    I woke up thinking about the trees here. We just moved here and have apple and pear trees. We've never had trees but really want these to produce. We know NOTHING about pruning and by the looks of them, last property owner didn't either. Thanks for the vud

      You're welcome. Glad the information was helpful. When I moved here, I had to rehab some trees the previous owner neglected too.

    Good video, still trying to understand how and what to prune on taller fruit trees, thank you.

    Thank you for sharing this information with us, it's definitely very helpful for those of us who know nothing about pruning trees. Many blessings to you and your family. Much love and respect from Utah

    How do we care and protect fruit trees when freeze hits?

    • @CountryLivingExperience

      They need freezing temperatures for proper fruit production the next season.

    I'm in East Texas too. This winter has been odd and so warm that my peach tree is gone out of dormancy I guess because it has put on buds and flowers. It's been in the ground since fall of 2021 and last year I pruned off all the buds so it wouldn't make peaches. I was hoping to prune it soon and even cut the height down some, I don't know what to do now. Can you give some advice? Thanks so much!

      I would still prune it some but don't go overboard. Pruning at this time is still important. I am about to do that this week as well.

    Question when is the best time to prune fruit trees and how do you prune them to keep them small also do you prune all fruit trees the same way? If not I have a dwarf cherry tree van and a bing also a boysenberry tree I live in Springfield, Massachusetts!

      I have several fruit tree pruning videos that I linked within this video. They will give you more info. Also, I mentioned in this video that this is the proper time.

    Would painting fresh wounds before the sap flows be recommended?
    I remember long ago, people used to paint with a tar like substance. They said it sealed the wound against disease and insects.

    • @tomnelson3362
      @tomnelson3362 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      painting wounds is not good for your tree. Mich. State U. used to teach this but have since stopped.Your tree will heal up by itself. The tree will continue to grow and your paint or tar won't. It leaves a great place for fungus, bacteria and bugs to enter. Prune with clean and sharp tools and you will do well.

      This is a long standing debate. I seal them to protect from disease.

    Alcohol?, …not a 20%-30% bleach solution?
    …. Just asking.
