Dear Future Strokes fans: if this interview strikes you as downbeat and low-energy it's because it is. You have to understand that at this point in time the band was really starting to implode from the pressure of keeping of the success and the non-stop touring. If you get a chance, I recommend you read "Meet Me In The Bathroom". Context! I promise the mood of this interview will start to make sense in an incredibly somber way.
@@Clau574 Hey friend. The doc hasn't officially been released yet. A rough cut was debuted at Sundance earlier this year and last Showtime officially acquired the rights last week and said it would debut around Thanksgiving. Keep an eye out!
I agree with a comment made earlier here..Julian had quit drinking at this time and was really suffering...Thank God for smiley, chatty Fab..he saves the day in a lot of interviews!
fab - ''I heard last nite play, it was weird...we all kinda gave each other high fives...'' Jules - ''that was the only weird part, the high fives'' ...I love these guys. Thanks for uploading, man ;)
thank you for uploading this interview. I keep thinking about all the interviews and videos and shows I missed out on cos I was too young in the early 2000s
It's not even an "I don't give a fuck attitude" I think it's just how they are. In more recent interviews they give the sense of more maturity yet keep that easy going attitude.
@Maugolek Umm, sure? What I meant was that everyone in America migrated from somewhere else. America is full of immigrants from all over the world, the only people that are actual Americans are the Natives. So basically everyone in America has ancestors of different ethnicitys.
I think their music is great and all very talented, I am a fan. I just hate the "I don't give a fuck" attitudes. I wish they were gentlemen and seemed interested in talking about the music they create. The "fuck this" attitude isn't attractive. It's juvenile.
@1HippieRebel i've been fans of them for years and I just heard them on the radio for the first time last week, it was weird because it was so unexpected haha
Nick: "I started when I was 6."
Fabrizio: "Weren't you like 6?"
It's funny how Nick, Nikolai, Al and Julian are so uninterested and distracted so Fab kind of like speaks for all of them hahhaa
Albert is for sure high
just all seriously hungover haha
@@silverhill1014 Jules was actually newly sober during this period, so he was just not wanting to answer the bullshit questions.
I actually really really love Nikolai, he's so awesomely silent and cool, like he should be in the 70s or something.
nick is the coolest dude i've ever seen
He’s like a movie character
Lmaoo Albert just laughs while he stares at Fab's face at 1:28
That was hilarious
LOL tru.
😂😂 BRILLIANT.
omg im dying lol
"Weren't you like 6"
LOL FAB ily
Albert lol

Do you know if the documentary for the book is available online? Ty

I agree with a comment made earlier here..Julian had quit drinking at this time and was really suffering...Thank God for smiley, chatty Fab..he saves the day in a lot of interviews!

I feel like I shouldn't, but I love how they're just like "yeah, we don't give a fuck."
fab - ''I heard last nite play, it was weird...we all kinda gave each other high fives...''
Jules - ''that was the only weird part, the high fives'' ...I love these guys. Thanks for uploading, man ;)
Nikolai: I wouldn't call it playing guitar...
Julian: .... what would you call it then?
Legend says Albert still waits for a high five
wow, this interview seems so painful
I wish nothing more than to go to a show. And meet you. My favorite people
thank you for uploading this interview. I keep thinking about all the interviews and videos and shows I missed out on cos I was too young in the early 2000s
I started when I was 6...wait didn't you start when you were 6, haha there so stoned
“man that’s crazy”
The interesting fact about The Strokes is that none of them is 100% American
It's not even an "I don't give a fuck attitude" I think it's just how they are. In more recent interviews they give the sense of more maturity yet keep that easy going attitude.
This gives me life.
I don't think its them not giving a fuck, they actually look pretty nervous to be on camera
I think they are on drugs, that's pretty obvious.
@@Shaha33able mixture of both
my baby julian looks so sad here :((((((((
They’re so enthusiastic 😍
When I was fifteen, nobody believed me
Albert and Fab is so cute
hmm i think julian has been sober since fioe. the only one i think is super high is albert. look at him biting his lip like the whole time. yayo.
in a way ?
they ARE beautiful.
in so many ways.
"Yeah we're gonna drop that shit like it's hot."
lol Fab "weren't you like, 6?"
@adylearnstorock I think it's because Julian's in pain and they all know it. poor guy is going through withdrawal and anxiety
"That was the only weird part.... The high fives"
these guys are so baked
lol Fab left Albert hanging
Imagine working at a bread factory and someone telling you about bread
albert is so stoned
Albert is on so much heroin. He's out of it lol.
Actually they're Marlboro Mediums. I smoke them too. Same shade of red except with a white border, not 27s.
my ideal men
THE END,
fab left albert hanging lmao
na you do it i dont care..
MR JULIAN CASA BADASS
Looks the tail end of the session when the coke just spaces you out and dread looms in the pauses
Not for Albert though, he's having a great time though he has pretty much no idea what's going on haha
estoy enamorada de nikolai
I want to marry Nick Valensi! I mean I want to marry all! :DD, I love these guys.
:D Nikolai is soo lovely!
The camera guy has a crush with nick tho jajajaja
@Maugolek Umm, sure? What I meant was that everyone in America migrated from somewhere else. America is full of immigrants from all over the world, the only people that are actual Americans are the Natives. So basically everyone in America has ancestors of different ethnicitys.
Nobody's from anywhere if you go back far enough
drop it like it's hot dude...hahaha
haha nick "ya were gonna drop that shit like its hot on jan 3..and thats my word kid"
lmfao nick says he started playing when he was six. shows how out of it they were.
1:22 "werent you like 6" guy next to him goes PFFT. lol i dont know why i laughed when he said that
actually...:D 3:10 Fab says "fuckin great":D
hahahaha albert at 1.28 hahaha
i risk my life for da paper lmfao
Halaand antes de ser uno de los mejores delanteros del mundo.
this clearly shows that they were falling apart.........
@oldinoneday is just a interview from sony france

comment is 8 years old but yeah i absolutely agree. very irresponsible of them to be super stoned before interviews lol it's very annoying
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
@1HippieRebel i've been fans of them for years and I just heard them on the radio for the first time last week, it was weird because it was so unexpected haha
alice and the mad hatter vs. don quijote (lord of the flies civilization)
nice doing business with you buster brown. in the future you quit smoking
@thestrokes241 Are you saying that USA is a multi-cultural country and there aren't many people whose both parents are American?
@Cgsperu this must be 2005, cuz they're talking about FIOE coming out Jan. 3 2006
@tenisgirly sony france website, i lost the link, but the whole interview is on my channel :)
@Maugolek Technically no one is 100% American. Except the natives.

Is the interviewer super hot or something??? Why them so awkward??
this was during a time where they Hated each other
As far as I know, The Strokes've been always awkward during interviews.
neemo98 it was also in this era bc albert went solo w/o telling anyone and jules felt hurt by it
interviewee is so rude
.
....awkward.....
