    Love the TV and Movie History Cars: Miami Vice, KITT, Starsky and Hutch, Ghostbusters, Munsters Hearse Coach, A-Team, Mad Max, Monkees, and even the Scooby Doo Van. Got'ta Admit Herbie and Speed Racer Car stand out for me with fun great childhood memories.

    My favorite? Although I really liked the Monkees car, my favorite is the Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino. Something you could drive around in today and is still street legal and cool to drive. And a vehicle that a 60-something year old guy can still get in and out of without embarrassing himself.

    In 1980 I flew out to L.A.X. to visit my brother and to buy a car to bring back to Illinois. In one of the Auto Trader papers were a couple of cars of interest, one of which was a Starsky & Hutch car. I don't know which one it was as you said there were six or seven cars built for the show. It was a well known fact that they beat the living snot out of the cars. The particular car that was listed had black California plates that read: 20 CENT I believe? It was listed at $2600.00! What a screaming deal! Alas, I bought a RoadRunner from up in Valencia. Always wondered who ended up with that car?

    If that's the original mad max car the blower isn't the same. You clearly see the name on the movie car and it's missing on this one. Great video. These cars are amazing. Scooby-Doo doo impression, right on.

    • @boroboroae86
      @boroboroae86 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thecommodoredecker The interceptor in the museum is the real deal. It was poorly restored decades ago and that is why it has a lot of inaccurate parts on it. They only used 2 cars during shooting of mad max 1&2. The interceptor in the museum is the original one used in both movies. The second stunt interceptor which rolled over in The Road Warrior is currently in The Mad Max museum in Australia.

    • @MrROBDAWG2000
      @MrROBDAWG2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya on Mad Max the original car or the Main car seen on camera that Mel Gibson drove had a Fake Blower made of plastic.

    • @mikes6961
      @mikes6961 ปีที่แล้ว

      @MrROBDAWG2000 if it was, it still had the Weiand nameplate. It was real I believe, just not functional. You can't turn a blower on and off.

    • @boroboroae86
      @boroboroae86 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikes6961 yea it was a weiand case put on a metal structure on top of the engine and a small electric motor to make it spin with an on/off switch. The car in the museum currently has an inaccurate version on it. I guess the museum doesn’t really want to fork out the cash do give it a decent restoration.

      Most use to be in the cars of the stars. He sold a lot of the replicas (the James Dean porsche being one) to concentrate on screen used.
      The mad max falcon is the only screen used one, it was altered after mad max to the car you see in mad max 2.
      Also the KITTs... The t top was screen used and given to the Hoff after filming ended, and the convertible was te only full car made, the one you see converting is a shell on a trailer.
      I use to visit Peter Nelson museums often and got to know the history of the cars quite well.
      Ive even sat in the screen used Keaton batmobile!! BTW the batmissle car, where it stripes down is a mick up, in the film it was a scalled down miniature 😊

    The old Striped Tomato, the only car that can screech the tires on dirt, can sound as if it is accelerating through second and third gear not only that it's an automatic car but with the brake lights on. The greatest miracle of all was that after those landings front end heavy landings that would make the car buckle so bad that the hood would break the windshield, it would heal itself and drive away.

    I've been to this museum and if you take the guided tour you'll be able to sit in a few movie/tv car replicas. These are the 1060s Batmobile(the one in the middle in "The Batcave"), Back to the Future DeLorean, Ecto 1, Brian's Eclipse from The Fast and The Furious(1).
    Yes the "skinny Batmobile" from the Batman Returns alley scene is screen used. They only built one. I told the tour guide I was surprised they shot that scene with a full size "vehicle" and not a miniature. If I remember correctly out of the 2 "Keaton Batmobiles" the closed one is from Batman Returns and the open one is a replica

    Dean Jeffries created only 2 “1966” Chrysler Imperials for the TV show. George Barris did a later version of the TV car as well.
    1966 was the 1st year of the 440 motor replacing the 413 engine.

    Some of these quote unquote movie cars are replicas very well done but I don’t believe all these were actually movie car. The Gatlinburg bat mobile is not number 1. Barris sign it but he didn’t build it. Still very nice collection

      There are only 13 replica movie/tv cars in the collection. But even they have interesting back stories.
