Hello, great video! What's the ice for? Does it enhance the heat-shock or is it essential for the DNA treatment with CaCl2?

As of I can suppose, the ice treatment is for reducing the kinetic energy & locking the cell & other contents for a while so that when Ca2+ is brought in proximity to DNA and heat shocks are given, the cell & its content doesn't shift bringing about a precise and quick desired result. Thank you!
