I want so much from Shiro. 1) make Custom Divisions available via Recon1 lotto like the collab pieces 2) offer a carbon fiber and/or inlayed (three bears) Quantum 3) introduce more blade shape variations for the F95/F3NS/Hati
I wanted to try shiro and despite having customs that cost far more than what a shiro is found for, I wasn’t willing to make the jump for a production knife, until I found an f3 under $600 or so. I’m very happy with it, despite the pivot backing out habitually. After some loctite, I’m sure it will remain to be the best production knife I have, to date. I was expecting it to be very close to a reate and it exceeded my expectations. I’m glad to see the more approachable prices for shiro recently. This one is on the radar. The quantum, in general, is a very attractive knife design (my favorite shiro design to date). Thanks for sharing Auston.
I like Shiros and own a few but am patient buying them on the secondary market only when I find deals. 3 of the 4 were between 4-450 (CF/S30V Hati on washers, F3 base model G10/elmax, Tabargan 100NS, and the newest one is a Hati R in M390 which was 650. If you keep your eyes peeled and have funds ready there are deals out there.
Just picked up aSHIROGOROV QUANTIUM URSUS - CROMAX PM BLADE - BLACK G10 HANDLE - MRBS Can't wait to get it in hand!! Living through the TH-cam vids till it arrives!! 😂👊🏼
I have this model and a Gen2 Quantum. The Ursus seems a little more broke in on the drop but the detent must suck in a little more sometimes and when I go to flip it open, it about breaks my finger. I guess I need to tune up the lock bar and maybe take some pressure off. I did get it on the secondary but for $625, you shouldn't have to mess with it. Also when I got the Gen2 I had to immediately take it apart and clean it and stuff because it was gritty and a little rough and it was brand new at $1200. Maybe it just needed to break in some. I'd still buy more Shiros but man it's frustrating when you pay a premium price and have to work on them immediately.
I've been wanting to try out the Cromax steel for a while. Its been pretty hyped in Russia for a while alongside CPR(a non PM stainless Cruwear class) which I'm pretty impressed with and Lomax(a cheaper version on m390).
Elmax shouldn't be compared to D2, its in no way similar. Elmax is like a younger tougher brother of m390. Slightly more toughness but at the cost of less wear resistance depending on heat treatment. At the same hardness/quality of heat treat its about a 15%(+/- 5%) difference.
@@mealex303 this allows the pocket material to sit within the cutout. It also allows the pocket clip to be out of the way when grabbing the knife, eliminating it as a hotspot.
@@Stahlwerk88 sorry if i hurt your feelings friend, it was just an opinion, and your average joe won't look at the price and think this is a budget knife of any kind
January 2021???
Right you are, we are in January of 2022.
February 2023 checkin in

I dig the model & the wood inlays.
$500 - $600 still isn't "budget" enough for me, but I'm glad to see them trying.
Nice looking knife.

I'll get Shiro someday, and if they do an inlay of CF or Micarta it'll be this one. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Great vid as always. Love the Quantum, hoping to get one at some point. Thanks for the effort 😁👍⚔️
Appreciate the kind words 🙏

I saw those hit Recon 1 today, they look good!
@@EpicSnuggleBunny Ya ..I think with the MRBS it's a good stepping stone. 👊🏼
How did you like it?
First time here. Great review.
Appreciate it!

i want one they look dope. If they made diff inlays, homerun!
I like wood and all but I would much prefer a different inlay on the Ursus. if they did CF or micarta or something I would probably buy one.

What have they been saying about it in russia? I can't find anything about it other than it's similar to elmax when i google it
Love your vids
Really appreciate it!
I got a NeOn NL as my first Shirogorov recently. It has the poorest detent I’ve ever handled. I should have got this one.
Mine will come in July, payment plan
still cannot pull the triger, I maight stick with my ZT for now
Forgot to mention: more videos please 😁
Appreciate it!
Not a fan of wood on knives in general...carbon fiber or micarta and I'm in!
I totally agree titanium is a nice way to go for me !
How much imperial credits of the realm does it cost?
Depends on what inflation assumption we use, considering it was a long time ago in a galaxy far away 🤔
Bought this as my first Shiro the week before Christmas. Had it for 24hrs before exchanging it for the NeOn Zero. Nice knife but not my cup of tea
Anything in particular that you disliked?
Nice grab!

It’s a 111 not a 110 👍🏻
There’s a 110 collab 😉
Pocket clip in the cut out is a no no. Not worth the money
The cool thing about the pocket clip, is that it doesn't touch the lockbar at all, it's cleverly machined.
Pocket clip doesn’t touch the lockbar.
Maybe look again?
@@EpicSnuggleBunny i just think the cutout should be on otherside of lockbar so ypu cant see it and wont interfere with pocket fabric

600 isn't a budget 😅
Not for me, but for someone it is, lol
@@EpicSnuggleBunny true, but when i think of a good budget knife, usually under a hundred is good imo
It’s a budget *Shiro,* not a budget knife. Important (and should have been obvious) distinction. Also your budget does not equal everyone’s budget.

600 is budget to somebody and affordable for a new Shiro. Everyones budget is different though.
