That durability is ridiculous. Thank you for testing it and being totally honest as usual. Hopefully cut takes it seriously. I know our community would pay more for that performance with a durable cover.
I'm 100% agree. I wouldn't mind at all paying $29.99 for the cut blue and having a better cover. The numbers on the ball were ridiculous and many of you would be willing to try it
I have gotten one ball to last 2 rounds several times. Chewed uo a bit, but to date, never saw an issue with performance. Great summer piece, and the forgiveness is much better than say a triad
Great, honest review. Like I mentioned before, Cut had a chance to make a significant improvement on the Blue covers 3 years ago but they didn't move forward because of a slight cost increase. They truly missed an awesome opportunity.
Considering that this is their premium ball, I would expect that it would still be a considerably better price than other premium offerings. Crazy decision to sacrifice on that front.
My sentiments exactly. Love the performance I get from this ball - longest drives I've ever done, stops immediately on the green on approach. But when I get to the green on the first hole, find several cuts and the most I can get is a couple holes with the ball - being generous - before relegating it to the shag bag or practice, I had a falling out quickly. Went through two dozen golf balls without losing one, but went through them in a month due to wear. CUT, PLEASE FIX THIS COVER!
Sadly, this has also been my experience with the Cut Blue. Its cover gets shedded, shaved, whatever you want to call it on any significant hit with about a four iron on down through the wedges. I had heard this when I bought them, but they were on clearance at a big box store for like $9 a dozen so I bought a dozen hoping they had fixed the problem. I have like eight of these balls brand new still in the box and don’t know what to do with them. I could leave them in the locker room with a free sign on them, but then I am just passing the problem on to some unsuspecting fellow golfer. The only golfer these could possible work for and not be shred and shaved by would be some very, very slow swing speed player who really can’t carry the ball more than maybe a hundred yards. Maybe their strike would be slow enough to not shred the cover? I like the Red (even though I have cracked a few) and I like the Grey and the DC very much and both of them have really good, bordering on great durability. But the Blue is unusable, unfortunately.
I’ve had no issue with durability with the blues. Full round and hardly any markings on the ball. A little from wedge shots. Also hit them into a net at home a ton with no issues. Hope it stays that way. Great review as always
Good, honest review. I’ve been playing a bit with the Gray and frankly happy with the price vs. performance for my swing speed when I’m playing golf this time of year in New England. They don’t feel too hard when it’s cold out and I don’t care when I lose one or two in leaf litter.
Yeah I agree 100%. It's soft enough compression that even if it's a little cold out you won't lose much. Can stay with the same gamer Ball even in the summer months and not really lose any performance.
Played a few rounds with the Cut Reds the since your video this week. Love them, and definitely a change in durability since i last played them a few years ago. Did plan on trying the Blue until this video lol. Thank you! Reds to me seem to be a very similar feel to the Srixon star tours. Like almost interchangeable.
I'm still hearing mixed things about the cut red durability. Some people are having issues and some aren't. It's kind of frustrating but I guess it is what it is. I'm glad you're not having that same issue 😁
Thanks for the heads-up on this one. I tried the get sum balls after your review. Great ball for me, but I lost 2 sleeves at 2 different courses last week!! I was wondering if you would think about offering A sample pack, 1 dozen, of the value balls that you tested and recommended.
I would love to eventually do something like that if I'm equipped to. Would be a great alternative for a lot of people. Maybe I'll try for something like that next year
It's weird, I have a lot of these balls, and some of them do get torn up like this, and some don't. I assumed that they had put in some work on them as I got an amazing deal about four years ago when I knew they had durability issues, then picked up a dozen every once in a while the next couple years. I guessed that they did some work on the cover, but apparently not.
I can 2nd everything in this video about the Cut Blue. For me, the Blue is amazing in every category except durability. I love the feel, distance, and spin I get off this ball, but I swear, I can’t play but 1 hole with the Blue because of the lack of durability.
I used to play the Cut Grey balls and, when they were out of stock, tried Vice Pro Soft. The Vice balls were too soft so, as I was running low, I ordered some Cut Blues. They are definitely clicky off the putter, but they do seem to stop faster on the greens. They play pretty well and fit my speed pretty well, but, like you, I have found the cover gets shredded after playing. I've been playing at least two or three balls a round because the condition of the cover forces me throw them out, particularly after hitting some full-swings with wedges. I will play scuffed balls, though, as I'm still a mid-teen handicap golfer and always risk losing them OB, though as I'm getting better and losing less, I've noted that this is an issue.
For fun, see how many rounds you can play one of those balls. Make it a whole round, then look at your scorecard. Tell me the balls' performance suffered as much as the ball. Either way, it's colder and I'm using Q star Tour Divides, but next summer... the cut blues return
@@gcoffey223 I'm fairly sure the performance drop off isn't as bad as the looks of the ball indicates, which is why I said I continue to play them scuffed. When they no longer roll straight on the greens because of the cuts in the cover, they have to go.
I used to not believe that cuts or minor abrasions affected the golf ball that much. However now I've seen so many studies and scientific experiments on TH-cam showing different roles on the green, patterns when the ball spins after landing on the green, as well as ball flight and I just can't do it. The golf ball has to at least feel smooth around. If it has anything minor at all I have to toss it
Any alternatives with similar performance for price? I bought some of these hoping to see improvement in durability and ran into the same issue. I love them especially for spin on greens but it does suck playing at most a round, 2 rounds if i push it.
No it doesn't. See if you can get one ball to survive 3 rds... that little ball will still get it done. I can get to one, then 2 rounds, never survived 3 rounds
I'm still a one ball per round kind of guy. If I do make it the entire round with one ball I toss it afterward. Still though we're talking about an extreme here. One shot and the golf balls toast
@GolfBallAddict I've had ERC Soft triple tracks that have lasted 3 rounds no problem with not much noticeable wear. Avoiding trees and cart paths is obviously essential
@@kennethmckinney2532 That ball is long, no doubt. I just need a ball to check up around the green. If it did stop, it would be my dream ball as I have a TT odysey putter
Man oh man, there is plenty of times I agree with you and disagree with you, but I picked up a box of cut blue yesterday. I figured with numbers that good I’m ok with it getting chipped up. First hole ball destroyed, second hole ball destroyed. No trees, no sand, just absolute trash cover on the cut blue. Literally a cover adjustment away from maybe the best ball in the game!!!
Just got back from vacation, so I’m catching up. I’m going to let you cook on the durability issue. This all boils down to one word: trust. Do you TRUST your ball to perform? Do you TRUST your ball to roll true on the first and eighteenth greens? To me, there is no value if there is no trust.
In my personal experience, cut lives up to their name. And not in a good way. I cut a brand new golf ball on the first or second hole nearly every time
At this point they should stop selling the Blue altogether. It is shredding (I couldn’t resist) the reputation on their whole company and making any user of the Blue very unlikely to take a chance on and purchase any other Cut golf ball model. The company needs to cut their loses (sorry, I couldn’t resist one more time) on the Blue and stop selling it. When they have a redesign with dramatically better durability, call it some other color, like “green” or “purple” or “orange” or some color, but not “blue”. This ball is severely hurting this company’s reputation.
Yeah and when I'm honestly disappointed the most in is that it's been so long. Having durability issues for a year or two can be fixed, but when you've had the same problems for 7 years it's obvious that's just how the golf balls going to be 😞
DO NOT BUY. I did & I bought 5 dozen. Don’t make the same mistake. His review is spot on and not exaggerated at all. Yo literally have to discard a ball per hole because it will be cut and scarred so terribly that it is unplayable. That, and the Cut Company could care less. I reached out for them thinking they might want to know they have quality issues with this ball. I won’t bore you with that long and involved (and ongoing) story……but suffice to say….they don’t seem to care.
I tried their Blue product. Performance wise it was great, but the durability is absolutely the WORST (with a capital W) that I’ve ever experienced. The ball scars and shows cuts after each solidly hit shot. Forget about one ball per round…..you are lucky to get one ball per every two holes! It’s so bad that I’ve reach out to the company to report the problem & they really don’t seem to care. I’ve been told that I need to send clear photos of the damaged balls & if they determine to resolve, their response will be to replace the balls with THE SAME BALL! 1) who keeps cut and scared balls I. I mean the Wilson boost last an entire round and that's with 75 cents per golf ball lol
Got a few things to do, but I will be back! Meantime, letting it play in the background.
Oooohhh. Goodie

And... roll em. I did let it play through earlier. Here we go
Crispy!!!
I've had atbleastv10 rounds with the Blue... putts pretty true
7800 rpm on a 50 yd... I agree. Stops better than a pro v1
Skipped em for the Boost last time I saw em at Walmart. Glad I did. Will stick with the Greys if I keep buying Cut, interested in the DC tho
I'm very interested in the DC as well. Comes out tomorrow!
Nice review. I think it would be nice to see the decent angle too. A lack of spin can easily be offset with a steep landing angle.
