    Can you please make a video for Firefly import install?

    This is so straight forward and clean
    Just one challenge I keep getting
    Error! Could not make "Nigerian Naira" the default currency. Please check the logs.
    What do I do in this case?

    Hey, I was expecting it to be hosted on actual website with reverse proxy in this tutorial but great tutorial so far!

    Nice and easy, but I cant get it running. I tried different approaches, CLI, docker-compose, another docker-host...etc. always the same:
    "No application encryption key has been specified"
    but it is. Any ideas?

      Yeah, you can grab the code from their GitHub and change it and build it as needed.

    hi.. I've a lot to learn on containerization.... so if firefly is containerized, while the mysql db is separate for persistent storage, is the apache webserver also outside? or is it also inside the container?

    • @Techdox
      @Techdox  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cool things about containerisation is that each application lives within its own container and that many containers make up a service

    how to do this step by step, for people who have no clue what a server or docker is, on windows

    • @Techdox
      @Techdox  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would first recommend first understanding the basics of docker and the fundamentals of a server, otherwise none of this will make sense :)

      @@Techdox In the video at 0:37 you said that you can install firefly as software, without using docker, but everything ive read so far is that I have to host my own server just to able to run a simple personal finance app

    • @Techdox
      @Techdox  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I mentioned software I meant you can installed the software components manually on the server without using Docker. docs.firefly-iii.org/firefly-iii/installation/self_hosted/.
      Since this is an opensource service and is made to be self-hosted, it is the endusers role to setup a fair bit more than your typical installation on Windows.

      @Spandex08 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Techdox Yes and you mentioned Yunohost and its very straightforward with that, but why would someone go through all the trouble of installing and setting up servers just to use a personal finance software when there are dozen more that have equal or better features.
      I am currently trying to install docker on win7 on a processor that doesn't support hyper v tech, just for the sake of it. just want to see this software and how it functions compared to others.

      @@Spandex08 That's true! One can buy Quicken, WizMoney, Ace Money, Money Spire etc with much less fuss. But I do like the look of Firefly III. My question is: how does one back up the server? And must you always keep the server plugged into the power source?

    Hey, thanks for the quick tutorial. I'm actually trying to follow you by installing on a RPi 4 with Raspberry Pi OS. But I can't get past the error " ERROR: no matching manifest for linux/arm/v7 in the manifest list entries " while trying to pull de mariadb image, after the docker-compose up command. How did you manage to circumvent it? Are you using a different MariaDB image than the original compose file suggests?
    I also tried to spin it up in an x64 server, and got stuck some steps later, the logs show that the app cannot authenticate while loggin into de DB. But the credentials are identical on both YML and .env file!
    Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

      @Techdox  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Sorry, I should have mentioned that to avoid these errors I used the 64bit version of Ubuntu for ARM. This has made it pretty smooth for these installs

      @@Techdox Does this mean that Firefly III wouldn't run on my Raspberry Pi OS based system? I still don't know much about containerisation, so I don't know if the underlying OS is the issue, or if it is possible to run a second OS within a container, to get Firefly III working. Or would you recommend that I just migrate now to the 64bit version of Ubuntu for ARM as my primary OS on the Raspberry Pi, and install everything on that instead of Raspberry Pi OS? Would that impact on any other software that you have already showcased / recommended / demonstrated in these videos?

    • @SuperRuhal

    This switching between dark mode and light modes is a pain in the eyes... Just stick with either dark or light. If the page does not support it, install an extension. I am sick and tired of seeing people like this....

    • @Techdox
      @Techdox  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t always want every page to be dark mode, when it comes to terminals and applications dark mode every time, but dark mode on every webpage when reading documentation can sometimes be a pain using that extension.
      It’s not that bad unless you are sitting in a dark room 24/7 haha
