The ASTOUNDING AMERICAN HISTORY in MOROCCO They Don’t Teach Us 🇺🇸🇲🇦

  • Did you know The United States' oldest alliance with a foreign nation is with Morocco? I went to Tangier, Morocco's most European city looking to learn about some of America's oldest known history. Morocco was the first country to recognize the United States as a sovereign nation in 1777. While looking for that history, the video took an unexpected turn.

Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 TH-cam videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

Helping support my videos on Patreon will allow me to travel to more far off places as ad revenue is too unpredictable. More importantly, I can use this money to help give back to locals who need the money more than me while also creating more interesting and engaging content! Thanks for all the support!

You right but something when you are somewhere, and people ask you where are you from or do you need help every 2 min, it’s feels weird, I am Moroccan who leave in USA California for 25 years, here people love there privacy, they don’t like to be bothered every minute specially when they are in new places and discovering and enjoying a new place and experience . I think it just différente mortalité, Moroccan: more social life, like to talk, more inviting, relax not busy…. American: more private people, some of them say Hi, they don’t like to talk a lot, and they are all running around busy working, they don’t have time to social with you, ALL MONEY MONEYYYYYYY.

Morocco is also the first country to recognize America as an independent country, that was in 1777, and more than that, we have the longest and oldest trade agreement in force effect so far. ... let me correct you one thing, you apparently like exploring and history too, you said it feels like Andalusia. Andalusia belonged to the Moors which today refers to the Moroccans (at least 80% of the Moors were Moroccans and the rest was a mix of other maghreb countries) it is rather the other way around, once you are in Andalusia you feel like you are in Morocco ;) I would say take a closer look, then you will see that the architecture is 100% Moroccan, which is in many Andalusian cities.

Thanks for the video; I really enjoyed the historical insights. On a different note, it's disheartening to see some Moroccan men persistently bothering you. It reflects a broader need for a mindset shift. Personally, I've experienced similar frustrations, even at the airport. Despite being Moroccan myself, the incessant approaches for taxis in the airport when getting to visit my family have been a horrid experience every time, I just don't want to imagine being a foreigner. Having traveled to many countries, I can honestly say I've never faced such persistent encounters, especially in places like Jemaa el Fna in Marrakech. It's a situation that really needs to be addressed. I always say it: Education, Education, Education ... and we lack it a lot (Sorry for the rant 😅)

A lot of genuine encounters there. I love Tangier for the many things it offers, from history to amazing attractions. I really get annoyed by the hustlers, even though there are not a lot of them and I understand their economic hardships now. I hope this decreases. As a Moroccan, I just firmly turn down offers or avoid some very touristic parts of the city where the hustlers are located. HOWEVER, the same problem is everywhere. As a Moroccan in the US, I am constantly targeted by annoying and time-consuming ads online. There is nothing compared to the digital hustlers in the US! But these are just distractions, and one has to learn how to navigate these things to enjoy the real experience. Good stuff @AdventureElliot!

This video is mostly a walking tour through Tangier while it touches only briefly on the subject of the American legation and the early diplomatic relationship between Morocco and the U.S.

Well it was very interesting to watch this episode about the city I've been in , you were telling here a great history !! But the way all these people jumping on you oh it is frustrating
I know what I'am talking about because me myself walking around in that city and all man literally telling you something, coming ti say hi , inviting somewhere .... I didn't feel safe there! So girls, travel only to this city with friends, boyfriends, etc

I know it's stressful but don't panic , even I'm moroccan from tangier whenever I pass from there they do the same thing with me lol . Just say big NO & they would stop (not trying to defend them but it was due to lockdown .... reality hustlers are everywhere) still I wish they could do better . Saludos

Something that really annoys me about the locals (people who want to make money) that keep coming through all the time after you say you're not interested. This is so irritating, I do understand that it is their hustle to put food on the table, but this continues in every corner of the street, whether it's a restaurant that owns it, or someone who sells tissues to the normal vendors. This really needs to change, hopefully the Ministry of Tourism will do something about this...I say this as being Moroccan. In Marrakesh it's even worse I understand...
