I am 75yrs old and I was riding up until 71yrs old when I retired from work I sold my Harley because it was just too heavy for me to handle anymore, then time passed and I would look out from my porch and watch beautiful sunny days just pass by day after day, I did this for 3 yrs and then one day I was browsing the internet and I saw an Indian Scout 60 and when I saw the spec's and how low it was! I said hell I can ride that Bike. so the next day I told my wife to get ready because we were going to see a motorcycle. when we got to the dealer and I saw my new Dream Bike, I sat on it and it felt so easy to get off of the side stand and the seat height was just perfect for my short legs, I told my wife, honey this is going home with us. I am now 75yrs old and I still exercise to stay in good riding condition, my best days are when I am on my Scout 60. so Congratulations to you Sir, and many Happy Trails. I will ride into my last sunset the Lord willing. Indian Motorcycle is an outstanding Motorcycle. so riders! don't give up your passion just yet, unless it's a health issue because Indian makes very light and easy-to-handle motorcycles and great engines on these Bikes.

@@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff Definitely agree with you on the sentiment, lol it was corny marketing. But owning a chief dark horse that started at just $1k under the sport, I'm now having to shell out $2k just to upgrade the brakes - the same brakes that come standard on the sport chief. These single disc brakes that came stock on my chief (670lb wet) have given me way too many scares, they're no good in traffic. No exaggeration, it's actually dangerous to drive in South Florida's bumper to bumper traffic because when aggressive drivers cut you off you can't stop on the dime like you can most other bikes. I've learned to double my distance when riding my chief. That's my only complaint with the bike though, other than the stock seat. Everything else is ideal - such a wonderful machine. I plan to upgrade those two things soon and then I'll have zero complaints lol.

It looks to me like you made the perfect choice for YOU. I own a Victory Vision Tour, it fits me and my riding style. Sometimes my mind wanders and I think about another motorcycle, but when I test them out they fall short one way or another. Then I sit back on my Victory and I start smiling again. It is an extension of me! I am 68 years old 6'5" tall and weigh about 270 lbs. I also miraculously survived stage 4 liver cancer. I bought my bike 6 months after my scans were clear. I regained my power and stamina riding that behemoth. It is a blessing to just be able to travel with it. Enjoy your new ride and be safe. Keep up the good work and God Bless!

Your thought process on your next bike is similar to mine. I'm 64 and have been riding since I was 19. I live in the South East of the United States which means I am mostly surrounded by Harleys. My current rides are a 2003 BMW 1150 RT and a 2021 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT. All of my bikes have been Japanese or German. I've never owned a cruiser despite their ubiquity in my country. But I am interested in the recently announced Indian Sport Chief. You're right about the perfect bike being more of an ideal than a reality. The best decision one can make is when you're honest with yourself about the ride you do and the compromises you're willing to accept.

I recently went through the same soul searching exercise with my 2021 Gold Wing Tour 6 speed. It was excellent in every way,but didn't excite me. I ended up trading it for a 2021 Indian Chieftain Limited in Black. I rode 6 hours each way to make the trade and it was worth it. While the Wing was the perfect gentleman riding down, the Chieftain was satsisfing to the soul on the way back. I look at the Chieftain and feel satisfied inside. Something that never happened with the Gold Wing. Enjoy your new bike when it comes in!

I find it hilarious that at 5:49 you had the exact same reaction that I had. I actually put a $500 deposit on my chief having never test driven it, bold move I know, but it's a standard cruiser that looks good and has the right tech, what more confirmation did I really need? Anyway, a month into having put that deposit so that the factory would have it made and shipped to my dealer, my dealer received a SCL in their inventory, so I decided to check it out. It felt awful, unlike anything I had imagined my new chief to be. I kid you not, I removed my deposit after test riding that. Luckily my dealer still reserved the bike for me once it arrived and I was able to test ride it and purchase it right then. It was a significant difference. I have a stealth grey chief dark horse just like the one in your video - and I too still have that silly grin on my face whenever my stage 2 cams kick in :D

Man, when I saw the classic Kawi Z900RS I almost forgot about all my Harleys. Gawd, does that style take me back!
I hope your bike comes soon, even if it isn't a Harley ;)
My perfect bike is the KT-ley 390 Ultra Lim-aventure. For eating up miles of the western U.S. and then taking a hard left up a dusty single track mountain road, it's the best.

It tears up the Utah canyons but I've been wanting to get a Chief DH Bobber for some longer rides down to Arizona/New Mexico. Then Indian went & made the Sport Chief which kind of expedited my plans with all the improvements. I've followed you for a while, even briefly met at a Vulcan ride day in Ballarat last year or the year before near the lake. Since then sold the Vulcan and purchased a 10 year old Harley - test road the chief dark horse in Geelong had a lot going for it however the 10 year old Harley was a few grand less and with spades of character. The dark horse was certainly a power house

      @BikesILike  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey! How do you find the Harley compared to the Vulcan? I could never get my Vaquero tuned just right. Sent the ECU to Ivan's for remapping and still not ideal. That's the first thing I noticed when riding Harley's and Indians, they have the fuelling much better out of the box. In my opinion. Which model Harley did you buy?

Right on point! We've all been guilty of spending too much time using our brains checking and crosschecking which bike will present itself as a Unicorn when what we should be doing is experiencing which bike brings us the most intrinsic pleasure of riding... I recently ended up buying a Harley-Davidson Street Bob 114 which isn't too dissimilar to the Indian Chief. What my brain was telling me was totally antagonistic to my heart (and soul). Gone are the stereotypical notions I had of a "brand" and the stigmatised demographic of riders that chose them. I now can't stop riding once again and love every moment on the Street Bob. I love hearing that Milwaukee 8 come to life, as it sucks in the cold morning oxygen and spits out thunderous sounds of burnt gases. I love the way it places me deep into the frame, relaxed with arms relatively high. I love the way it pulls away from the lights, the way it steers and responds and the way it tracks around my favourite sweeping roads. I love its simplicity, its few mechanical components, the air cooled pushrod engine and the way it sits, parked at home or on location on its stand and captures the light, reflecting itself back to me... I wish you the same with the Indian and hope you love riding thousands of k's across our magnificent Australian landscapes. 🙂

Also, let me say, thank you. Here from the USA, I actually enjoy seeing the Austrilian, New Zealand and British motorcycle channels more than my actual motorcycle. I am so glad to be able to watch you guys review bikes on TH-cam, although I'm not exactly sure why you guys show up on my North American TH-cam feed, but I"m really glad it does. I've noticed American motorcycle riders have no appreciation for details, whatsoever. They are so numb and dull with their reviews, they only care about the latest technology and if something doesn't work quite right, they move on to the next motorcycle, with no regard for beauty or fit and finish, or how a bike makes them feel. For some reason, the old world riders from Australia, and also Britain, seem to have a much more refined taste in motorcycles, and it's so much more enjoyable to hear you speak about them. I would be lost without channels like this one, and comments like this one from Katsas.

Glad to hear/see you're passionate about motorcycling again. All you had to do was come to the realisation that your two wheeled appliance was moving your body, and not your soul. There are certain heritage brands out there that have these so called "intangibles" that can't be explained to some riders who feel/think only dependability, or peak HP at lowest price are the primary considerations. But we know, it's how the bike makes you feel when you're riding it that's the most important thing. :-) Better to feel cool and happy, than safe and sound. Nice purchase, enjoy it!!

2016 Indian Springfield owner here. My last big bike was a KZ900 back in late 70s. Won't go into the story but someone pulled out in front of me snapping my femur on impact. Totaled the bike and I did not ride again until years later. I started getting the itch to buy another bike 3 years ago, thinking I would get a Road King. After riding a Springfield, that was it, I bought it. Maybe not a fair fight as it already had stage 2 cams, TABs, HO filter, Dyna tunes etc. The thing I like about the Springfield is that the front-end rake is shorter, and it handles like a much smaller bike. It does not feel like an 820 lb. bike when you are on it. It is fast enough and very comfortable for longer rides.

Great video and I like very much your narration. Have seen two other of yours before got to this one. When I was all finished with bikes since ten years, the Super Chief found me just walking pass by the Indian dealer. They opened only 3 months ago and incidentally spotted an Indian parked outside the store. Went in to see around and walked out with the bike in my head. Happy owner now although the first ride home scared me to sh..t. You should have received yours by now since it is July already and hope you have The Fun!

This is such a good video, unreal narration and build up. I'd love to see you do a documentary explaining the history of Polaris and the purchase and new start to Indian motorcycles. In the US here, Polaris is the most popular 4 wheeler (ATV). My step dad had a Polaris ATV and I drove it for many years, and I could not believe how tough and reliable it was. The engine was bulletproof, it seemed like it had Honda levels of reliability. I've never heard of any issues with Polaris in general. The same can't be said for the Pan America which has had notoriously bad electronics.

Same thing happened to me. I was all set to buy a CB650R, with an agreed-upon price that I negotiated down $2,000 American dollars, but I told them I'd need a day to think it over. I went to a used bike dealership after remembering that they received a used Indian Chief, base model. I'd never ridden one, so I decided to test it out.
I... was... completely won over. I didn't care that it would cost me $4k more. I'd never felt so good on a bike. Called the other dealership to let them know I was passing on the offer, and put a deposit down for the '22 Indian Chief with the White Smoke color option (I, myself, love the matte color options). I've been on a number of long rides now, and I don't regret this very impractical decision.

I never thought I wold buy a black bike but in 2021 I bought a new Springfield Darkhorse and have got to love it.the matt black has definately grown on me and the power, well say no more!!. This is the same search I’m currently going through. I’ve had 12 bikes and chose to start over with an Enfield 350. It’s everything I wanted it to be, in a motorcycle. But now I want something that actually has speed and doesn’t mind being at freeway speeds for long periods of time. I still want something different to what I’ve had. My Rebel 1100 was close. A Chief Sport or Low Rider S could be right for me. Also considering a 1250 BMW, basically anything without a chain drive.

Getting nearly 400 miles to a tank. And my interceptor 650. Giving me the same feeling but at a higher speed. Two new bike at a price less than 12k.
