NTV PANORAMA: Significance of changes in the UPDF command structure

he UPDF’s Gen David Sejusa could soon retire from the force following an announcement from the army this week. However, army deputy spokesperson. Lt Col. Deo Akiiki reveals that the Commander-in-Chief must give his consent before Sejusa and 16 other senior officers are given the green light to leave. And so, Panorama tonight reveals the changes in command and structure of the UPDF with a younger cadre of army officers taking over from their bush war predecessors.

Some MP's have nothing positive to say. Are these men colonialist or a Ugandans, because if they are they are wasting their Ugandan skin and blood. Does this guy have no self-respect. Instead of celebrating the work of these soldiers in defending Uganda like would be the reaction in any other country towards their soldiers who lay their lives on the line for them, these fools are trying to score political points for their own selfish agenda. They are an embarrassment to Ugandan's and would in any other country lose their jobs in the political parties they represent. The fact they don't lose their jobs says a lot about the political parties they represent who do not demand they resign or sack them. They are insulting, not only the soldiers, the Uganda and the Ugandan people by their comments at such a time when heroes should be being thanked and celebrated. Disgraceful behaviour. Retirement should not be an issue with proper guidelines. Every officer should know when they will retire. When an officer attains a certain age, retirement is automatic. Officers serving at any rank for so many years, another automatic retirement. Retirement done in this way is essential for lower level officers to be able to move up the ranks without any delays.
