the south side of the lot that had the same awnings and window spacing. Plus, that is the studio that he worked at in the 1940s.

      I bet him being a chain-smoker probably played a role as well. I recall in Saving Mr. Banks, they did allow Tom Hanks to put out a cigarette, but never showed him smoking on camera. It wasn't as taboo right after WWI, but now is far less desirable.

    • @jtm726
      @jtm726 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I remember seeing that Walt Disney had the Air conditioner installed not out of concern for the Animators, and other employees working there, but he put it there to protect the Artwork or something like that. But the animators benefited from that too.

      All of the windows in the Animation Building were installed fixed (shut). Walt was sleeping overnight there, when the building in the newly constructed building. When the A/C shutoff during the night, he felt as if he was suffocating, breaking a window. His office windows were made operational (able to open) right after that.

    Since they have a light always on in both Disneyland and DCA, I wonder if they have the same thing in the other Disney parks around the world?

    You are talking about the old "Ink and Paint" Building at 500 S Buena Vista on Mickey Drive for the design. Roy was on the board for that build and the translation to CA ADV seemed to be the same.

    3:03 I knew about this "secret" 20 years ago.
    The building is a replica (with force-perspective, of course) of one of Walt's first studios when he and Roy came to California, and that office was Walt's.
