I think he's depressed because he found out his dog died, a month or 2 later he was talking about it, his dog was 17 and he had spent all of his childhood with it, So you can't blame the guy.
If you listen to what they are saying and what Julien says in other more candid interviews, I think it is obvious he is not smacked or depressed about a dog. They are being interviewed before their album even is out yet, the interviewer even mentions he has not heard it and they all laugh like, "yeah, no shit? But you excited about it, like everug one else..?" Media. Media. Media. That is why they are so sarcastic throughout and Julien. The main songwriter is just sick to his stomach about it all because he feels his music is not going to be truly appreciated, it is judt an image to people.

I only intended on going to see my second show of The Strokes and Orlando at the House of Blues Disney. Then I met the guys in Longwave and I couldn't resist the opportunity to see the shows. I called my retail job and said sorry I'm taking an additional week off.
I think I watched an interview before where Julian was annoyed about doing interviews before their album was even released. That might be why he's being moody here, it's a pointless interview. Even the interviewer hadn't heard their music beforehand.
