Nice idea. I’m looking to do something similar but I’m connecting 5 1-gallons to a 10 for my betta breeding set up. Each 1 gallon will house the males and fry will go into the 10 with plants and now I’m thinking some filter media
Very interesting. That setup sounds like a lot of work haha… will you be using glass 1 gallon tanks and drilling them to go into the 10 gallon sump? I would suggest a 20 gallon long tank and dividing up the spaces within that tank and just running one filter/heater. Less chance of leak too
It’s alright. I ended up putting my wolf in the left side so I switched out the divider for a 5 gallon bucket. Same concept and it works well. If you don’t have strong fish on the other side it will be okay
@@BryanLa glad to hear it I ran saltwater a few years back but have moved and going freshwater so just looking at different ideas. The biggest issue I see facing me is I have a water softener so I’ll probably put some plants in for a month or so before even thinking about fish.
I disagree with your idea that a tilted tank will put all the pressure on the lowest glass panel. The water will put pressure straight down because the force is gravity pulling the water down. I'm not denying pressure will be on the sides as well but the difference between low and high side will be commensurate to only the difference in height not the whole volume.
Yup that's my main problem now, the floating plants have grown like crazy and I've been needing to take them out weekly. I plan on redesigning the sump again! Hopefully to a more permanent stage this time 😁
Great vid and product review on the divider. I'm ordering one today
As soon as I saw your into DIY I subbed.
Have you made a sump update? I'm planning on swapping mine to a deep sand bed refugium that doubles as a daphnia farm
i have converted my sump to a barrel filter with just K1. sump worked well, i just needed the tank to house another fish
one downside to my old setup was the space didnt allow me to use more K1
Nice tip and easy simple explanation bout leveling tank.. keep it up bro!!
Thanks!!
