We came from Los Angeles to see it Saturday night. Our group included a wizened 75-year-old stage actor who said, "extraordinary" and a ten-year-old Black kid who said Ragtime is now his favorite show ever -- surpassing The Music Man from two seasons ago. Every moment was magical -- including the chilling last note.
I was fortunate to see it on Nov. 3rd, and in my 42 years of life and many, many theatre experiences here and across the pond, it was, by far, the most moving. Not just because of the times in which we live, but because every single cast member made me feel like they 200% wholeheartedly were emotionally and spiritually invested in the story they were telling. The amount of gratitude I have for NYCC continuing to release footage all week, which has undoubtedly helped many of us during a very hard week of grief and despair, is hard to put into words.
I was blown away at Saturday night’s performance. I hope this gets a Broadway transfer and a national tour. So glad I was finally able to see this wonderful show.
This needs to transfer!!! And preferably with most of the same cast. Caissie Levy has been lights out as Mother, Brandon Uranowitz is a natural as Tateh! (I'm so surprised Nichelle Lewis was cast as Sarah, because she too is an absolute natural at this role). And these fresh orchestrations, wow. God, what a production this is - thank you so so much for posting this!
I'm gonna be honest, that and the sudden caesura (pause) on the last "wheels of a-" gave me chills as well! (Especially the crescendo in the orchestra.)
@@vincentgunn203 I’d say the exact opposite - it's fresh, chilling, and the final few measures are less over the top / in-your-face than the original orchestrations, which I will totally agree are unrivalled. Not to mention we need this musical right now.
Yes, it was a magnificent concert. Please understand you are violating all union rules regarding recording devices in the theatre. If you support Emma Goldman, then you should honor the rules. Buy a ticket folks, support the arts.
Seeing a lot of people upset at this ending. This one has grown on me, and though I too prefer the original orchestrations of the finale (save the last few bars which I find a little too in-your-face and over the top), I love a more climactic ending that tugs at the heartstrings.
Was there Saturday night and I can honestly say it was one of the most incredible theatre experiences I’ve ever had.
And most certainly a message we will need.

Community actor or professional?

Please transfer to Broadway. So many more people NEED to see, hear and experience this production.

Oh my god! The ensemble's last note! I'll never forget that for as long as I live!

@@vincentgunn203 I have to disagree. This is way better. I'd love to have that.
I was there for this and I was blown away.
What a wonderful, heart-warming story considering what just transpired in the USA this past week. There is still hope.
Of course there is!
Was there opening night - AMAZING. So powerful with a great cast. Hope it goes back on Broadway
Thanks for the video. I live in Australia so watching just this bit is wonderful.
The entire cast was absolutely brilliant. Sadly Nichelle wasn’t there for the performance I saw, but the replacement Sarah was just amazing!!!
Sadly the 'Our Gang' reference is mostly lost on the audience nowadays. On Wednesday, almost no one got it.
They need to bring out a tv screen and show our gang/the little rascels to show the actual clip of the movie.
Yeah Matthew Lamb!! Did a great job here and at Signature Theatre!
Thank you thank you thank you
The show is closed now. Where are my full Slime Tutorials. PLEASE!!
3:20
3:28 I like the new change.
Same! I find it really irritating that people are complaining about this, but as a Ragtime diehard, I find it very much appropriate and heart-tugging.
Why am I crying. Tateh's line about promise of America after '24 election just made me throw up a little bit.
We elected a convicted felon before we elected a woman.
Do you have full? Thanks for posting ❤
Unfortunately no

This is the only short clip I took.
My friend died so I had to sell my ticket! Thanks for posting! Sad to miss this show!
I'm sorry about your friend.
Sorry for your loss.

Umm..no. please change the ending note to the one from the original Broadway production like right now

I think the change makes the song sooo much more impactful (with consideration for the current political climate)
