I think a lot of the watches he's been releasing are rather limited runs that quite often sell out. One of the criticism I can think of is that the Long Island Watch web page seems to keep the discontinued and other sold out models on the lists. It makes it unwieldy to look through the catalog. I have one of his "Hexad" bracelets on my Samurai and it's a 200% improvement over the stock steel bracelet.

I currently have three Islanders from Marc starting with the ISL-02, and I am pleased with the interaction with Marc and the experience of buying many other watches (lots of Seiko!) and bracelets from Long Island Watch. It is pretty cool to observe the evolution of Islanders dials, case backs, and bracelets over the course of three or so years. like many of us watching this channel, await the next model of the Islander. Great review, Jody, as always.
I actually really like the case finishing. I must admit from looking at them online I thought they were very generic. I’ll have to have a bit more of a look into them
I just came back from the Windup watch fair. One of the many impressions left on me was how the Islanders looked much better in person than they do in online images.
I have the black Northport and I love it! The dial texture is subtle in black but noticeable at certain angles/lighting and the grey bezel is unique and adds some character. I sometimes wish I had gone with one of the more colorful variants but the black makes for an excellent go-to watch, regardless or outfit or season. Excellent value for money IMO and I always love to support Marc on his journey to becoming a top microbrand 👏 Thanks for the review Jodi!!
I've used Long Island Watches several times, but not purchased an Islander as yet. However, I'd have no doubts about getting one. I've watched a fair amount of Marc's content and he really knows his stuff. Additionally, I believe he assembles his products in the US, so has a closer connection to quality control etc. I've found Micro Brands a bit hit and miss - but not Islander.
I'm sure Marc would have eventually started his own brand but, when Seiko axed the SKX line, there was such a demand from from the majority of his clientele (mainly SKX modders)for an alternative, I believe that spurred him to starting his brand when he did. When he came out with the ISL-08 (SKX yellow dial equivalent), I bought one. I've had a few different models/designs since he started his brand. Never been disappointed with any of them. Ones I sold were due to change in taste or necessity. I currently have 3 different designs & just bought a 4th today (a model that's not being released for another 2 weeks) being "premiered" at the Chicago Windup. It's a gorgeous 🥰 piece. ⌚😎🤙
I have a number of Marc's Islander watches - dive, dress and field. For reference, I also have a couple of Grand Seikos, a Roxex, an Omega, a couple of Doxas, three Ball watches, and others. Dollar for dollar, Islander watches quality and Marc's responsiveness make for extremely good bang for the buck. I highly recommend Islander watches, Long Island Watch and Marc. Islanders are a tremendous value!
I'm an owner of this watch. Though I agree it's nothing spectacular, it checks lots of boxes for a beginner who wants to experience things like me. Textured dial, high beat, great proportion, BGW9, jubilee bracelet with micro adjust. And the more I look at the watch, the more I realize it is well thought out. Like the minute and second hands touch outer edge of indices, while hour hand touch inner edge to create a line. So all in all, I believe it's a great deal.
I'm wearing my Northport right now. I have the Seafoam Green fade dial(ISL-155), and absolutely love it. The bezel action is superb, the sapphire bezel makes it feel so much more premium, the very adjustable bracelet gives a perfect fit, and I just love the aesthetics of the dial. I had this watch on my wishlist since I first saw it, but it was always out of stock, so I did something I had never done before which is sign up for the "Notify me when in stock" email. Bought it within 5 minutes of receiving the in stock email.
Ive owned and reviewed a few. I love them. A below entry level collector such as myself gets a great watch, for a great price, from a great group of guys in the company. Win all the way around
It's like worlds have collided! Two of the nicest people in the watch enthusiast world represented here. Marc is a great guy and I'm pleased to have an Islander in my collection among the other pieces I've acquired from Long Island. And I'm seriously considering adding this one; that color scheme is absolutely amazing! Enjoy it Jody!
Great to see an Islander on the channel. I have several Islanders in the collection and I can say, Marc really is one of the nicest guys in the business.
I absolutely love my Islander. I have the samurai ish one with the full lume dial. Next I am getting the same watch, just with the "Great wave of Kanagawa" dial. I also have 2 different bands from him that I put on mine and my sons casio duros. Love his stuff.
I thought you’d be more excited about this one. That dial and texture is GORGEOUS! Also, the quality of parts Marc uses is top notch, especially the crystal. Can’t find many better watches at his price points.
That's a beauty. Being a native Islander, I really should own at least one of Marcs watches. Maybe Ill treat myself end of the year. Nice work Marc and great video as always Jody!
I recently picked up one of the Jubilees that he's done for the Citizen BN0150. Under £60 including shipping to the UK and brilliant customer service. The bracelet is great value for money and really boosted the look of my humble Citizen. Highly recommend his company and the Scottish Ausdie reviewer...😝
As a long time customer of LIW, thank you for your kind review. Marc always provides great customer service, fast shipping and he is always ready to help out with a problem (but you never seem to have any!).
Jody, a huge thank you for reviewing an Islander. The quality to price ratio is very hard to match. The excellent customer service after the sale is fantastic! Marc is a genuinely humble and kind man that goes way beyond what is common today in the retail industry. I have experienced his exceptional customer service personally and he is my first choice when looking for another watch. I have been subscribed and watching your channel for some time now and I really enjoy your style of critiques as well as your honesty. You and Marc have much in common. Well done as always!🥃
I've got three different Islanders and what's so great about them collectively is that they each know exactly what kind of watch they are and bring great value doing it.
I really enjoyed Marc's videos when first getting into the hobby. Super informative and not at all gatekeepy. I bought my SKX from long island watch back in 2018. I don't really like their logo but their prices are hard to beat. I picked up an ISL-81 second hand and it's gotten a lot of wrist time. It is insanely comfortable on a Watch Steward strap.
I have the orange version on a oyster style bracelet. It definitely adds well needed color to my collection. Its a great summertime piece. My only minor grips are the logo and branding take away from the look of the excellent dial. Also the bracelet, while not bad at all, it just feels a bit on the cheaper side. Honestly I'm totally happy this watch anyway.
I have always admired Marc and Islanders. We get slaughtered on the exchange rate here in Canada plus the uncertainty around duty. I just ordered bracelets for two of my Duros. Marc seemed to be the only one who knew what I wanted and there they were sitting on his site! Now that I have some “Crown Points” I hope to one day grab an Islander for my collection! Great review Jody. Merci!!
I have the purple to black gradient one. It somehow finds its way onto my wrist over watches that cost twice as much. I also find the BGW9 blue lume fades quickly but is still visible in the morning in a fully dark room.
Marc is the best and so are his watches. I have 8 of them (yes, I have a problem) and every one of them is a gem!! thanks for the review Jody, just another Islander I want now lol
That is a beautiful watch! Normally I wouldn’t buy a light blue watch, but this watch really “jumps out “at you. And yes, Mark is definitely a very nice individual. The stars will always shine brighter over his home.
I own the purple and black Northport, and I love it. It fits so well and looks amazing. I can not recommend it enough. Plus, yes, Marc is very much a great retailer and has some of the best customer service in the business.
Finally an Islander! Got job Jody. I like these watches and am a frequent visitor to his website to see what he's pumped out next. My only gripe with his stuff are the colourways. But, if they were conventional colours they might look too much like the bigger brands. Saying that, his gold dial GMT has caught my eye.. maybe I will finally take the plunge and buy it. If you're open to suggestions, try and find time to review a Charlie Paris next, or a Wolbrook. Thanks Jody for another great video!
I've bought two Islanders, one was a Flieger as a gift for someone else, and also the Rangemaster that he and TGV made, and they're awesome watches! First class guy all the way.
Subjectively, I'm not overly fond of this design. But I like everything else about the watch and the brand, so I'll definitely be keeping them in view for what's to come.
Having this blue one, the sea foam green, and the purple/black one in my collection I can confirm the north port is a great watch and is well worth your money. Glad you finally have one for your collection!
I own this exact watch and it is an excellent watch. I really don't think Jody was being too critical and really thought that it was a good and fair review. Marc is one of the most knowledgeable, reachable and ethical people in the watch industry.
Great review. BTW, I love Islander Watches! Seriously, I like their approach. Daring, affordable &….prestigious. I wear Tag & Tudor BB58 and I get more compliments on that very Islander watch. My wife’s ring needed service & at an International Diamond Center….that watch drew a lot of attention.
I happen to own this exact same Islander, along with three other Islander watches. They are all great and very much worth the money. Hope to see you review more of them in the future!
I have like 5 or 6 Islanders. I love them, even bought the Islander jubilee bracelet for the Casio Duro. (You should check out the assembled in USA quartz one.)
Marc is killing it. I have a couple Islanders and they’re surprisingly good quality and specs for the price. The blue color gradient on that one is beautiful! I almost bought that one a while back, and after seeing this review, I might just pull the trigger. 😅
I have several Islanders, and love them! Lot's of value for Money and Marc has always been great! This one isn't my particular cup of tea, but to each their own. Islander discontinued what I thought was the perfect dive watch (the Islander Southold) which is a shame, but they have lots to offer and I love the ones I have!
I love the sea-foam green one. I’d put it on a white FKM and have the perfect summer, or tropical vacation, watch. Love that Mark is using a 9015 in this, for the price.
I bought one a few years ago Jody. I agree with your sentiments on the branding. My watch is I guess ok, but I much prefer a name brand or micro for the money.
Huge fan of Islander watches. I've been able to purchase 4 of them and they are among my favorite watches that I own. You really do get a lot for your money and the bracelets are so nice to size with the micro adjustments.
Love Marc, love Long Island, love many of the Islander designs and have purchased three. Unfortunately I have had absolutely brutal luck with the NH-35s in every one and all I was offered in terms of service was that he “could put me contact with a watch mechanic”: Warranty is definitely not a strength. That was somewhat disappointing considering how much money I’ve spent on that website. (Though since a lot of it was before the website change I get no “credit” for it.) Regardless, they’re amazing lookers and spec monsters. This sku specifically is a real nice one, but once I noticed the numerals on the dive bezel canting downward at the center I could not unsee it. I really like how the designs are finding their own look.
My problem with these is that they all remind of a Seiko in some way. This case looks too similar to a 62MAS and seems to be emulating the Grand Seiko Omiwatari dial, among others.
I own a few of the Islander watches and this one and the blue/white color is my favorite. The first time I saw this watch, I knew I was going to buy it. I do agree that the one downside is the bracelet. It does feel a tad light to me, but at this price, it’s not a huge deal. Marc knows how to make a solid watch. He needs to try his hand more with field watches now!
I have two islander watches. I love them because Mark gave me everything we wish Saco would, but doesn’t… Haven’t purchased a Watch in quite a while and I’m going through withdrawal… I was going to hold off and wait for the Black Friday sales from Long Island watches, but I’m not gonna wait I’m gonna go ahead and grab one of these… Thanks, Jody.
Still have my green Oris Aquis from 2020. 39.5 mm bought it for $1400. First "luxury" watch. It's been a great long term purchase for me. I like the improvements. I think you forgot to mention the color matched date wheel. The old ones were black. Great review of a fantastic watch.
You forget to say what's the material of the bezel insert! I love the simple look of the face, especially the hands. You know what? If he swap the silver with black for the hands it will match the bezel and look more consistent. The colour is LOVELY!
I,ve bought several watches from Island Watch and they have been a pleasure to deal with. No problems and fast delivery. The in house Island watches ar e very good for the price point
I have purchased seven watches from Marc and would have made the trip to Chicago to meet him in person, but had other commitments this weekend. Your point about on-the-fly adjustable clasps is spot on. I just ordered my 4th Zelos watch. On-the-fly adjustment is becoming must-have for me.
Great review. I have an ISL-36 and I just love it. I agree with all of the criticisms, but despite that I’ve never been happier to give a brand my money. 6+ months on, I still wear it as much as my more expensive watches. I’m pretty tempted to get a Northport too.
I tried this exact watch model on at the Windup Watch Fair in Chicago last weekend. It was really great on wrist and looked nice. It's definitely got that summer watch feel.
Yes, I've got 3 Islander watches. The Southold is my favorite. I love mine! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 (ISL-114). And no more will be made so it is a true collector's item.
I am wearing a modded Islander right now*... Not a Northport, but those Seikalike early releases are fantastic bases to build from. Marc is very well positioned to study his market and put out products that are broadly popular: even if the designs are a bit all over the place, they get bought in droves. Great value and Marc's reputation are what sell the product, not originality. His brand identity is him, basically. (ISL#26 if anyone cares :-)
Marc is developing a brand, at least as far as I’m concerned. I bought my first mechanical watch from Marc perhaps in 2017 (well, aside from a Timex in the 1970s from the Sears catalog when I was a teen). That reignited a 40 year dormant interest in watches. The fact that the watch from Marc was a Seiko means less than that it was from Long Island Watch.
I would agree with the micro adjust -- really don't like a bracelet without it. My climate gets really hot and cold - the micro adjust just adds that much more comfort.
You gotta give Marc credit for where he's taken his Islander brand. When Seiko discontinued the SKX, he (as both a fan and a Seiko AD) and many others in the watch industry waited to see what they would replace it with, hoping for an improved SKX with a better movement with hacking and handwinding, and overall better specs. What we got was the 5KX fashion line, which looked great, had the better movement, but without the screw-down crown, was no longer a true dive watch! Marc started the Islander brand to give Seiko SKX fans the watch they were hoping for, with the same classic case, the better movement, a better bracelet with solid endlinks and a milled clasp, a sapphire crystal, and a ceramic bezel insert, all with a 200-meter water resistance rating, for about the same price as the frankly inferior 5KX. Marc could have stopped there, but he's grown the line, and branched out into more unique designs, and a variety of movements from Seiko, Miyota, Swiss Sellita automatics, and even a few American made quartz movements (with plans with the same factory for mechanical movements in the future.) Long Island Watch Co is a great online shop for many great brands, incuding his own Islanders! I have purchased several Islander watches, including his SKX cased diver (which I gave to my adult son), and a similar waffle dail diver with essentially the same case (with the crown moved to the 3 o'clock position), his Bethpage Amerigraph quartz chronograph, which is a slight homage to the Omega Speedmaster with an Omega style the case, and his new Islander GMT Calabro, using the new Seiko NH34 movement. I also got his collaboration with The Urban Gentry, the Miyota 9039 powered Rangemaster, which was a bit small on my 7.5 inch wrist, but looks great on my wife's more petite wrist! I really don't care about branding all that much. I care more about the quality of the watch, the affordability, and the man who stands behind his products, and Marc, Long Island Watch Co, and Islander Watches, click all the necessary boxes for me!
" I care more about the quality of the watch, the affordability, and the man who stands behind his products, and Marc, Long Island Watch Co, and Islander Watches, click all the necessary boxes for me!" absolutely true!
Very nice dive style watch. I'm sure that Mark, as a retailer of watches for years, read and understood the "above" average customer's desires and tried to get as much style, good looks and practical design into a watch that would meet a popular price point. With those parameters in mind, it seems as though he hit it out of the park with this line of watches. And though I agree with the moans and niggles about the band, I see this watch resting more comfortably on the wrist with a rubber/silicone strap to promote its sporting potential. Also what can you say about his inclusion of one of the nicest Miyota movements. It's the elegant workhorse that helps the rest of the watch rise above it's already enhanced features. I am always happy to see continued success for Mark and yourself also, Jody. Cheers.
Great review Jody. You are consistently on your game! I appreciate how you incorporate compliments and criticism as you wind your way throughout the review. You have a true gift of being amongst the best at your craft. Thank you. Oh, by the way, Mark is a nice person with great customer service with a solid watch.

This is a fair review. This is a nice watch. I think it’s excellent value. I’m delighted to see this very pleasant man doing well with his own brand. It’s also very nice to see honest reviews on TH-cam Keep it up both
I bought one of the original ISL-02s back when he launched the Islander watches. It was basically a spec'd up SKX. As nice as it was, it was let down by a generic look, a cheap clasp and a lack of branding. Its good to see Marc making incremental improvements over the last few years to give the watches a proper identity and move away from purely seiko homages. They're still a little generic, but they're definitely worth a closer look.
I wish he’d put the signed clasps on all the watches. My ISL141, at $329, lacks that little touch. Everything else is top notch about it, great lume (even the Islander logo on the dial is lumed), DLC bezel and nice, solid link bracelet.
I have purchased a few LIW and other brands from Marc. Always had a first rate customer service experience from LIW. The watches he’s creating with his brand are way way more affordable than if you purchased a similar watch with all the upgrades from a Big Brand company. LIW is making high quality and affordable watches
Thanks for the fair shake, Jody. I appreciate your hard work and review. Shirt looks great!

Additionally, I believe he assembles his products in the US, so has a closer connection to quality control etc. I've found Micro Brands a bit hit and miss - but not Islander.
Worlds collided with this review! Both your channels are my favorites!
Agreed!
⌚😎🤙
I love the cool, eye-catching ice blue color of this watch; it's perfect for lounging on the beach and enjoying a bit of skin diving. 🍎
I think I saw Marc describe the brand as an enthusiast brand, which I think is pretty accurate, it’s almost flawless.
Glad to see you here, Tommy! I'm a big fan of yours
@@taham33 appreciate it
It's like worlds have collided!
No other watch reminds me of summer at the beach more than the teal-blue version on this watch. Love it! Mark is a legend!
Eh, sorry mate, it just looks tacky to me.
@@wintermute8315 it may not be your taste but tacky is not a term associated with this watch.
I have this exact Islander Northport and I love it! The dial is stunning, its the perfect summer watch. And very comfortable for my 6.75 in wrist.
Which one is your favorite
I own this exact watch and it is an excellent watch. I really don't think Jody was being too critical and really thought that it was a good and fair review. Marc is one of the most knowledgeable, reachable and ethical people in the watch industry.
I think he's killing it in the Dial area. I just wish i would see some dressier hands on his dress watches
Jody, I'm so glad you're finally reviewing an Islander. I love the Northport model so much
I happen to own this exact same Islander, along with three other Islander watches. They are all great and very much worth the money. Hope to see you review more of them in the future!
I haven't bought one of his watches yet but I did buy one of his bracelets for the Seiko Samurai and it is very nice. Much better than the original!
Isn't this a micro-brand?
@@donnyboon2896 as far as I'm concerned it is.
Can you elaborate on what your issues with the NH-35 are?
My problem with these is that they all remind of a Seiko in some way. This case looks too similar to a 62MAS and seems to be emulating the Grand Seiko Omiwatari dial, among others.
I own a few of the Islander watches and this one and the blue/white color is my favorite. The first time I saw this watch, I knew I was going to buy it. I do agree that the one downside is the bracelet. It does feel a tad light to me, but at this price, it’s not a huge deal. Marc knows how to make a solid watch. He needs to try his hand more with field watches now!
@@gilbertoflores7397 I don’t compare them. Islander and most micro brands are far better.
Yes Jody couldn't agree more about Marc, and as usual a great looking watch at a great price!
I,ve bought several watches from Island Watch and they have been a pleasure to deal with. No problems and fast delivery. The in house Island watches ar e very good for the price point
Nice looking watch. I like that he sent you a blue watch despite you declaring in multiple videos how you dislike blue watches.
I have 2 Islander watches.. my 38mm Batman Dual Time is hard to leave behind.. quiet, well made and attractive. Thank you Marc, Frank in Colorado
Been long awaiting this review!
Ayeeee! That explains why you are first comment! Ten points.
I like it a lot better than I expected. I think the rippled dial and color gradient make it extremely attractive.
I picked up an ISL-01 a few years ago, and it's by far my favorite watch in my collection
A great honest review Jody. That’s why we keep watching.
I have 2 Northports. The foam green and the purple. I love them both. You can't really go wrong with Islander.
Cheers.
I am born and raised on Long Island and I appreciate the references.
Great review Jody. You are consistently on your game! I appreciate how you incorporate compliments and criticism as you wind your way throughout the review. You have a true gift of being amongst the best at your craft. Thank you. Oh, by the way, Mark is a nice person with great customer service with a solid watch.
Jody, we love his honesty!
@@Barbecuejag This review was bought, come on. He donated to his cause, gifted him the watch, he wears a shirt with the islander logo. This is a commercial.
I have 2 of these watches, the two tone seafoam/white and the black dial. This Northport model is my favorite from Islander 👍
This is a fair review.
This is a nice watch.
I think it’s excellent value.
I’m delighted to see this very pleasant man doing well with his own brand.
It’s also very nice to see honest reviews on TH-cam
Keep it up both
I bought one of the original ISL-02s back when he launched the Islander watches.
