She definetly isn't out of trouble or above suspicion as a matter of fact she is the lone point on which law enforcement can focus all they're wrath and that's exactly what they do and it's very true to life. Like Saul pointed out with Walt and Pinkman both missing and two federal agents missing presumed dead they are going after Skyler with everything they have the phone call gave her a leg to stand on and evidence of abuse which maybe she convinces a jury she was simply a terrified woman whose world turned upside down when she discovered her husband was involved in the drug trade and she had no choice but to obey him and not set him off. She couldn't go to police because she has no proof and is far to afraid to cross him anyhow as she could say he told her some of the things he's done and killing her would be childs play for him and she truly feared he would kill her and the kids before he died of cancer because he told her he was going to.

TBF Walt was extremely abusive, violent and pretty much evil earlier in the episode. Sending Jesse to his death and completely scaring and hurting his family. I also thought at first that he maybe showed the true colors of his abusive and criminal personality. Also there might be bits and pieces in the phone call that do expreess some of his real frustrations with Skylar.

    • @damianwilson7526

I don't think so. There is a scene where Walt goes to change Holly in a bathroom and he realises how wrong it is to keep her with him. I'm not 100% sure if it is before or after this scene, but if it was before then he definitely didn't plan this, more that he took Holly out of anger before realising he had to give her back, with the opportunity to help Skyler as well.

@@christianarmstrong4346 I am not sure. When he fights with his family and he sees Jr. and Skylar sitting on the floor and crying and be scared of him, he realizes that he has ruined his family. So I could see him making a plan to at least get Skylar free but at the same time he still seemed extremely angry and the way he storms off with Holly and the way he pushes Skylar's car away seem pretty much like actions of impulse.
Also I am not sure he would be willing to just take his Baby with him when he might get chaased by the police, if his actions were ment to be a smart plan to protect his family. It feels more like an impuslive thing.

The thing I love about this scene is that its simultaneously orchestrated and authentic. In the first half he got to tell Skylar how he really felt while playing to the purpose of the call, it's great. He meant every word he said, even though he left some parts out while playing others up for obvious reasons, i.e. he didn't want Hank to die, but Hank did cross him and did end up dead for it.

If you watch carefully he also was able to express some authentic feelings to Hank and communicate messages he wasn't able to otherwise explicitly say. Sure the entire thing is fabricated, and it's there to serve and orchestrative and manipulative purpose, but the subtext of it says something real. That's what I love about these scenes.
