Well something got horribly wrong with my tank. i woke up today with murky water and out of the roof nitrite in my GUPPY tank. Turns out, le cat pissed in it... I wish i was joking, that little goblin used to sleep on it, now it's his litter box.

We've had our little pea puffer for about six months. We can confirm that it regularly sleeps on a leaf nightly. Highly interactive with people, and adorably curious.
Have a 20 long well planted ecosystem tank. My betta passed a few weeks ago was sad but my African dwarf frogs started mating. Have tons of eggs and tadpoles rn. I’m so excited. Had to share 😊

Inspired by this channel just started my first tank and quickly realized that some of these setups I've been admiring are actually several hundred dollars worth of flex 😶.
The local zoo is free for residents on Monday, and I'm most excited for the "Rainforest" conservatory. Because they have habitat enclosures with fish. Like a big rainbow fish tank. And ofc capybaras. Oh it's also my 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend so I'm excited to go with him too. And show him the fish of course.
what would i do with a tank of that dimention in the first video? Palidarium with banded archerfish! you could really see them hunting in that size of tank!
Favourite sea food? Right now I'm between salmon (partial sea fish) and 'Hollandse Nieuwe', which is salted herring. I always eat my salted herring with onions. I always fry my salmon filets first skin down to get that crispy.
8:59 Thats def a freshwater mite. I would get those out of there and do a water change. Tho I could be wrong because that image doesnt actually show much aside from a blob with legs which is what a mite looks like honestly.
My goldfish did fine with plants. Had a wall of anacharis across the back, anubias covering driftwood, and a Madagascar lace for the focal point. The goldfish were great. I had to return a couple mystery snails. They ignored the anacharis, that I purchased for them to eat, and focused on the anubias.
Shrimpfish can be kept in captivity. I traveled across Singapore, there they have shrimp fish in their aquarium called Sentosa. Absolutely beautiful place, tickets are expensive but they're worth it!
My first fish was a blue acara that I was taking care of for my brother while he was moving, then he didn't want it back. I knew it was a cichlid, but I didn't know there were so many different cichlids from different parts of the world, or that they didn't all need more alkaline water parameters. It kind of blew my mind to find out that even tilapia are cichlids. lol
These people with their first tanks blow me away! I wish I had as much info about tanks when I started. FFT would have saved me so much failure lol. I would say my favorite seafood growing up was shark. It was available at the local grocery store butcher growing up, it is amazing. Similar flavor to other sport fish. I agree with crab over lobster. Rock cod and ling cod are very good. My favorite seafood dish I had was a King fish we caught sailing between St. Lucia and St. Vincent. It was cooked up soooo good. mmmm.

The big main fireworks display in Ottawa tonight! (...to answer another important QOTW) I pretty much always go for fish n chips in restaurants where available, often while out to buy aquarium fish. Last time I went to Ottawa for fish was the first time I went to a Red Lobster.

4:48 if the betta is chill I’d go for a few or ten of those dwarf shrimp that are the same kind as cherry shrimp but whatever colour or patterns you like, I think blue or yellow or green would look harmonious in the setup but everyone has different taste so go with whatever you think is pretty.
I'm just speaking for my two local Petco stores. The people who actually work on the fish area seem to be pretty knowledgeable and good. Actually one of them told me about CO2 and led me down the road to finding MJ aquascaping and starting my journey. PetSmart around me however is a crap show.
I have a half of a an 800 gallon water tank (yes the ones u use on houses) as a pond outside my house. I made a DIY filter out of a big plastic container and that works pretty well. Why am I saying this? BECASE IT WAS AT 5:45 IN THIS VIDEO THAT I REMEMBERED I PUT THE FILTER TO DRAIN THE TANK FOR A WATER CHANGE. Needless to say my tank was indeed drained, but a bit more than i wanted it to be. My fish almost died. Thankfully I promptly filled it back up and they are fine now. For those wondering, I have about 15 peacock cichlids in there. The tank is indeed about 400 gallons, but it's not that much space with the different cave systems I've built and they don't fight (thank the heavens for that).
I would love to have some tardigrades in my tank. So cool! My angels ate all my nematodes so something else besides snails would be welcome. QOTW. My favorite seafood is probably shrimp. I do like everything else but octopus as it is like eating an eraser. There are not as many fresh options in North Dakota but when I lived in coastal Virginia, sea food was everywhere.

You can add discus to the list off fish that are cichlids without people realising it. A thing that blew my mind was that there are 3 species off angelfish. I did know about scalare and altums but only recently discovered the existance off leopoldi.
The little mystery guy looks like it could be a baby scud based on size, color, and general body shape. I don’t know much ‘bout scuds. It certainly is not a tardigrade though!
The only thing worse than the huge red tail catfish is if they were to put labyrinth fish in there like Gouramis and lung fish that would have to swim up 8 ft to get a gulp of air. Those fish would eventually die from slowly being deprived of oxygen.
QOTW: scallops, but only when they don't taste of that bitter preservative. And I live in a desert. 😭 My cats love dried minnows, and it feels awkward to feed them those in front of my identically-sized medaka.

in all of honesty the best seafood for me is easily mussels and that one fish in sushi restaurants served whole fried. mussels are really tasty when doing that japanese steam thing, can’t remember what it is, got it from kimagure cook. that one fish is whole and fried to perfection. oh and they are full of eggs so they are usually like shrimp, “berried.” you can even eat their spinal cords, and this fish hits hard with that japanese mayo. all of the fish are usually females which were ready to spawn their eggs and the absurd amount of eggs inside them is just way too many to count. probably 1 million eggs each 1cm cut down the fish if you cut it
QOTW: I don’t eat fish because I simply have to much empathy for them. But seafood like Crustaceans and cephalopods count as one of my favorite dishes.
2:07 - great first aquascape... except the fully-submerged Ribbon Plants, which aren't true aquatic plants and will eventually rot and foul the water if left submerged like that. Buried Rhizomes on java fern = rip... Seashells in freshwater aqwuarium = bad idea, unless water is extra soft and needed the extra minerals leeching into it (but there's better ways of adding minerals to soft water for aquariums - actual aquarium additive products exist for that).

Crab. And Snow crab > King crab. Less meat, sure, but that meat is sweeter and more tender texture. Cant go wrong with a nice smoked salmon filet with lemon dill sauce, always good. Some asparagus and rice on the side... Now I'm hungry 🤤
I had a petco employee tell me the betta's fins looked like that because it was exotic (crowntail) and he was hiding from my hand so that's why he wasn't swimming up. It was fin rot and swim bladder disease. 💀 Just nodded my head and bought him out of pity. He's doing a lot better now :)
i currently have my first tank its a 50 gal 3 betta sorority with 3 guppies and 2 snails it has plenty of hides its substrate is dirt water blocked encapsulated in sand with 2 plants growing out of the top . my question is what aquatic plants should i add? i dont want a carpet plant. oh and ive had this setup for about 5 months no problem.
I get that some people make huge tanks because they want to have huge fish, but I'm still surprised i dont see more huge tanks with just tons of small fish
3:40 I can't tell which slider that is either- the head is too far retracted to see the red pattern. I would guess either RES or cumberland slider based on the head shape... There is a floating dock at the back of that tank, its hidden by the hard water buildup on the glass. The way it's positioned suggests the tank was intended to be kept full but the owner is lagging behind on maintenance. I'm sure a commenter behind me who deserves a bio degree in reptile studies will know based on the shape of the shell or the skin patterns so if that commenter is you, feel free to correct me :}

idk why but i got a betta it was in a perfectly cycled 15 gallon it was eating as soon as i got him and was active but then he started hiding more and more stopped eating then died i dont know what i did wrong (all the water conditions were perfect)

Australian salon fried in a pan for 15 minutes with herbs and butter with a squeeze of lemon juice is my favourite sae food. Ps great video 👍

Seashells in freshwater aqwuarium = bad idea, unless water is extra soft and needed the extra minerals leeching into it (but there's better ways of adding minerals to soft water for aquariums - actual aquarium additive products exist for that).

QOTW: I think that I like all seafood, except salmon roe and raw squid. Favorites are crab, shrimp, lobster.
Also, I feel like a noob compared to these people that have beautiful tanks and it's their first tank. Like, bruh, I've been doing this for like 20 years and I suck at planted tanks... But I also have low tech setups, so no CO2, but good lights and super nutrient dense substrate. Still, it's kinda defeating lol
fill that tank with a vertical scape (tons of anubias monstera), kuhli loaches, and 1000s galaxy rasboras!!

Crab. And Snow crab > King crab. Less meat, sure, but that meat is sweeter and more tender texture. Cant go wrong with a nice smoked salmon filet with lemon dill sauce, always good. Some asparagus and rice on the side... Now I'm hungry 🤤
My favourite seafood is probably tempura shrimp or tempura squid and my friends always point out I have shrimp... I don't eat tempura cherry shrimp...
I had a petco employee tell me the betta's fins looked like that because it was exotic (crowntail) and he was hiding from my hand so that's why he wasn't swimming up. It was fin rot and swim bladder disease. 💀 Just nodded my head and bought him out of pity. He's doing a lot better now :)
i currently have my first tank its a 50 gal 3 betta sorority with 3 guppies and 2 snails it has plenty of hides its substrate is dirt water blocked encapsulated in sand with 2 plants growing out of the top . my question is what aquatic plants should i add? i dont want a carpet plant. oh and ive had this setup for about 5 months no problem.

Being from the very deep south, that would be crawfish, fried catfish, and grilled shrimp in that order!
3:40 I can't tell which slider that is either- the head is too far retracted to see the red pattern. I would guess either RES or cumberland slider based on the head shape... There is a floating dock at the back of that tank, its hidden by the hard water buildup on the glass. The way it's positioned suggests the tank was intended to be kept full but the owner is lagging behind on maintenance. I'm sure a commenter behind me who deserves a bio degree in reptile studies will know based on the shape of the shell or the skin patterns so if that commenter is you, feel free to correct me :}

idk why but i got a betta it was in a perfectly cycled 15 gallon it was eating as soon as i got him and was active but then he started hiding more and more stopped eating then died i dont know what i did wrong (all the water conditions were perfect)
